Our country is personal for us too.....and the well being of our children and the fighting against it of falling into the hands of people who think like you. You have it backwards. The people didn't change the constitution from it allowing slavery to not allowing slavery. The constitution has always [implicitly] went against the notion of slavery ideologically. The mob just went against it.

Excuse me? You're being WAAAY out of line... Sir, you're the one stepping on the American flag every time try to enforce your emotional views on abortion or gay marriage or whatever on the rest of the population in this country. The death penalty is a proven failure as a deterrent. I do support it if the criminal chooses it as an option, but it's an evil to put them to death, especially now with DNA evidence and more and more inmates are released and proven innocent. Also, many inmates on death row are mentally challenged. None of them could have chosen to do otherwise in the moment they did something unlawful. It is an unfortunate truth that you or me or anyone could not have acted differently with the precise same backround, environmental cause and effect, genes, and neuron firing in the brain. Capital punishment is wrong regardless of what the person does. They should never be treated cruelly and subjected to unusual punishment...they should be treated civilly and we should try to rehabilitate them if possible. Sweden and Denmark has a far more successful prison system than we do.

If the congress and the president wanted to legalize slavery again ...God forbid ..they would have to amend the constitution through a constitutional process ..the point being the constitution can be changed by the will of the people ..whenever the will of the people becomes strong enough to change it ... "we the people" by the people and for the people ... that's who rules this nation.
I served this country with honors and represented our flag with integrity. I didn't get past your first sentence because I don't bother to read blathering nonsense that's not indented with paragraphs.
