Now that the Trumps have been honest about the situation,we all see how politicians are now because they were all coming up with scenarios Instead of recognizing what happened and calling It for what It Is.

BTW,I wonder If the poll vote will suddenly start going up now? lol.

Yeah, but it DOES point out that the whole Trump machine is lacking in professional accuracy. He cannot afford stupid mistakes like that if he happens to get elected.... which, as I have said before, is not too great a likelihood. He's the better choice, but Hillary has the numbers behind her.
I like what you said but although he may be a better choice as far as he can't be accused of doing what Hillary did,I think when It comes to maturity,It wouldn't be mature for a voter to vote Trump ,who In my opinion has some kind of mental problem,Into the white house.

Unfortunately, if we put Hillary in there, it may not be America's White House much longer.

Like I said in an earlier post. We will always be voting for the lessor of two evils until Jesus returns.

Melania Trump speechwriter admits 'mistake' in lifting Michelle Obama lines | Fox News
A speechwriter for Melania Trump took the blame Wednesday for lifting passages from a 2008 Michelle Obama speech, admitting she made a “mistake” – while saying she offered her resignation, but it was rejected.

In a written apology put out by the Donald Trump campaign responding to the furor, a self-described “in house staff writer” at the Trump Organization named Meredith McIver said she worked with Melania Trump on her opening-night convention speech.
She said that she wrote down passages from the first lady's speech during planning discussions, after Melania Trump mentioned them as the kind of message she wanted to share.
“I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech,” she said. “I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant.”
The statement comes after Trump campaign officials repeatedly denied plagiarism charges a day earlier, and downplayed the controversy over the strikingly similar passages.
The similarities were noticed shortly after Melania's otherwise well-received speech, and the controversy dogged the Trump campaign for much of the convention's second day. Even ex-campaign manager Corey Lewandowski urged his replacement, Paul Manafort, to find out who was responsible.
I respect Trump for handling this situation the way that he is. He is showing grace and compassion for the mistakes the speech writer made, fully knowing that Melania told her that she admires Michelle Obama.

It's my sincere hope that those who will defend Trump, even when he is clearly in the wrong, will follow suit with the way he has owned his mistake and to not make excuses for clearly inexcusable actions. The best way for a small cut to turn septic is to ignore and be in denial you have a cut to begin with. The venomous political environment will cause the cut to fester and could potentially cause for a more serious problem.

It's also my sincere hope that the anti-Trump people move on from this mistake. Trump owned it, handled it responsibly and admirably, and we shouldn't poke someone who has clearly owned their mistake. This should be a non-issue at this point in my honest opinion.

Whats the dilemma? You got Hillary and you got trump. If you like what Obama has done then Hillary is the clear cut and dried choice.

This poll should be who do you prefer as first spouse, Melania Trump or Bill Clinton? I prefer Melania.

did melania tell this speech writer that she admires rick astley too? i still don't think we are getting the full story...

as for trump handling this situation 'responsibly and admirably'...let's not forget that his campaign -lied- about it for an entire day...they even tried to throw a 'my little pony' character under the bus...

so it isn't a non issue...it is yet another example of a candidate whose first instinct is to lie...and yet accuses his opponent of being a serial liar...

so there was a very brief controversy about donald trump jr.'s speech also being plagiarized...lines from his speech were a match for an article written a while back...

this one has a very simple explanation though...it turns out that the author of the article in question was also junior's speech writer...legally you can't plagiarize from yourself...

it was however a bit of a blunder in that it reminds everyone that those weren't really junior's words in his 'great' speech last night...

i guess the lack of controversy over tiffany's speech makes her the smartest trump...

Don't know if this was already mentioned but a reporter on the radio just said that...

1. There were 4 speech writers contracted to write her speech, but only one wrote the part in question and admitted to it.

2. Melania is a big fan of Michelle Obama and actually showed Michelle's speech to that writer and told her she would like to incorporate similar points in her speech.

3. The writer admitted it was all her fault and turned in her resignation to the Trump campaign, but it was rejected.

4. Have a nice day. :)

there is another issue though...within hours of the speeches being made...lines were found in both melania trump's speech and donald trump jr.'s speech that matched up with previously published works...

i don't know about everyone else...but i personally doubt that most of us have an encyclopedic memory of political speeches and editorials that we know by heart...

that suggests to me that people are taking transcripts of these speeches and running them through academic plagiarism detection software...the kind they use in college to make sure that your term paper wasn't stolen or purchased from the internet...

i doubt they have gone to these lengths to scrutinize other campaigns' speeches...though of course i fault the republicans for not expecting this from the media anyway...$2 billion in free publicity during the primaries was -not- a sign that they were going to play nice with your candidate forever...

anyway i doubt they are going to be running the speeches at hillary clinton's convention through academic plagiarism detection software...but maybe some smart conservative with access to the necessary tools can do the work for them...

for someone who tried to copyright 'you're fired'...trump sure has a hard time firing people for incompetence or wrongdoing...

but i'm sure he'll hire 'the best people' eventually...i'm waiting...

Oh good grief. They didn't lie about anything. They said she did not plagiarize from michelle.... and she didn't.

What a completely silly story. Definitely not something worth all the air time it has received. This kind of ridiculousness is precisely why I don't watch TV with my EDC weapon on my person. I'd go broke replacing TVs shot in the name of silliness.

To be fair, I remember criticism of Joe Biden, and if true, rightfully so. If Trump is elected president and gets Americans killed like Hillary did, I won't give Trump a pass "because Hillary did it too." However, we aren't talking about anyone else other than Michelle and Melania's speeches. What anyone else did, what other people made a big deal about, etc... is irrelevant of the discussion aimed for in this thread.

I'm curious if it's just me that thinks the speeches are strikingly similar or if there are other people, here, who think the same.
I think I should sue both Michelle and Melania for stealing my mother's advice. Mom said it before their moms said it. How dare they?

"I never received nor sent any material that was marked classified."
"I never sent or received any classified material."

And yet what is the news stuck on? Two ladies, who aren't and never were running for President, repeated what their mommas taught them growing up.

but they did lie...they were claiming that it was pure coincidence and nothing more...see a trump spokesman's laughable appeal to a line from 'my little pony' for an example...

this is an outdated excuse that even the trump campaign has abandoned...after a day of lying they have finally admitted that those lines from melania trump's speech -were- directly derived from michelle obama's speech...see the last several posts...

possibly relevant fact...melania trump's speech writer is a registered democrat...
