I saw a Groupon yesterday for a reasonable priced Israel trip that looked pretty tempting...you'll have to tell us how your trip goes, kohenmatt and madparrotwoman
Several of the Southern States... The Carolinas, Tennessee, Alabama, and KC Mo.

We spent about 2 weeks in Scotland last year. Most beautiful place I've ever seen.

My sister and I knew we wanted to do something together in central america next year so we sketched out a budget and itinerary and opened a joint account where we've committed to put a small amount to be auto drafted from each paycheck. As soon as the balance hits our goal we're booking the flight and trip and closing the account out.
You can find lots of creative ways to finance your travels.
Also comb for deals on airline sites and travel sites....every few months or so jet blue has 72 hour flash sales that I look at.
look at low cost carriers...I know Ryanair is big in europe..I scored a flight from France to Rome on Ryanair for around 30 euros years ago for a quick weekend trip. One of my friends told me about a similar low cost airline in the states...Frontier airlines. Haven't tried them yet personally but it's on my list.
You can leverage multiple flights to save..like using a low cost to get you to a major international airport in another city with lower prices (sometimes for me I end up spending less by flying to jfk and then going international than driving to Orlando or going to Miami and flying out from there)
Look into all inclusive trips...sometimes it's cheaper to pay 1 price for transportation and lodging and a few local excursions...depends on your travel style, sometimes people prefer more flexibility
Some people use couch surf, airbnb, vrbo, and similar sites to spend less than they would at a hotel. Or if you're comfortable with camping, that might also be a cheap alternative if you can borrow or rent the equipment
Maybe start with just planning a trip itinerary as if you were going to book it today and figure out what everything costs to add some concreteness to your dream trips.

Yup, ryanair are cheap
... IF you don't have any luggage
...and make sure you print you own tickets,
(you cannot print your return tickets until a couple of days in advance, so for long stays you need access to a printer and the internet)
if you fail to do that, the cost of hving them print it at the airport is higher than the ticket I check skyscanner now and then hoping to find a good deal.
Currently though I am "working" via NAV (deals with everything from pensions to uemployment) for three months, so I can't run away quite yet
