I miss seeing Robins everywhere. I can't remember ever having spotted one in Norway, even though they should in theory not be all that rare.

It does get annoying when they sit screeching in the middle of a town where they technically don't belong though.

Yeah, they are hard to hit, even with a shotgun.
 
i was able to take this picture today -- which is kinda remarkable considering what i'm using ((not a special high-speed camera, though a professional-grade digital SLR)).

i went outside to take out some trash, and saw my favorite lizard hanging out on some warm bricks, so i went in to get the camera. the lizard scurried away before i could get a picture of him . . :(
but on the lantana out front there was a hummingbird moth. i followed her around for a while. this is the best thing that came out of it:

? all the 'good' insect guides i know are for continental USA only; i don't know. they're not all colored like bees, like the ones that i see most often. in the pink lantana in the back, there were 4 or 5 hummingbird moths last night all at once!

our lantana (we have several) are home to lots of different bugs. several species of moths, and bees, and wasps, butterflies. lizards that hunt them, spiders, mantis. last night it was raining and i stepped out front to see if a there might be a rainbow, and a box turtle was standing there on my porch! i called for my wife to see & the turtle looked up at me & hissed and tried to take off toward the bushes ;)
i picked him up, and waited for my wife to meet him, and we said hello together. then, when i put the turtle down again ((who was not shy at all)) he scurried under the lantana & settled himself there. i wonder if he is there all the time?

actual hummingbirds come to these bushes too -- they are quite an ecosystem all in themselves :)
 
Once i found an old book of butterflies from the southern US i think--cant remember-)--but in time passed this on to a friend's child (or an inlaw's--again cant remember-). But a fave lizard...! Will wait for his/her shot.

I thot to remove some straying vines here when i saw there werent very many leaves after all. there must be more than a dozen of the moth/butterfly caters so i'll just leave them alone and wait til they grow!

Here's an interesting one...and the hair just looks so fine, not scary?

I wanted to post a photo of daddylonglegs, 2 of which i saw on the damp wall the other day. But a short vid shows better how funny it moves. Never mind whose vid it is, idk if the info were right also, but just that they arent spiders although they look like one.

Last night i saw farley the firefly... all alone. Fireflies are quite rare here now... at times one or 2 pass by, thats all.
