How does that term strike you? (Or any of the many other similar statements of qualification?)

Truthfully, it pretty quickly turns me off to the rest of what the person is saying or writing.

"True" in man's eyes is not necessarily true in God's eyes and who are we to judge?

Do we practice humility? Are each of us sure we are without any sin of our own? Can we state which of us will spend eternity with The Lord and which won't? Hmmmm

What's it matter, if all this does is give room to judge someone over the use of an adjective? How does it make the judger any different than the judged?

when I hear that...or read it...I just assume they are going to have some good trials to help them quit talking that way

personal experience speaking here

Depends...if a person is saying he or she is a true Christian, implying that there is a large number of other Christians that ain't true, I'd dismiss that opinion rather quickly. If, however, they were talking about Peter or Paul, I'd look into it:p.

Turns me off too. It reeks of pharisaic self righteousness.

The term doesn't really strike me as much.. when i think "true christian" i think of a person who is dead serious about the faith, and they live according to Jesus's commandments every single day, nonstop and not just on weekends when it's church time, or when convenient...To me, words are just words until they are put into action.. everyone will talk, but not everyone will walk out what they say.

How the term strikes me is that I better make it a point that I am a (true) Christian before I speak about others in this term.

However I think that a true Christian is recognized pretty easily it's hard for people not to be inspired by a heart that shines God's.

I don't like the term. To me it comes across as condescending, may not be the intention but it sounds that way to me.

A true Christian makes mistakes
A true Christian gets upset
A true Christian is capable of saying hurtful things
A true Christian can get very opinionated
A true Christian does point out other's mistakes etc etc

A false Christian thinks the above means someone is not a true Christian,
but then wouldn't that mean they might just be a true Christian as well. :)

Oops now I've gone and stirred it up. Lol

all of what you posted is amazingly true and funny as well lol. But the issue is a false Christian would see all this in others but not themselves usually a holier than thou kind of person as if faith is a contest as to who is more holier and if we sin we are not true Christians- oops looks like I helped stir the pot things gonna get hot in here ;b

You just took the words right out of my mouth, I was gonna say that to Blain.

Doesn't that make us great false but true Christians? (Great minds think alike).

That reminds me of a song by Mel McDaniel where he is singing "you sneaky thing, you", but I can't remember the name of that song.

So you're in for a fight huh? Waiting to see certain people weigh in on this one. lol

I'd give my opinion but I'd be side swiped in minutes.

Sadly, there is a percentage of people who say they are Christians whom God may take umbrage to their self identification. What is a true Christian? One of the best short definitions I ever heard was if Christianity were a crime, is there enough evidence to convict you?
Who among us is sanctified?
Or Consecrated?
Whom among us has melded their personality with Christ?

I've run into Christians who don't believe me when I tell them certain celebrities are Christians. They say "No way is _____ a Christian"! They are confusing behavior with belief. A Christian is simply anyone who believes in Christ. Their past or present life style may be pretty wild, but they have believed in Christ.

Is there anyone out there who actually claims to be a false Christian?

Not being sarcastic or anything, just a passing thought.

yes should mean yes, no should mean no, and Christian should mean Christian.
