Yes... copied from page 1 of this discussion...

What are most disturbing are however arguments that the low crime is partially a result of a police culture that are obsessed with keeping crime statistics low. Former detectives claim that police is unwilling to investigate homicides unless there is a clear suspects and frequently labels unnatural deaths as suicides without performing autopsies. Coincidentally, Japan has one of the highest suicide rates in the world.

Er, there is a huge sub-culture in Japan,

Japan asks U.S. to finally stop military-related rapes, deaths - CBS News

I guess as the crimes of the US military are brushed under the carpet, the crime rate stays static.
Did you even READ that article?

Three US servicemen were convicted of raping a girl back in 1995. This latest crime was committed by Kenneth Shinzato who was a CONTRACTOR for the US military... apparently a former Marine.

No other crimes were mentioned between the 1995 incident and this one, leading me to think that these are the only two "major" incidents.

Since the ambassadors, state department, and military were all publicly denouncing the murder, and the person that did it (who was arrested) .... how, exactly, is that "sweeping it under the rug" ?

I bet the parents of the 77 Andres Brevik slaughtered wished their teens had a gun to defend themselves.

Also, the U.S. has over 30 million illegal immigrants. Let's see how an almost completely homogeneous ISLAND could deal with that.

You know the saying. If you torture the stats long enough they will confess to anything.

so you are saying that 77 teens firing their guns in fear would be safer? Nice argument mate
I bet Jesus would tell you to shoot people if He was around today

Most people responding to imminent murder are going to have fear. Would they have been any less dead if they fired in self defense and missed?

Or do ya think that number would have been significantly less?

Also, if Brevik slaughtered them BECAUSE they were Christian your comment might have validity.
Now, some that might not have accepted Jesus, will never again have the opportunity.

You are still ignoring the fact that the nation with the most LIBERAL gun laws have the HIGHEST number of murders
So it does not protect people. It kills them.

Am I? Huh. I guess that would be news to the Swiss. Since it is compulsory to own a gun there. Tell me, what are their gun crime rates?

So many people die annually from gunfire in the US that the death toll between 1968 and 2011 eclipses all wars ever fought by the country. According to research by Politifact, there were about 1.4 million firearm deaths in that period, compared with 1.2 million US deaths in every conflict from the War of Independence to Iraq.

2015 ALONE 1573 people were stabbed to death in America. WE MUST OUTLAW ALL KNIVES! (Some in Britain actually advocated this lunacy. Maybe if these MOSTLY women had guns they would be alive today.

Muslims driving trucks killed many scores in France, Germany, and Israel in the past year. WE MUST OUTLAW ALL TRUCKS! Maybe if someone in the crowd had a gun lives would have been saved.

Over 3000 Americans were killed by Muslims with box cutters in a single hour. OUTLAW ALL BOX CUTTERS! Of course this means warehouse people can't open boxes, but hey, we have to safe. Maybe if someone on that plane had a gun our world would be different today.

168 people were killed by a bomb made from farm fertilizer in Oklahoma. OUTLAW ALL FERTILIZER! After all, it gets washed into our oceans and contributes to global warming.

More than 500 hacked to death with machetes in Nigeria. OUTLAW ALL MACHETES! Use something else to cut through jungles. Agent orange?

912 dead using cyanide laced grape juice in Guyana....

The list of NON - Gun deaths goes on and on..

What do they have in common? Evil people desiring, and succeeding to kill mass innocents.

I have yet to hear a logical response to how taking guns away from law abiding folks means CRIMINALS and terrorists will give up their guns.

This is the equivalent of the United States destroying ALL it's nuclear weapons because Russia, China, Pakistan North Korea, and others would give up theirs. I'm sorry, but it's 1st level thinking and sophomoric.

Knives you say? In most of the world, you are NOT allowed to carry a knife in public
in the US, you all want EVERYONE to ALWAYS carry a firearm
.... that includes terrorists you know

If you actually look at the crime stats correctly, what needs to be outlawed is black people. The bulk of homicides is blacks killing blacks. We have several generations, who have been raised to not value human life, including their own. Until someone in charge gets the guts to say something and do something, the killing will continue.
