How best to give thanks to people? Lets eat as much food as we can and make ourselves less unhealthy. Plus Turkey is disgusting. I'm all for Mash and gravy. And maybe well cooked pork
Grandma enjoyed a feast, including turkey and ham, every year for 99 years. Nothing unhealthy about a good Thanksgiving feast. Especially if you finish the day in the deer stand, while Mama and the other women plan their Black Friday shopping.

Oh I do celebrate the birth of Christ and all its grandeur. However it's the hype around it that died down. It used to be so colorful 'tis the season and it made me feel happy for a month. However I will never forget the true meaning of Christmas no matter how less people seem to care now.
Why don't you celebrate Christmas? It's Jesus' birthday we celebrate. The commercialism has gotten out of hand, but you don't have to spend a lot of money to celebrate the true meaning. Celebrate low key and focus on the real reason for the season.

Jesus was born between spring and summer. Christmas in winter is pagan. Christmas trees, the date, etc is pagan
.
Hmm Demi, I thought that based on John the Baptist's father's service in the temple in the order of Abijah, the conception of John the Baptist right after, and the conception of Jesus 6 months later, it would put His birth around the fall (Septemberish), possibly "around" the feast of trumpets or atonement. Anyways we do know that His birth wasn't in December because shepherds do not abide by their flocks by night in bitter cold and oftentimes snowing Jerusalem, or their flocks would die :p.

Today's Christmas has indeed been commercialized, but the origins are still not biblical in many ways. It was first celebrated as Christ-Mass by a group that calls themselves Christian.... but we know that the "mass" as they do it is completely heretical. It was an attempt to "cover up" something God hates and give it a Christian name and incorporate elements into the celebrating... which God says never to do.

You are being beyond silly. Christmas trees, or even trees in general, are NOT pagan. GOD created trees, in case you've forgotten that fact. :) And God doesn't create anything pagan.

Trees were used to worship Baal in the Babylonian times all the way through the germanic and druids.. Must I give you sermons and links?
especially evergreens. God created many things that were used for evil and evi uses

The point I am making, is trees themselves are NOT pagan. It's how mankind uses them, or whatever else, that makes them pagan.

But people aren't worshipping the tree. They're not praying "oh tree save me from hell." Even Jesus was surrounded by gold when he was being worshipped when he was born. :) And gold, myrrh, and frankincense aren't naturally found in a barn.. :)

If Christmas is a sin to you than do not celebrate it, same with any secular holiday. However, when you presume to know something and try and force that false knowledge down everyone's throat you have stopped being a Christian and started being a megalomaniac. Don't do that. I can not drink as I will die but if you would like a beer or glass of wine who am I to tell you not to do it. I wont bring a tree to your house if you do not celebrate Christmas. Do not presume to tell me when, where or in what manner I am allowed to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Snook I am not trying to force anything down anyones throat. sigh. You know me well enough that I am not like that. I just state what I believe and what the bible says. I do feel like I gotta show bible verses because I dont wanna stand before Jesus one say asking me why I didnt, when I could have.
Its on each individual to do make their decision. Dont make me worse than I am now. Ive stated dozens of times ''but if you feel okay and righ with it, do it'' :p

I agree.. It's obnoxious and annoying. And a few here just can't help themselves from flaunting that their perfect selves don't celebrate certain holidays.. :/

But you SOUND like you are, Demi. You and laura both. You've given your stance on the subject, now let everyone else here make up their own minds. Don't make me start calling you a holiday hypocrit.. lol

I am sorry, I should have been more clear, I meant the anti-holiday crowd in general not you personally. You are awesome and make this a better place. Also you can sing!!! I would never want to hurt your feelings my sister in Christ.
