Johnlove, what about the 'hard' sayings of Jesus?

Have you sold your possessions and given alms? Do you own the computer on which you've typed your post?
When I accepted Jesus call, he asked me to give him my life. When I was about to say yes to giving Jesus my life, the Holy Spirit let me know that if I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I would lose everything owned by me. A few months later found me living in a tent, with my three babies, my wife, and her dog. I raised a family of four children earning not much more than minimum wage. Never had a savings account or owned anything of value. Everything I use now is owned in common with others. About the way the Christians did in Acts.

How about lust?

Have you ever looked at a woman with lust?
The Holy Spirit has had me so full of doing God’s Will that concerning myself with physical pleasures such as lusting after another women would never happen.

Which eye did you pluck out?

What happened the next time you looked at a woman with lust?

If you have followed the words of Jesus to the letter, how are you seeing this post?

What you are not 'seeing' is that Jesus was not saying those things in order to get you to follow those words, but to raise the bar of the Law - it's not just in the physical act of adultery that sin occurs, but in the mind where sin occurs. Sin simply comes to fruition in the flesh. Jesus was teaching the spirituality of the Law - and in doing so was raising the bar of the Law to an even more unattainable level - pointing us to Him, not Law, for our righteousness. This was not completely understood until after the Work of Christ. That's why Jesus said,

Hyperbole! Wow! How dumb do you think I am? The Holy Spirit/Jesus makes sure that is always do as God would have me do. There is never a time that I am in danger of not doing God’s Will.
Jesus/Holy Spirit has taught me for over forty years, and I know from God what God wants his Children to live.

1
2 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. (from Jn. 16)
Yes his disciples were taught by him for three years, and yet to them to come to a full understanding the were given the Holy Spirit to teach them. Jesus also gave us his Holy Spirit to teach us.

(1 John 2: 27) “But you have not lost the anointing that he gave you, and you do not need anyone to teach you; the anointing he gave teaches you everything: you are anointed with truth, not with a lie, and as it has taught you, so you must stay in him.”

Yet He did give His disciples this to chew on beforehand:

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (from Jn. 13)
Again love is a gift from God, and first one has to love God, and to do that one has to keep God’s Commandments. When one keep God Commandments it will be because of the grace the Holy Spirit has given him or her. And one the fruits of the Holy Spirit is love.

(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”

(John 14:21) “Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; and anybody who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and show myself to him.” By the way have you seen Jesus? I have seen Jesus Christ our Lord and God.

(Galatians 5:22-26) “On the other hand the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control; no law can touch such things as these. All who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with all its passions and its desires. Since we are living by the Spirit, let our behavior be guided by the Spirit and let us not be conceited or provocative and envious of one another

And that's what He did, through the Holy Spirit after the Ascension. The result is the writings of the Apostles, which clarify what the Work of Christ accomplished, what that means, and who we are in Christ.
First that understanding is just an assumption on your part. Also to be in Jesus one has to live as Jesus lived, and Jesus always obeyed his Father in Heaven, and that mean he did not sin.

(1 John 2:4 -6) “Anyone who says, 'I know him', and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, refusing to admit the truth." but when anyone does obey what he has said, God's love comes to perfection in him." We can be sure that we are in God only when the one who claims to be living in him is living the same kind of life as Christ lived.” Jerusalem Bible

One of the key things is that we are dead to the Law:

4 Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ,
so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. 5 For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. 6 But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code. (from Rom. 7)

Do you see that we must be dead to the Law in order to serve God after the Cross?

It is very clear :).

And Jesus' commandment to love one another is reiterated in 1 Jn. 3:23-24:

23
And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another,
just as he has commanded us. 24 Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
It really is that simple :).

-JGIG
Notice abides in him. If one sin he or she does not abide in Jesus Christ our Lord and God, but they abide in the devil.

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is a child of God. This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not live uprightly and does not love his brother is not from God” New Jerusalem bible

Notice what distinguishes a Child of God from a Child of the devil.

(John 12:47-48) “If anyone hears my words and does not keep them faithfully, it is not I who shall condemn him, since I have come not to condemn the world, but to save the world: he who rejects me and refuses my words has his judge already: the word itself that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.”

All the words Jesus gave us are God’s Commandments. Apostle John gave us God’s Words, and the following scripture is one of God’s Commandments.

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s”

Congratulations!

You have achieved god-hood, being perfect as He is perfect and without sin and doing the perfect will of God!

You are so proud, as you should be for such an accomplishment.

