Martin Luther escaped Romanism, but did not drop all things Catholic. The clerical pyramid hierarchy and honorific titles that SQUELCHES the body of Christ into impotence. They are with us today.

Squelch: to stop something from doing something. In this case, the body of Christ is subdued, the gifts and functions not allowed to be expressed in the open meeting that Paul described. One salaried man and a team has replaced the every member participation meeting with Christ as Head paradigm. Can somebody say 'Whoopie?'

Too bad that Martin Luther did not have you to counsel him on this great error. You could have saved all of humanity from this great travesty of the modern church.

According to your wisdom Christ is powerless as the head of His church.

If you have the gifts from God you claim then God would place you where you can use them unless your self will is in opposition to His perfect divine will.

For the cause of Christ

Catholicism has CURSED this world along with every other false relgion. Countless souls in the millions, if not billions are going to burn in hell for the monster of Catholicism! Arms of this poison have reached into so many churches worldwide unawares! Catholicism is like cancer, it just keeps spreading, even chemotherapy can't kill it! But only by shining the sword of Spirit, the Word of God, can it be rebuked and dismembered from the seams!

Brother roaringkitten,

Acts 22:16

1 Pet 3:21

Gal 3:27

Have YOU been baptized?

Are you now preaching AGAINST baptism?

Are you saying that we should do away with it?

Don't even bother, with being baptized, when you become a believer? Forget about it, don't bother,...... really?

There was baptism long before the beast (Rome)and the Antichrist (Caesar, Bishop of Rome), tried to take the title of the ONLY, ONLY Israel (church).

For some it is a "work," if your "heart" is not in it.

For others it is an act of faith, and the beginning of many "acts of faith".

Will you forbid a believer, from doing an act of faith?

Acts 10:44-48, 47 Will you be the one that forbids the waters of baptism?

Is EVERY thing that Rome teaches wrong? They teach that Jesus rose again and that He will return.

I believe that Rome is the Beast, BUT I CANNOT, JUDGE ANY INDIVIDUAL WHO CLAIMS THE NAME OF JESUS.

Every teaching must be evaluated on it's own, and compared to the Bible.

Baptism can be a "work" if your heart is not in it (infant), But for the repentant believer it is an act of faith,

Will you forbid baptism?

Let's see, I left that can of worms around here somewhere, oh, here they are!

No I don't feel better. Why would any Christian on here feel good, while people on this forum teach damnable heresy that will send people to hell? Not to mention it is against the rules here to do so! Do you want me to just let oldhermit and his sympathizers spew his water gospel unhindered? He already deceived CEF, how many deceived people is acceptable to you? Doesn't the Bible call us to EARNESTLY contend for the faith?

" Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 1:3

The truth will set people free!

Read the other thread John! Where have I condemned water baptism? I condemned the teaching that water baptism washes sins away which is what oldhermit teaches and I watched him confuse a new professing believer last night! I know his sympathizers are crawling out the woodwink now to defend his water gospel, but I will keep contending for the faith!

And yes, I was water baptized after I believed the gospel!

Being water-baptized DOES NOT save a person. What saves them is believing in Jesus and that he died for our sins, and declaring him their Lord and Savior. Whoever said that you have to be baptized in order to be saved, is full of baloney. We get water baptized because Jesus commands it, but we DON'T do it to get saved.

I don't think this is the appropriate way to go about correcting someone--that's all.

But you should feel better. There's something big to consider you should take comfort in. The Holy Spirit leads the true believer into truth. If that young lady is deceived in any way, yet she is born of the Spirit, she will learn the truth.

We have all spent our lives learning to understand sound doctrine, learning some things in scripture say something different than what we may have initially thought. We weren't damned, for not understanding all doctrine, and none of us understand everything, to date. But we can take comfort that the power of God, the Holy Spirit, leads into truth, it sure that basic seed of the gospel, falling on the good ground of the repentant heart before God, will grow into a tree. Nobody plucks anything from God's hand.

As a mature Christian, are you fooled by any of it? Well, I'm not either. You can also count-in a number of other dittos to this, from other users here, under the BDF bigtop. Don't get exercised that you need to, as if, hide false doctrine from peoples' eyes, refute every crackpot statement. What's important is people get saved, first, then the rest will follow. Anybody who is a deceiver is wasting their time, only deceiving themselves and those who they can deceive, which are those who don't yet believe, as, and this is important, true believers are not forever deceived. See what I mean? If that young lady believes, offer what you can, but take heart she's in God's powerful hands, not people of their private, crackpot religions, cults, tares or message board trolls.

You give some people of the world too much power, to think they're damning anybody by telling lies. The world is full of lies, everywhere you look, but it's not causing you a problem seeing the truth, is it? Well, we can thank the Spirit of Christ, Christ who overcomes the world, Christ who gives us eyes that see and ears that hear! Have joy in this, offer what you can, and leave some spiritual things for God to sort out, because He will.

These people who teach the water gospel get a rebuke, exactly what Paul did many times in his ministry!

"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Gal 1:6-9

Don't look at me, this Scripture says the troublemakers are the ones who pervert the gospel! It's on them as the reason why there is discord! False doctrine deserves a stern rebuke! I'm simply contending for the faith as the Bible exhorts all believers to do(Jude 1:3)

Alright. So, is this...

(Your recent post to this thread.)

...a rebuke?

It appeared to me as a more general lament (not addressing any specific instance) rather than a direct rebuke.

I admire and sympathize with your zeal for truth, but just rebuke it and go get yourself a Popsicle or something. It's sort of on the order of what General Patton said, that he liked moving forward, didn't like paying for the same real estate twice. Scripture also admonishes us not to get mired in disputings, 1 Timothy 6. It's not healthy to let anybody on a message board disturb you, as there are those who are here, just for that purpose. Don't fall for that, and don't feed them! I'd never spent a minute here, at the expense of inner peace. It would be wholly unprofitable, if I took the endless garbage to heart.

IDK but it seems to me that Catholics worship relics and rituals rather than Christ and oh by the way place their faith in the Pope and Mother Mary rather than the cross.

I appreciate your words as always friend. I know that Christians can become deceived too, and God keeps them saved as He is all powerful! As you might know, I rarely publically rebuke people on here. When I see blatant false doctrine about salvation being spewed it really irritates me because I hate seeing the truth of the Word attacked! I know there are many on this forum who will not agree with every doctrine in the Bible. But the doctrine of salvation is essential, and the gospel is worth fighting for!

Well, it is lamentable. I felt that way, the first couple weeks after getting a user ID here. It quickly gets to be like a corpse, though, the initial sorrow over its death, but the worms reducing it to a skeleton, a medical oddity, hanging in the corner. It's like that boy in the movie, "I see dead people." It becomes sort of matter of fact, a way of life. "They still don't believe the Bible? What else is new?"

In light of Phil 2:14, There are instances/occasions when one should dispute, an example:

"Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him." Acts 17:17

We know Paul did so from the Scriptures(Acts 17:2). We also know Paul was a fiery defender of the gospel as we saw in Gal 1:6-9! Disputing petty things is discouraged in the Bible. But we are to contend earnestly for the faith!(Jude 1:3) If that means disputing the Word of God then we are back to Acts 17:17!
