if you believe the bible, we are all born with everything we need to be nasty jerks, as this doesn't come from how others treat us, but rather, a wickedly evil sin nature. in fact, the bible makes this crystal clear:

And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand:There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.

~mark 7:14, 15

the passage goes on to say that all of the evil things that come from us come from our hearts. which is why our only hope is to give ourselves over to the Lord, and through sanctification, we can hope to become more like Christ and less of our (evil) self.

the good news is that you, wise, are no more subject to your sin nature than me, or anyone else if you are a christian. God promises to work in the heart of every saved person, faithful to complete us and the transformation that begins on the day any person becomes saved.

Just a couple of thoughts:

1) Your standard is not supposed to be how others treat you, but rather Christ is our standard. I know it sounds simple, but we aren't supposed to return our horrible treatment with horrible treatment toward others.

2) I am sure there are many who can play the "I had it worse" game, but they refused to let it dictate how they lived their lives. I don't doubt you had cruddy circumstances, but it doesn't relegate you to being a "mean, nasty jerk."

3) In my time here on CC, I don't think I have ever heard you talk anything about your spiritual life. Where you are in your relationship with Christ is going to greatly affect how you deal with the treatment of others, both toward them and from them.

Hey mate, I just want to say that yes I have never met you, yes I actually have never talked to you but i know that your 'jerky' actions do not difine you, and life is full of mistakes, it's when you make the same mistake again that it turns into a choice. you're mistakes aren't the things that people think of when they think of you, you shouldn't either. you are in control of you love.

A translation of Philippians 2:4

not looking to your own advantage only but each of you to the advantage of the others.

A way of looking at Matthew 7:12

So in everything, do/say to others what you would have them do/say to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Come to think of it, I never have either. There are some people that when I see their username I scan quickly through the post instead of reading every word, but I never have actually put anybody on ignore.

That's a shame. There are a couple of people here I have learned to read what they write. I won't mention their names, lest it goes to their heads.

But yeah, usually I ignore text walls too. Or scan them lightly to see if I should read deeper.

are you sure you want to encourage others to make sweeping assumptions about people and their character on the basis of the threads they start? : )

Hey, you're doing better than one other user in this thread. Every time i open a thread and things are going well, this one user usually starts out with something negative. So you're not as mean and nasty as at least one person here. =D

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

"We believe everybody has a right to be free, but you ain't respecting our rights. So we gonna have to break up with y'all across the ocean and be our own country now."

GETTYSBURG ADDRESS

"A long time ago our ancestors made a nation here, but bickering and feuding have got it all tore up. So we're gonna dedicate this graveyard to remind people that we really oughta pull together and try to make life better instead of fighting amongst ourselves like this."

But it's not the bottom line, because I'm posting one below it.

And I disagree with you too, probably because I'm just disagreeable. :p
