My family has a dog, three cats and a bunny....yes, we love pets!!! With that in mind I wanted to share a couple of things with other pet/animal lovers.

When we first got our first pet, a cat, we had her declawed and "fixed" as soon as we could....and she was a sorry kitty for a while afterwards, we said we would never do that to another cat ever!!! So when we got our second cat, we didn't declaw her and we didn't get her "fixed" Years went by, we were just careful she never got outside, etc. so there wasn't any worries about her becoming pregnant. Then we got our dog. We started noticing this second cat getting fat.....we began to wonder?? DID she get out?? COULD she be pregnant??....or could it be from her getting the wrong type of nutrition from getting into the dog food??...but..something about her fatness wasn't ..quite right. It was more a roundness and hard, I guess you'd call it. She had always been a small, thin cat..so we weren't sure.....so of course we took her to the vet. Now mind you, this cat was perfectly healthy acting when we took her in...she was not lathargic, there was no differences in her behavior of any kind (ie; messes on the floor, vomiting...etc) just her belly getting round and hard and fat. The vet told us she had what is called "pyometra", it is an infection of the uterus that a female (obviously--hahaha) cat can get simply by not getting "fixed" and not ever being allowed to mate either. I just wanted to pass this info on to anyone who has a female cat they don't want to have have kittens, as it is not enough just to keep them away from a male cat. We were told her stomach could have exploded!!! Pleeeeease, don't anyone ignore spaying your pets as needed. (meaning if you don't want kittens...) We learned at the expense of our poor cat.....we are still making it up to her!! hahaa She is always the first one fed at dinnertime!!!

This next is something that was sent to me as a forward ....so really I have nothing more than the forward to go on..but if this is true....well.....please read.....

We have a baby painted turtle. He came to us this month last year. He was the size of a quarter and is not much bigger than that now. I was not sure he would last but he is one spunky little thing, so cute!

My most loyal friend in the whole world is Pepper. She's a...um...black dog...that I got 13 years ago when I was in the 4th grade. She kind of looks like a Golden retriever...only black! She was the last of 3 puppies and the runt of the litter and I HAD to have her. I lived in the country so there was never anyone to play with my own age, and I didn't really have a whole lot of friends anyhow, so she became my best buddy. We would wrestle (yeah, bit of a hick as a child haha), play soccer, play fetch, explore the woods, and do everything together during the summer and after school. Sometimes we'd just sit on the porch and do nothing, but she was always there. After high school, my parents got divorced and both have moved around a lot and I've gone back and forth. My dog had to go live with my uncle because of this. I haven't had my best friend in about 4 years, and now she's getting really old and tired. She is currently under quarentine at my dad's house because my uncle's dogs drug up a rabies-infected raccoon and though she wasn't exposed to it, the county wants her pinned up for 6 months. She's been free her whole life and she hates it. I am at college so I can't see her anyhow, but I miss her so much. She's my baby. That dog got me through a lot of difficult times and I know she won't be around much longer. Boy, I am really going to miss her.