Yes his disciples were taught by him for three years, and yet to them to come to a full understanding the were given the Holy Spirit to teach them. Jesus also gave us his Holy Spirit to teach us.

You're turning a gift into something that you have to do something to get - that's not a gift:

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (from Rom. 4)

I have a question for you: Were your children required to obey you before you gave them your love?

(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”

(John 14:21) “Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; and anybody who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and show myself to him.” By the way have you seen Jesus? I have seen Jesus Christ our Lord and God.

So you're equating not sinning with keeping God's commandments. I would agree. The question is, what are God's commandments after the Cross?

John answers that internally in 1 John, in chapter 3, vs. 23-34:

23 And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. 24 Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

In the same letter, John tells us 'little children' (those who are in Christ) that when we DO sin, we have an advocate, Christ Jesus our Perfect High Priest, Who will always intercede for us.

But that's not something you seem to need, since we have your testimony that you have achieved perfect sinlessness (sinless perfection).

Notice abides in him. If one sin he or she does not abide in Jesus Christ our Lord and God, but they abide in the devil.

God does not demand what He does not provide. John is talking, in context, about LOVE. As you noted in an earlier passage, LOVE is the Fruit of the Spirit. I wrote this elsewhere:

A commenter at JGIG’s Facebook page asked this excellent question out of frustration:

Andrea wrote,
“But I can’t love because it is a command – Because I am under grace
[and not under law]. Do see how you guys make absolutely NO SENSE?!”

Andrea was referring to the quoting of this passage:

1 John 3:21-24

21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

It’s a great question! If we’re not under Law, but after the Cross God commands us to love – sometimes referred to as the Law of Christ – what’s up with that?!

Here’s the really cool thing:

Love is a Fruit of the Spirit as well as a command. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Though love is a command, it’s also a fruit.

Do fruit-producing plants strive to produce fruit? No . . . the branches bear fruit because they are attached to the vine/tree/plant which nourishes them. Fruit is the by-product of LIFE, and it takes time for fruit to be produced. If you are in Christ and are led by His Spirit, love will be a fruit produced in you. If you are alive in Christ, abiding in Him, allowing His Holy Spirit to live through you, love is an unavoidable by-product of that relationship, fulfilling God’s command to love!

Commanding the one in Christ to love is like commanding a person who has life in them to breathe because it’s a law. If a person has life in them, they automatically breathe – it’s something that we just DO.
If we are in Christ, loving others is something that we just DO.

To command those in Christ to love is a ridiculously-unfair-in-our-favor-win-win-deal!

Here’s the other really cool thing:

We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

By resting in the love of Christ and letting Him live His Life through us, bearing His Fruits, God’s command to love is obeyed (John 15:12, 1 John 3:23) and the Law is fulfilled (Romans 13:8-10, Galatians 5:14).

That is Grace.

And because of Grace and being led by the Spirit, when we love, we are not murdering, stealing, committing adultery, worshipping other gods, bearing false witness . . . do you see where this is going?

Can you begin to see how Jesus is our Sabbath Rest?
Note that fruit does not come out fully formed and completely ripe.

Good fruit takes time.

Don’t judge the blossom because it’s not yet a strawberry.

Love is the Fruit and gift of God, not a work that we produce through commandment-keeping.

Congratulations!

Your sarcasm show just how little you understand of what God has made possible for those he called.

You are so proud, as you should be for such an accomplishment.

So is love a gift or is it something that one has to earn?

You're turning a gift into something that you have to do something to get - that's not a gift:
The gift is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also gives one the grace to obey God. The Gift of Love is what one receives along with the Holy Spirit, and as long as one obeys the Holy Spirit he or she will keep the gift of love.
(Romans 8:1-4) “The reason, therefore, why those who are in Christ Jesus are not condemned, is that the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. God has done what the Law, because of our unspiritual nature, was unable to do. God dealt with sin by sending his own Son in a body as physical as any sinful body, and in that body God condemned sin he did this in order the Law’s just demands might be satisfied in us, who behave not as our unspiritual nature but as the spirit dictates.”

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (from Rom. 4)
Yes and if it was man’s work that one belied would make it so he or she could keep God’s Commandments, what Paul said is true. But Paul knew that it is God’s Work in his Children that keeps him or her safe from Satan/sin.

People so misread what Paul wrote, and do so to their death.

