Losing Salvation

Amen...and of course there is the fact that it's Christ righteousness not ours that makes us in right standing with our Father. We are one spirit with Christ so He would have to lose His righteousness in order for us to lose our righteousness that is in Him only. This whole thing about losing salvation is based totally on works-based righteousness and mis-reading scriptures to suit a man-made doctrine.

This example doesn't make sense to me because the bible says you can leave your wife if she cheats on you. And God will send those to hell who thought they were His servant- for they called Him Lord and thought they were saved.

There are those who believe grace is their own personal possession which they can never lose because it is eternal. In other words, because GOD has given it to them, he can never take it away, no matter what they do.

God does not give grace. He acts in grace. God does not give salvation He acts in salvation. Neither are ours to lose. He finishes what He starts.

People just don't seem to understand that God only gives the gift of grace to those who obey Him. Nothing we could ever do could wash away even one sin, so it is not our obedience that saves- but God's grace. But we don't continue to receive it unless we continue to obey Him. HE says IF you confess your sins and have fellowship with Him then He will continue to cleanse you. How do people skidaddle right on over the word 'if'?

Eph 2:4-9

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

I believe when you study this verse out in context you will find it is referring to the Jews in Jerusalem because of when Titus with the Roman army came and killed over 1 1/2 million Jews in 70 AD.

But even a verse intended for a certain people and time period also has meaning for us as well. How would this verse not have any meaning for us today?

I do read my bible in context, and I know this is so because I consider the meaning of all scriptures together, even the ones that say "if". I have absolute respect for what it is saying. I don't have respect for the teaching that you can put forth no effort, do whatever you please, and God will save you.

Dead in sin doesn't mean that a person can't respond to the holy spirit.

Grace can only be given if you are a true believer with true faith, once you have that you will be sealed with the Holy Ghost. If you say that you have a true belief and faith there will be a change inside the person. You will not one day wake up and start worshiping idols, if you do you probably never had a true salvation experience. The bible is talking about true believers who have been baptized into the body of Christ whom cannot lose there salvation.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

We did not earn our salvation or pay for it the Lord Jesus Christ did with the death, burial, and resurrection. How can we then takeaway something that we did not earn, it is a free gift from the Lord to those who believe.

I have a few questions for you who believe you can lose your salvation.

At what point or what sin will cause you to lose your salvation?
Have you always been 100% obedient?
Have you ever lost your salvation?
How many times have you been saved?

Now be honest with us.

There is a vast difference between man and God. Our righteousness is not based on what we do..but what Jesus did for us. It's called the gospel of the grace of Christ.

As far as the scripture Lord, Lord goes..

Notice that in Matt 7:19-23..Jesus said "I never knew you "...these people were not believers...( Jesus never said " I used to know you once...He said I NEVER knew you at all...).

Everyone when they see Jesus will call Him Lord.....

Jesus did the "will of God"...and delivered us from this present evil world

It is God in us that gives us the will and the ability to do His will.

The Will of the Father is to believe on Jesus.

The good works we do are from "being in Christ"..being lead by the Holy Spirit. Notice God has prepared them for us. We walk them out as we life our lives dependent on Him. It is His fruit that bears in and through us.

From what you've said in the past, not even apostasy can separate a person from GOD. Which translates into salvation by grace apart from faith.

Acts 16:31. The moment we believe, we are saved.

And from what you have said in the past................you need to do Acts 16:31. Get saved buddy.

that if we disobey God, we lose our salvation that we once had and go to hell. lol

if you want to believe in a God who goes back on his word, unreedems you, un-births you again, un-regenerates you, and un-creates you again then go ahead.

If you want to believe in a God who has to use scare tactics to get his children to obey him then go ahead.

If you want to believe that the spirit of God dwells in you, but is trying its hardest and fails to keep you, therefore ultimately making the Spirit which you once possessed pointless and meaningless then go ahead.

Right, we were dead in our trespasses, then God gave grace to the obedient. God does not give the gift of grace to most people- only to those who obey. Wide is the gate that leads to destruction and most enter through it. Everyone sins, but to those who actively obey God, God gives the gift of grace. Yes we were lost in sin, and Jesus died giving the whole world the opportunity to obey and be saved. But only those who obey will receive grace.

How does this verse below not be true then? In the below verse...we are all blotted out of the book because we have all sinned. If you take a scripture out of it's context - that text will con you.

There is truth and then there is a higher truth that supersedes.

if your saved YOU WILL OBEY! that's not hard to understand. you will obey because you want to obey and the reason you want to obey is because you are a new creature. born again etc.

you believe that salvation is dependence on a persons obedience. ? I say salvation is dependant on Gods goodness and grace.

Hello???? God gives grace to the undeserving ... not the obedient. God gives grace to the sinner.. SINNER how are you so biblically illiterate it shocks me.

Grace is not dependant on MY OBEDIENCE. Grace is dependant on GODS GOODNESS.

If we disobey God (and we will) He is faithful to forgive us IF (if, if, if) we confess our sins and have fellowship with Him. But IF we do not confess our sins, or have fellowship with Him (prayer), and leave the church (Christ's body), then yes, we are no longer in a safe state.
