Ignore is great on online forums, there are just some who love to endlessly strive over just about everything and twist things all up, interogate and come back for more of the same again and again.

Your whole online experience changes with the ignore button.

To PW

I do not place everyone I disagree with on my ignore list.
I do nto even argue with everyone I disagree with,

There are certain people..

My ignore list would be huge.

You just got to christian chat, You do not even know me,, Yet you seem it is ok to judge e, Thats fine,, I placed you on ignore, because I had to..at least temporarily.

I want to be both, but know it is not always possible, and am willing to admit when I am wrong. :)
Absolutely, living in Christ's purity thru good works and being pliable in truthfulness of ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ thru humility is the mark of a spirit-filled Child of God. Wonderfully put Magenta. We can attain to His measure by way of Him but it is an infant, to childhood, to adolescence, to adulthood journey. God doesn't wipe away imperfections in us, He patiently walks alongside us and puts in us the things we cannot of Himself in way of successful obedience.

then can I ask why you posted it? Since that is what we were discussing?

and if you did not, I appologize.
The Holy Spirit led me to that verse ... and I was kind of wondering myself what Peter meant, exactly ... and was hoping maybe someone would touch on that point. I was bringing it to the table for examination.

I wonder how often you accuse others of slandering you but refuse to own up to your own.
Please see my post #867 on page 44.

The slander started with the OP. I agree this thread needs to be closed. Or renamed:

He had to = he had no choice in the matter? Is it your fault? You forced him to!

Which is basically what the fight is about. Some say that Christ has already won, and the sneaky snakes come in and say," Has he really already won? He has..........BUT."

Some of us recognize it while others don't "see" it or would rather save feelings instead of calling them out on the carpet for it.

The sneaky snakes are VERY subtle and use very nice language...even use the name of jesus. And only doctrine in our souls will save us from the sneaky snakes.
There are two snakes: those who say, "we need to add behavior to a thing Jesus did on the Cross for our Salvation."
And those who say, "we need not succeed in our behavior because Jesus secured Salvation."

"He has ...BUT" is wrong. But "He has....thus" is not.

I don't think closing the thread will do much good. Another one with the same subject - new header - will just replace it.

Can't blame the thread.

The problem is more about interaction skills and mutual respect

Scripture is clear God wants us to know we have Salvation secured by the things already accomplished in Christ thru the Atonement. But

sin is re-enlisted and the old self contract to Satans domain is reapplied to have it's overwhelming power once again.
In laymen's terms. What do you mean by the second quote?

Let's try this again :)

Can anyone share with me what they think Peter is saying here ... Honestly it confuses me.

2Peter
5
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Yes, thank you Magenta ... that's what it says in verse 8 ... but what does peter mean in verse ten about making our calling and election sure? If our calling and election are sure in Christ's blood then why does Peter seem to add to it here?

But you said you make open posts to the board at large by quoting someone else... all the time! Since this is a truth you proclaimed about your methods, how then do you expect the rest of us to be able to determine when it is an open question and when it is directed only at the person you are quoting?

Depends upon what we put after "thus"

What comes after "thus?"

We do not need to succeed in our behavior or lifestyle or conduct after salvation FOR salvation. We enter the kingdom.

If we want rewards, ETERNAL rewards, INHERIT the kingdom and keep from discipline or even physical death........ And to Glorify the Lord in time, all rewards are to Glorify Him.......we had better obey.

Salvation and entering the Kingdom is a done deal the moment we believe. Acts 16:31.

Matthew Henry has this to say about it:

"...let Christians labour to attain assurance of their calling, and of their election, by believing and well-doing; and thus carefully to endeavour, is a firm argument of the grace and mercy of God, upholding them so that they shall not utterly fall."

So:
Make haste and give careful and persistent study to the qualities previously mentioned. (2 Pet 5-7)

hes saying continue in these things,( as knowledge grows, we follow the geowing knowledge. if I stop following the knowledge that comes through the teachings of Christ, then am I sure I am called? and elected or chosen? when we see the word follow it becomes our command. this principle serves for conviction, which leads to obdedience, or if it is rejected, conviction in the form of " am I really saved" this is supposed to lead to repentance when we think this. making it sure, is when we are walking in the spirit. in other words if we are doing what we know he wants us to do, there is no doubt in us he assures us we are elected and called
