The bdf has always been a place having a well known reputation for being a war zone however In the past year or two it has escalated beyond belief we have brother condemning brother and sister mocking sister we have attacks left and right and we all are guilty in some manner including me. How can we claim to stand for the truth when the truth is not shown in us by are constant squabbling? Yes there will always be times when we get into heated debates and names are called and scripture is thrown as a weapon such is human nature and discussion of scripture but in all honesty this is getting way to out of hand.

Even oncefallen saw and described the depth of the issue and many of us complain about the issue but what do we do about? It begins and ends with us and all it takes is for all of us to at least try to be more civil to respond more in humbleness and love and when you are attacked or called a name try to turn the other cheek, we claim to be Christians and to be love to stand for the truth and to show the heart of who God is maybe it's time we prove this.

Most of us are full grown adults and so we need to wise up and stop acting like children

So we are acting as children but it will always be something that happens and BC it's out of hand we need to wise up? Please explain how this is possible seeing you say it will always be?

Agreed!

One thing that might help a tiiiiny bit though, would be if the site had some sort of "this is what we stand for", in addition to the rules.

i.e. the recent claim that a member had talked to the mods that a certain types of subjects should not be allowed, yet we have not seen the mods stop such threads nor post in them saying they are not allowed. A sort of public "these are the things we all (well, almost all) agree on" might help because then the new members know what to expect?

Holly this thread is not about your dispute with me. In all the heated debates and the attacks yes we all have acted as children the bdf is so often warned by new users to stay away from and for good reason it is not a place for the faint of heart and shows little of who God is.

We in our disputes often times forget who we are called to be and we have damaged many people in our disputes with each other and I am not one to simply sit by and do nothing this thread will likely go into the pages of the bdf as more popular threads come and take it's place but even if this is all I can do I want to help make the bdf a place to be able to discuss the things of God again.

The reason for this is because the bdf is a very popular forum and we simply don't have near enough mod's to moderate it they are all volunteers but there are not very many of them. We would need at least three mods in the bdf alone that are considered mature enough to mod and not abuse their power and are also on cc all the time

And for those of you who have not seen Oncefallen's comment about the horrid state of this forum, here it is. Post #123.

I agree with Blain, it is on the people in this forum to conduct themselves properly. If you disagree with a person or topic, you're always free to not respond or click on the thread. I think we all need to wise up and take responsibility. And instead of making threads whining about the deplorable condition of the BDF, start changing your behaviors and maybe, just maybe, this forum will start to get better.

It's possible, because if more people would take responsibility for their behavior in here, then the fighting and name-calling, etc, would at least get somewhat better.. But it will only get worse if people remain stupid and do nothing to change the state of this forum..

Oh and also, open your eyes, people. You all moan about the hyper-grace threads that get started, despite CS1's thread specifically stating, and Oncefallen enforcing, that if hyper-grace gets debated, those people will go bye bye bye.. I'd visit that thread if you haven't already. Then you would know about at least one topic that is (semi) off-limits.

For those who claim not to know where it is:

We can say it will always be so but this is far from the truth, I have been on other Christian forums and still go to some of them and they have a section just like this one with just as many people yet it is not anywhere near this bad.
Even so it's not that this place will always be like this it's that we don't choose to do anything about it, if at least 40% of the bdf decided to show more love patience and humbleness and would respond in a more Christ like manner that would make an intense difference.

As I said before it begins and ends with us

I know it's possible. I was challenging his mindset that stated it would always be so.. maybe spark a thought in him to question it.. but like a lot, they carry other discussions to every other one.. I don't .. what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas

I haven't been in any of the multiple grace threads. But they are popping up,several at a time. It just goes in circles so I just stay clear.I dont see the point.

Amen...and we can just leave our own thoughts on whatever the subject is too. It makes it hard to have an honest discussion of anything when the environment is not safe and the insults and name-calling is being done. Nothing gets discussed in a respectful way.

Oh no it doesn't.. lol.. And what happens in here, also happens in a few other forums. So obviously the contention and strife is spreading like wildfire..

Amen..the purpose of it was to stop the bad behavior - like the insults, name-calling like you are heretics....false teacher....calling people "hyper-grace"....etc.

Bad behavior was from both sides of the points of view.

Talk about the grace of God but leave the derogatory name and implications of the term "hyper" out of it as it is that term that stirs up trouble.

That to me is sound wisdom.

1 Peter 3:8 - All of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.

I think you missed my point:

If I, as a new member, enter the forums and see

- These are the rules: blabla

- This is our statement of faith: "Jesus died for our sins but we do not believe in _____ (ie "hyper grace" , aliens whatever else we end up discussing over and over )

... then I know that discussing _____ in this forum is pointless... , and maaaybe, just maaaybe ONE new member will refrain from starting a debate on it :p
