What is your thought as a Christian on the use of aclochol?

Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Make no provisions for the flesh.

Psalm 104 v. 14- 15- he causeth the grass to grow for the cattle and the herb for the service of men that he may bring forth food out of the earth.
and WINE THAT MAKETH GLAD the heart of men and oil to make his face shine and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

Maketh glad the heart of men? The heart is wicked above all things, who can know it?

The bible is clear.....

1) It is not those things that enter into a man that defiles a man
2) Moderation
3) Not to drunkenness
4) Don't offend or cause a weaker brother to stumble
5) Jesus made wine not grape juice
6) They called Jesus a wine bibber....not because he drank Grape juice
7) Paul told Timothy (as a pastor) to drink wine for medicinal purposes
8) Wine makes the heart merry
9) Give strong drink to those who are perishing

End of Story...anything beyond the above are the opinions of men that make void the word of God!

Just saying........

i didn't like what you are saying about yourself, just wanted to get your attention. Don't be so down on yourself, alcoholic iis an allergy, a sickness, kinda like diabetes, and other diseases. Its better for an alcoholic not to drink, just like its better for a diabetic not to eat sugar. You are not weak because you can't drink, and its not your fault, its hereditary. Just wanted to share.
I wasn't saying I was weak because I shouldn't drink. I said I was weak because I can't control myself around alcohol. I think most other people understood that already through reading comprehension.

21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22Abstain from all appearance of evil.

It's my opinion that there's two types of religious people:

  1. One that stays away from all kinds of wickedness to live a pure & holy life.
  2. One that dares to ride the border line of sin to satisfy themselves.

The second one doesn't know they crossed that line long ago.

there is 2 more kinds- one that actually uses the Bible, and does not add rules ( complete abstaintance from drinking, not in the Bible.)

one ( like many denominations ) that add rules.
which camp do YOU fall in??

I disagree with drinking. My uncle was a life long alcoholic. Its of no benefit to anyone.I see no reason to drink alcohol when other drinks are available. I dont even drink caffeine. Just me.

For those Christians who do drink in moderation, thats one thing. But if you are getting buzzed that is an issue you need to deal with. We do and say things that are bad for our Christian testimony when we are not in control. We should never be in that situation. More bad decisions have been made when people are in an alcohol stupor. The Bible warns not to do this. Our bodies are a temple and we should treat it as such. Nothing should be clouding our judgement to where we might sin.

I get what people are saying, but this moderation thing is a lie from Satan. Most drunkards start out drinking in moderation. Consider the facts:

•83% of all fire fatalities are alcohol related

•68% of all drowning is alcohol related

•80% of all suicides are alcohol related

•40% of all industrial accidents are alcohol related

•86% of all murders are alcohol related

•65% of all child abuse cases are alcohol related

The #1 cause of mental retardation is alcohol use during pregnancy

Twenty five thousand Americans die every year in alcohol related accidents. That's 70 every day!

17,000,000 Americans are said to be alcoholics.

Americans spend $50,000,000,000.00 a year on alcohol consumption.

Alcohol is the leading cause of death of young people aged 15-24 years old.

This should be of great concern for the Church in America. Abandon your preference to drink alcohol and do not cause your brother to stumble. Boy, if we could all just drink in moderation. But obviously, that's not the case. Be wise.

All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient.

You missed the mark on the bolded and ALL the stats in the world will never negate the boundaries given in the word of GOD.....

Jesus drank wine and the context of what he said about JOHN and Himself proves this...end of story....!

Naw im out on that one thats just so wrong.. Ill stay with Dr. Pepper instead. Here the Jeagerbomb isnt popular but its popular in britain. I guess we germans here are a bit more simple XD

Speaking of German drinks.....I have actually come to like Jägerbomb, which is a shot of Jägermeister into some Red Bull, it tastes like Bubble Gum.

My grandfather died because of alcohol, I have bunches of alcoholics in the family and a good friend of mom and I died of alcohol and pain meds..
So yea I agree with you on a lot of points there. But its known that drinking 1 glas of beer (glas not jug lol) cleanses the liver.
and red wine is good for the heart but the same with grape juice :p
I agree that moderation is ok, depending on the definition of moderation which thats I think where people struggle. I know people who drink one glas of red wine to their dinner sometimes. They do it all their life and never became alcoholic. So with that, control and caution is the key :)

Over-eating is the number one cause of early deaths in North America. Should we now stop eating because of this? Whenever people try to force "their rules" on other people they have just created a religion of their own choosing.

This is the complete opposite of living from the the life of Christ that is in us. Everyone is free to follow their own heart in this matter and no one should be condemning others for their own personal decision on whether to have a drink or not.

Gluttony is destructive - so everyone stop eating so that you can "be holy" - like me!...

Wow! Jesus drank wine so we can too. Even if it's lawful for believers to drink wine, it's certainly not expedient. The facts don't lie. Nothing good can come from alcohol consumption.
