Plainguy, I did not say they were following God's instructions. God brought the Jewish people back to the land He gave Abraham. It is call Zionism! Throughout history the Jewish people have turned away from God yet he continually protects them and takes them back.. (i.e read exodus and the number of times his people doubted him and he still was there).
What I have done is reprint the post I gave Tofimus. It appears your and His questions are pretty close to the same thing.

2 Chronicles 7:14..“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
This is an illustration of God's love for his people even though he knew they would turn against him. Chronicles two books during the time of Saul and King David.
Through the seven years of tribulations, 2/3 of the Jewish people (unbelievers) will Die. (Exceptions being those that have died "in Christ" martyred or those that were "caught-up" in the clouds with Jesus prior to the Tribulations. Those that are left will Call out his name and he will save them.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 (KJV)
"31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."
This tells us that in the coming days (end-days) and Probably the 1000 years reign of Jesus Christ, God will forever forgive His chosen people.
In Isaiah 65:20,,, those who do not accept Jesus Christ at the end of 100 years will DIE. So it appears God spares His people from any sin, any unbelief and they do not die during this period of 1000 years. ONLY THE GENTILES will DIE and only those who choose not to believe in Jesus Christ.
