From personal observation the general rule is that the More conservative and politically right the person is the more positive their opinions of America will be.. The more liberal and politically left the person is the more negative their opinions of America will be..
I agree and I get mad when I hear or read very negative thoughts from fellow Americans. Of course we aren't always going to agree with everything that our government does but we have it good here.
As an American I can see that the country is divided. Very tired of all the fighting on both sides and the us against them mentality. We are all Americans in the country and this country is full of immigrants someone like myself is a full fledged mutt because I don't even know what my mix is would love to get one of those Ancestry DNA tests done.
Back to the post though... There are Christians and different beliefs in all the parties, Dem, Rep, Ind, Green, etc.... one party isn't closer to God than the other party. I would venture a guess that we don't agree with everything that our party affiliation does as I know I don't agree with all the Dem policies which is why I vote for a person and not party line....
One party affiliation doesn't make you more American than the other and I would venture a guess that all different parties love America. We need the differences to help keep us in check and balance because if we went too far one way or the other we would be in a bigger pickle than we are now although sometimes it's hard for me to really believe that.
Truth be told at this point it doesn't matter which party is in the White House as it's all downhill from here and things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better as Satan and sin still reign supreme on this planet. We need to learn to love each other, respect each other even if we have different party affiliations and if we are Christians and represent Jesus then we need to start doing a better job than we have been doing...
If this last election was the best America had to offer then we are in BIG TROUBLE... There were some GOOD GUYS that tried in the primaries to get the nomination, but must be true at least this go round good guys finish last... So sad... But we got what we got now and we have to live with it and pray for the best. That's my 2 cents worth not that it matters much...rant over.

What is always nice to see is how patriotic the Americans are. The flags are everywhere and there is a love for their country.
I know with the election of DT there are a split in the country but I can guarantee you if there is a war somewhere America will stick together like a band of brothers. If we could learn that in South Africa things would change but the unfortunate truth is we are racially to divided.
I must admit when I grew up my dad in particular always had some bad things to say about America, so I was always negative about Americans in general. The people I have come to know and love here on CC changed my mind and concept about Americans in general and I told my wife for the last 2-3 years that if we had to emigrate I will go to America.

I still don't understand how you can claim to be the best Baseball, Basketball and American Football team in the world if you only compete in America
I can't wait until you have a decent international rugby team to compete against the world.

Africa mentality dictates that we want it all because we were previously disadvantaged but we do not want to get of our lazy behinds to earn it. In SA they want to take away your property (especially the farms) if you are white. People don't understand that me and my wife, by the grace of God, had worked hard to earn enough income to afford our house and we pay it every month. Nothing was for free. If the freebees stopped the rest of the world will wake up.

Now, as to the OP.
Yeah, of late, we have had a lot of folks in D.C. and around the Country telling everyone how bad America is, and how we need to be GREAT again. Funny thing is, they never seem to identify that Country that is so much greater than America.
And, if they really believe that there is another Country greater than America, why are they STILL HERE?
Now, there are other Countries I love, and loved to visit/live in, but when it comes down to it...........GOD BLESS AMERICA!

It is mind boggling. I voted Libertarian so I knew my candidate wouldn't win but I thought HC would win because that is what they put in our minds forever. I'm glad she didn't. I have no problem with a woman being President however that's not the woman I'd want leading our country. It's time for America to get over their lovey feelings about the Clintons and move on.
Sadly the days of Band of Brothers is long gone. You want to see just how divided the US is now, wait until January 20th when DT takes office. We claim the baseball 'world' series because we allow one team from Canada. Big whoop. But you are right, it is arrogant to claim world sports championships when the games never left our shores

civil war is inevitable, so many factions that truly hate one another and have been preparing
for war with each other for decades, they are armed and are ready, just waiting for their leaders
to give them the signal to begin what will end up in total chaos...the writing is on the wall,

What did surprise me when i first came on CC, is the level of division and critism
among the denominations of American Christians. You just don't find that in the UK.
if a church is going in the wrong direction in the UK, people just leave. The majority of
evangelical churches in the UK all believe and preach the same main biblically based
principles. They may differ on minor doctrinal issues or emphasise different minor
things, but you can quite happily go to a Pentecostal one Sunday, then a baptist the next,
then a Methodist the next etc without feelings something is going wrong.
Many different denominations work together in the UK. For example in the city I live,
there is something called church watch, it keeps track of all the different events going
on in all the churches so you can attend any of them.
There is also prayer for the city/nation events where different churches come together to
pray together. Plus loads of interdenominational organisations working together to
spread the gospel. Pastors visit each other's churches and are invited to speak as
guest speakers.
But there again church attendance is lower in the UK, so we don't generally spend lots
of time putting each other down. If the army is small you don't try to kill off your own
soldiers.