(2 Peter 3:15-16) “Think of our Lord’s patience as your opportunity to be saved: our brother Paul, who is so dear to us, told you this when he wrote to you with the wisdom that is his special gift. He always writes like this when he deals with this sort of subject, and this makes some points in his letter hard to understand; these are the points that uneducated and unbalanced people distort, in the same way as they distort the rest of scripture a fatal thing for them to do.”

I have a question for you: Were your children required to obey you before you gave them your love?
No, but after receiving my love, if the deliberately disobeyed me they were sharply disciplined.

Jesus gave us his Holy Spirit, and his Children have told the Holy Spirit they love Jesus Christ our Lord and God. When one deliberately disobeys Jesus Christ they have lied to the Holy Spirit. That is insulting the Holy Spirit, and there is no repentance for insulting the Holy Spirit.

(Acts 5:1-11) The Fraud of Ananias and Sapphira, Peter said they lied to the Holy Spirit, and they will never be forgiven.

Notice John is at first writing to children. Children are infants in Christ, and not yet spiritual. (1 Corinthians 3:1-3)

Also one should notice that Jesus Christ is our advocate, and it says say he is upright/just. A just advocate will make sure that one receives what he or she deserves. If one disobeys God Jesus will make sure he or she receives the just punishment.

Having an advocate does not mean that Jesus will just forget that one disobeyed him.

Then John goes on to say if one says they know God and don’t keep his commandments, they are liars.
John say one has to walk as Jesus walked to remain in Jesus.

Notice what John tells us about those who hear the Word and don’t live that Word.

(John 12:47-48) “If anyone hears my words and does not keep them faithfully, it is not I who shall condemn him, since I have come not to condemn the world, but to save the world: he who rejects me and refuses my words has his judge already; the word itself that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.”

But that's not something you seem to need, since we have your testimony that you have achieved perfect sinlessness (sinless perfection).
Did I say that I have achieved sinless perfection? No you said that. I say that Jesus/Holy Spirit given to me has achieved sinless perfection in me.

God does not demand what He does not provide. John is talking, in context, about LOVE. As you noted in an earlier passage, LOVE is the Fruit of the Spirit. I wrote this elsewhere:

(Matthew 5:48) “Even the pagans do as much, do they not? You must therefore be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Notice perfect as the Father in Heaven is perfect. Jesus described what perfect meant.

Jesus made it possible for his Children to obey him. He gave us his Holy Spirit which gives us the power to defeat Satan/sin.

A commenter at JGIG’s Facebook page asked this excellent question out of frustration:

Keeping God’s Commandments is loving one’s neighbor, and loving God.

Jesus told us how one will know it he or she is loving God or not.

(John 14: 23) “Anyone who loves me will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.”

(John 14:21) “Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; and anybody who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and show myself to him.”

If God has not shown himself to you then he said you are not keeping his commandments, and don’t love him.

Now tell me honestly have you actually seen Jesus Christ our Lord and God.

I tell you honestly that Jesus has shown himself to me, and I have seen him.

Johnlove do you believe sinless perfection is attainable for believers in this life?

Just curious.

Johnlove do you believe sinless perfection is attainable for believers in this life?

Just curious.
To become sinless is not something one attains. It is something that is given to those who give their lives to God. Giving one’s life to God means he or she allows God’s Will to always be done in his or her life.

The Holy Spirit/Jesus will always keep one who has given their lives to God, free from sin, meaning they will always keep God’s Commandments.

Becoming sinless is not ours to achieve. All one can do is pray to receive the Holy Spirit and then be given the grace to give one’s will to God.

After giving my life to Jesus, he decided everything I have done for almost forty years.

Johnlove, you r e a l l y need to learn how to use quote tags and STOP replying within other folks' posts.

It makes it look, to the random reader, as though 'JGIG' for instance, said stuff they did not say, even if you're using a different color/font/bolding.

It also makes it more difficult for someone to reply to your posts, quoting them, because they have to go in and copy/paste all of what you put in SOMEONE ELSE'S POST.

Most annoying.

You can break down another's post by putting quote tags around each portion you want to respond to without typing within their entire quote.

Easy to make a claim like that when no witnesses are present.

It is my witness. Also it is not my job to try and convince anyone. Only the Holy Spirit can convince anyone of the truth. I am just supposed to give a word.

Where is the word sinless?

Sinless as in what "without sin" in your members or as one having has sinned (in a past tense sense) but still has sin in their members (in the present tense) but not continuing to sin (under grace) which has given them the dominion over the same, that they obey it not in the lusts thereof.

