The ESV translates it as "sensuality". Which seems to speak more specifically to where that lack of restraint and excess is occurring.

They live for self. And have no restraint..I believe even their profession of Christ is for self. not in reality. They want their cake (Heaven) and eat it too (their sin)

The bible tells us exactly how to get close to God you just have to read, yes reading can be a real drag sometimes but it's like learning to ride a bike without training wheels. You won't have to read nearly as much or practice learning because you will know where it's at in the bible... for the rest of us we have tools like biblegateway.com to aid us in our search. I don't have the whole book memorized but it's written somewhere on my heart because I can remember things that I never remember even reading.

I am not going to post in both threads because I am tired and my eyes hurt.

I was thinking of some things I wanted to share with y'all while driving home, but have forgotten most of it.

I think it was some basic assumptions I make for people in these threads.

1. All posters are born again Christians filled with the HOLY Spirit. (i know many trolls and others will come and post,but I plan on ignoring those who prove to be here just to make trouble. I suggest if you do NOT think someone a TRUE holy spirit filled Christian, You put them on ignore instead of getting into a fight with them. That does not mean you can't state the Truth as you see it. Just don't try and tell them what they belief.)

2. You have drank your milk. Whether you like my bottles or not you understand through the teaching of the Holy Spirit what repentence, faith towards God, baptism, laying of hands, Ressurrection of the dead and final judgement are.

I see what you are saying. I'm not trying to overload anybody's plate with meat. I just feed it in little bite size portions the the kind face handing out samples on a grocery store end cap. The main purpose is people see how well fed some people are and they want it and search for themselves. I can't teach anybody everything I know. It has taken me 17 years to know what I know now. It would choke a person to share everything I have learned through my seasons. We all have our own cross to bear and our own race to run. I will not lose sight of that but if people want to learn, let them eat until they are full as well.

Licentiousness means "without restraint, excess" and it refers to anything that is controlling people to do in excess - sometimes used in connection with sexual sins but can be used for things like over-eating...etc.

We need to read the verse before this one here to see exactly want solid food is - it's the word of righteousness.
The author is saying that those that partake of the milk is not accustomed to the "word of righteousness". Solid food is knowing the word of righteousness. Hebrews 5:13-14

Those trying to create and maintain their own righteousness by what they do or don't do - are still spiritual babies. They are not established in the "gift of righteousness" yet - which only comes by grace through faith in what Christ has already done. That He alone is our righteousness.

The Jews were notorious for trying to establish their own righteousness by the Law of Moses. Romans 10:1-5 - Remember this is the book written to Hebrews.

Heb. 5:14 - But solid food ( word of righteousness ) is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil ( Greek word for evil = bad, useless, worthless ).

The mature person in Christ knows when they are practicing the deeds "of His righteousness" which is the good - or doing deeds of righteousness "to be righteous" which are bad, evil, useless or worthless. This is the evil or useless side of Heb. 5:14

This is the truth making key to the promises. Our righteousness is found in Christ not in what we do but ONLY and ALWAYS due to what Jesus has already done for us. But instead many good intention ed Christians look at it as the unsaved person would. They see it as (we do good we get good, we do bad we get bad.)

The one who is trained in righteousness is ever learning it is always Christ and no longer them. It takes maturity to walk by faith to believe this and not our good works that "earn" this. We can never earn this. When we try it just shows we are still babies in need of milk not able to take meat yet.

I believe Jesus is the way the truth and the life and that every moment of sin should immediately be given to Him to ask for pardoning because he is our mediator and the final blood sacrifice.
