If and when there is the real/last one depending on your beliefs, do you think he will be easily recognizable? Or well hidden?

To busy keeping my gaze on THE CHRIST.
He said His sheep hear his voice.
Gazing at Christ and ignoring everything else is by far not His instructions for He has given us much warnings about the endtimes and "the antichrist" and antichrists.

42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
In the previous verses He has given us much to gaze at. I take heed to His warnings.

Too many Christians are occupied trying to figure out who the anti-christ is, which is an unbalanced focus on that issue.

42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Not which hour your anti-Christ comes..No the hour your LORD doth come. Focus on the Lord.

43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Looks like the emphasis is once again on Jesus, not the anti-Jesus.

I never said ignore what's around, I said I'm keeping my gaze upon THE CHRIST.

As opposed to keeping my gaze on the anti-Christ.

I guess if folks want to keep their gaze on the antichrist and obsess over Satan and demons they can. That's just not my preferred focus.

The way we keep aware of the coming end isn't to obsess over who the antichrist is, rather we are to do it by continually living for Jesus. By doing that we'll always be ready for him.

By focusing on and becoming obsessed with the antichrist, all we may become aware of is, well, who the antichrist is!

The ONLY thing we need to keep in mind about the lawless one aka anti christ is this...

2 Thessalonians 2

8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming

To those who know what to look for, the actions of the antichrist will speak volumes in and of itself. To those who are ignorant of the truth they will embrace him and defend the actions they see as being for the good of others. I believe the antichrist will be well known, kind of like hiding in plain sight.

Sorry I hijacked your original intent here...

2 Thessalonians 2 is a good starting point for answering your question..

2 Thessalonians 2

The Man of Lawlessness

1Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, 2not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. 3Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for (that day will not come) until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God. 5Don't you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Sounds pretty recognizable to me. He's spoken of as being revealed and exalting himself.

The only secret thing seems to be the power of lawlessness that is currently at work before the antichrist is revealed.

We are told to watch so we know whats going on. The bible says clearly that Christians will be fooled. Maybe cause their not even bothering to look.
Lots of Christians say there no such things as demons and even say don't worry about them. If their pretending there is no enemy sure seems they may be the ones who are fooled.
Lots of Chrsitians say God doesn't talk to people. Then how could God warn them if they don't even think he talks.

If you are aligned with Christ and in good fellowship of true Christians, you will know when he comes into power. Interesting topic because I just got home tonight from attending an Endtime study, where we discussed this topic exactly. There are many things that the Bible says will happen that will indicate who he is. But it will be a very confusing time, and many will be fooled or lulled into the sense that he is here to do good. The Bible says that he will use peace to destroy many. You can imagine that he will be a wildly popular politician, for an entire world to be swayed into following him.

I know this is a crazy topic, and as a new Christian it is almost overwhelming. But it is real and something we all need to be aware of and be prepared for. No only so we can be ready, but so that we can prepare the next generation after us, just in case. You really must be informed because The Bible says that even many who are saved will fall away. Even some of the highest, most religious people.

Just my opinion :)

BTW... the Bible says he will make a 7 year covenant, but he will reign for 3 1/2 years. Which means he will be in plain sight, probably rising to his power in the first 3 1/2 years before his 3 1/2 year reign. And that he will stand in the rebuilt temple and claim to be God. So when they begin to rebuild the temple, you know his coming is eminent.

I don't believe he will be easily recognisable, no. Many Biblical prophecies have come true without people realising they have happened. I believe many Christians may wonder if he is the antichrist, some may be sure

I don't understand if you have really studied Revelations and Daniel how you won't at least have a clue who he is? He will rise up among ten kings (nations) and will strike down three of these leaders, becoming the eight, from where he will rise to power. This is just one example and if you have discernment, you will see these things playing out politically when the time comes. You will be required to take his mark, or you will not be able to buy or sell. At this point, if you are a Christian, MAJOR RED FLAG! A major religious leader will pave the way for him, with miracles and wonders, and encourage us to follow him. So many checks and balances that if you are educated well enough, and your spirit is in the right place, you will be able to discern. And if all else fails, make sure you are following an educated, spiritual and truly righteous leader, who right now is not afraid to address the answers to these questions for you, without downplaying their importance.

It is scary because you know many will be fooled. That's why it is so important to know what to look for, what to expect.

I don't know if you are replying to my post. I was told that over 300 prophecies concerning Christ were fulfilled when he lived on earth, but how many recognised the OT prophecies as they came true?
I used to think a giant hand would come out of the sky and darken a third of the earth and this would stop the sun and moon shining , I no longer do. I take your point, but Biblical prophjecies when they come true historically are not as easy to see as we may often believe.

I believe the clearest is probably Israel becoming a nation again, but I have spoken to some Christians who would disagree on that

Yes watch therefore because the 40 verses said what to watch for. Did you read those? Tells you how to watch for the second coming of Christ by watching the signs of the times.

Seemed your response was just focus on Christ and all that antichrist stuff is not important when the guy asked a simple question. I agree there needs to be balance and part of that balance is taking heed to Christs warning. My point of the post was to make sure that ALL of Christs words are to be focused on not just some.

Trying to understand, be knowlegable and prepare is quite different than being obsessed! Why would God place so much information about the antiChrist in the Bible if he didn't intend for us to read and try to discern from that information? Seems if we don't give his abundant information a bit more than a sideways glance, he wasted quite a few words, don't you think?

On the other hand, you are totally right about continually living for Jesus as well. I hope and pray that when that time comes, my spiritual walk is enough to lead me through that presumably very confusing and difficult time. I do not believe he will ever leave us hanging out to dry if our walk is as it should be. I don't ever think we should be comfortable and fail to continue reaching though. If we do that, we just may fall short.

Yeah and after telling them about anti-christ, all the bad stuff to come, what charge does he give them? Does he say get caught up in how all that will come about? Does he say get caught up in worrying about who the anti-Christ is? What exact charge does he give them?

Matthew 24:45 through the end of chapter 25 is a long charge from Jesus to be about his work.

The parable of the virgins is about folks waiting for his return.
Parable of the talents is about folks doing work for hm before his return.

The only people giving the anti-Christ attention will be those who become deceived by him. People following Jesus are more interested in HIS work.

I guess I can't really help folks who want to keep an eye out for the anti-Christ. I know Jesus told us about that dude, but he said to keep an eye out for HIM(JESUS), and to be about HIS work.

Yes very good, more warnings, 5 of the virgins obviously didn't heed Christs warnings in Ch 24. To say too many Christians are occupied with trying to figure out who the Anti-christ, I think it an unfair statement. Perhaps as the days days approach God has given them the hunger to understand what He has written to us.

That really is a senseless judgement. I don't judge you for doing less. Why judge those who choose to do even more? We are all striving for the same goal, just with varying degrees of preparedness. The original question was about the antiChrist, so it makes sense to address that issue. :)

Thank you. I believe every word in the Bible is given to us for a purpose, and we should not be so foolish as to push it aside and label it as unworthy of study. That's a bit sacreligious. Especially when it comes to the Revelations. Did you know that the scriptures say you will be blessed just from reading the chapter of Revelations? Quite an interesting promise from God for something that is unworthy of study...
