According to a new report released by the National Center for Family and Marriage Research, more and more American couples are choosing to stay together through sickness and health instead of choosing divorce.

The national divorce average has fallen
to 16.9 divorces per 1,000 – the lowest it’s been since the 70s. Apart from divorces peaking at 22.8 in 1980, and 20 in 2008, the percentages have been on a fairly consistant decline ever since.

I suppose I would wonder if the number of people getting married is also declining? But, now, that may just be me...

People are turning to God. A man or a woman with Jesus in their hearts wont file for a divorce that easily.

16.9 divorces per 1000 marriages? That can't be correct.

Just about as reliable a number as the unemployment rate. Real rate is probably over 50% and almost as high among so called Christians.

I actually have a sneaking suspicion that it's higher in the church.

Yep. The church gets bent over homos, but don't have much to say about this. Churches and preachers will take divorced people and marry them off to someone else without much thought. So whats the biggest threat to the sanctity of marriage?

If divorce rates keep falling...

how are successful young men going to dispose of all their accumulated assets?

: )

Yeah, some of them are real hypocrites.
Everyone is a hypocrite in some way. I've seen the ugly underbelly of "church". It ain't a pretty sight and it is way more than people messing around with each other's wives and husbands. It's all about pride.

They've forgotten about that. Remarrying is like a misdemeanor as of today. But it is a sin. But yet I can understand people remarrying.

This is one of the problems with church. That people say this or that is a sin when it may or may not be. Church people like make God into their own personal little black and white crutch.
