Lol! So good to see you, Ellie. How have you been doing?

(Clears throat) Of you've got questions, I've got answers!

Made up answers, but hey... They're answers, right? ;)

so, so pretty. :)

i have peasant hands. :(

it doesn't really bother me, but i am glad the kids all inherited the long, slender finger genes from their dad's side.

so, i lied! it must bother me on some level?
Most people just think I am some kind of a freak LOL.

Even my daughter. She has thin easily shredded nails that never grow much beyond her nail bed and cannot understand how mine grow or how I can even stand them long and others wonder how I function with them like that, but the nails let me know when they are becoming a nuisance and I eventually cut them down a bit or they break of their own accord, sometimes quickly and sometimes slowly, so it is an ongoing process of renewal and growth haha :D

As a guitar player I had to keep my left hand nails short :)

as a diaper changer, i keep 'em all short ;)

they are strong and will grow, but a few of the nails curve...

but on my stubby, fat, sausage fingers, long nails would only attract attention to a feature i'd rather not.

i do, however, have rather nice legs! LOL

Oy, I used to play this piece. Never in the snow, and not this well, nor are my hands that hairy haha.

think i'll take a long, hot bubble bath, put on nice clean jammies (flannel, natch-- it's cold!)

and settle into bed with a good book.

What are you reading?

I read Richard Wagamese's Indian Horse recently. It was lovely. I had not read a book for quite some time before that, after reading about four books a week for almost a year after getting an e reader :p My e reader is here somewhere

the kids gave me a Kindle for Christmas last year. it's quite a bit lighter to carry than the stack of books i used to drag about. ;)

i started Andrew Murray's "Abide in Christ" last night. but my reading tends to be a bit eclectic, like my music listening habits.

so i'm wondering if my mom left any Georgette Heyer trashy novels here last year? :p

(they're silly romance novels, but clean! and when i was in junior high i learned so much vocabulary from them. three hours of escape.... hey... perfect for the tub!!)

These are my nails. Aren't they pretty?

Except they're not really my nails. A young friend of my children's decided to pretty me up a few months ago with fake nails. Trouble is, they didn't last on me for very long. I'm always cleaning, cooking, kneading bread, fixing things around the house, exploring and digging for stones and fossils, climbing around rocks near the river, etc. so I have to I keep my nails trimmed short. Otherwise I keep breaking them.

I just took a bunch of storm windows out today and washed & shined them up. If I had long nails, they would be broken by now. Hahahaha!!!

you wrote to comfort me?

yes, i see the grandsons at least 4 times a week, and unless it's a downpour, we are outdoors raking leaves (for pile jumping!), collecting rocks, digging holes (for what purpose is never quite clear to me lol), and in general getting scrubby. :)

and the dishes!

i can't see the picture, i'm sorry to say. :(
along with not being able to post them from my pc, there are many images i can no longer even see.

but the space bar works, and i understand some members have had trouble with spacing.
so there's that. :)

The books I am most likely to recommend if I can remember them are
Cutting For Stone
Poisonwood Bible
The Red Tent
Weight of Water
State of Wonder
The Light Between Oceans

There are probably others but those are some I read in the last few years :)

I never liked trashy novels. I am a literature snob :D

I am going to brag a little now, okay?

One time, when my daughter was downloading people's e book libraries that they had online through file sharing programs, she read out about a hundred of the titles of classics to have me guess who wrote them and I got about 98% of them correct. When she asked me how I knew so many, I told her it was because I had read them all. Well, most of them. Some authors I just could not crack. James Joyce, Ulysses. Huh? Not for me. I have read a lot, but not so much the last decade. I found other pursuits, I guess. But I love a good book :D