Or just as pure as the driven snow, never having (sinned, past tense) has no sin (within ones members, present tense) and does not continue to sin (whether wilfully, or otherwise) whether by doing evil, or whether by not doing the good they know to do (and does it not).

How is sinless defined in either the scripture or by some "heretics for dummies" book?

There are no contextual Scriptures to support your assertions.

The absurdity of what you're claiming is epic, Johnlove.

Apostle John said any wrongdoing is sin. But he also said not all sin leads to death. A deliberate wrongdoing by one who has been given the knowledge of the truth is one that leads to death.
(Hebrews 10:26-31) “If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them. There is left only the dreadful prospect of judgment and of the fiery wrath that is to devour your enemies. Anyone who disregards the Law of Moses is ruthlessly put to death on the word of two witnesses or three; and you may be sure that anyone who tramples on the Son of God, and who treats the blood of the covenant which sanctified him as if it were not holy, and who insults the Spirit of grace, will be condemned to a far severer punishment. We are all aware who it was that said: Vengeance is mine; I will vindicate his people. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Scripture tells us what wrong doings are, but it takes the Holy Spirit to give one the knowledge to understand all that God wants us to live.

I know what the scripture says, it is this word "sinless" I want it defined, or a link to an accepted expert on the word I cannot find in scripture. Typically words get changed to weasle things a bit, so it was the word I was loking for so I could refer to it as it is defined (by whomever) whenever discussing this sinless thing.

(1 John 5: 16) “If anybody sees his brother commit a sin that is not a deadly sin, he has only to pray, and God will give life to the sinner - not those who commit a deadly sin; for there is a sin that is death, and I will not say that you must pray about that. Every kind of wrongdoing is sin, but not all sin is deadly.

Some people define sin as missing the mark. But the people who did the translating of the written Word to English just said a wrong doing is sin.

There are no contextual Scriptures to support your assertions.

The absurdity of what you're claiming is epic, Johnlove.
Scripture says the following, and it seem you want to believe it is not in context, but you have failed to show just how it is out of context. I believe you don’t want to believe the following scripture, and that is called cognitive dissonance.

(1 John 2:5 -6) “Whoever says, 'I know him' without keeping his commandments, is a liar, and truth has no place in him. But anyone who does keep his word, in such a one God's love truly reaches its perfection. This is the proof that we are in God. Whoever claims to remain in him must act as he acted.”

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s”

(1 John 3:5-6) “Now you know that he appeared in order to abolish sin, and that in him there is no sin; anyone who lives in God does not sin, and anyone who sins has never seen him or known him.”

Okay, thanks for answering.

What are Jesus' commandments? You are saying that unless we keep all of Jesus commandments we are not children of God but of the devil.

Ok...here we go....Jesus gave this commandment " Go preach the gospel..in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria..etc"

Have you done this yet? If you have not gone to Jerusalem to preach the gospel - you have dis-obeyed Jesus and are in fact according to your "application" of scripture...a child of the devil.

There must be more to this "keep His commandments" then meets the eye.

Thank God that John tells us exactly what His commandments are.

1 John 3:23-24 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

[SUP]24 [/SUP] The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

John says that we ought to walk as Jesus walked too. How did Jesus walk?

He said that He relied completely on the Father doing the works through Him and it was not Him but His Father doing the works.

We live the same way - by relying completely on the life of Christ on the inside of us and believing in all that He has done for us in His finished work.

See, how simple the true Christian life is? It is all about believing in Jesus.

2 Corinthians 11:3 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

The Written Word of God did not record all of the Words Jesus spoke. The Apostle wrote about some of what Jesus said, and there words were given to them by Jesus.
A Christian is guided by the Holy Spirit, and follows Jesus Christ. Jesus/Holy Spirit will give one what he or she is to do. And nothing they are told to do will conflict with the New Testament written Word of God.

Gotcha...so do we neglect the commandment of Jesus to go to preach the gospel first in Jerusalem?...if we did not go there..are we not dis-obeying the Lord?..

...so to say "we must obey the commandments of the Lord" or we are children of the devil.

- this statement above needs to be qualified. Do you agree with that?

.....obviously we need to interpret scripture with other scripture and through the lens of the finished work of Christ.

Would you agree with that?

Not everyone is a preacher.

(Ephesians 4:11-13) “And to some, his gift was that they should be apostles; to some, prophets; to some, evangelists; to some pastors and teachers; so that the saints together' make a unity in the work of service, building up the body of Christ. -In this way we are to come to unity in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God, until we become the perfect Man,' fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself,”
