Is His revelation not complete though? Is there more outside of His word that we need to know? I have a hard enough time with what is written. I guess people that have perfected that which has been written need more...

The revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ is no where near complete in our understanding of it. There is tons more in the word of God that is yet to be revealed and God uses many ways to get this truth across.

Jesus Himself often used creation to speak of the truths of Him and the Father. Did you ever notice how many times Jesus used creation to describe spiritual realities? - I have not looked at it but I would say He used that way more times than actually He quoted scripture.

Remember the purpose of scripture is to bring us to Christ. Scripture itself is not God. We are led by the Holy Spirit within us but that leading will never violate His word either.

I believe that God does send vision and dreams, but not every vision or dream is from God.

Discernment is needed but not often sought.

Generally, dreams and vision are not to be trusted. All so called dreams and vision need to tested and examined by a sure foundation namely the Word of God. I wonder how many of you actually searched the Word of God and put your dream to the test.

I get what you're saying, but people have to be careful about their "dreams". If it's not already in Scripture, then toss the dream aside. Stick with doctrine out of the word of God. Study to shew thyself approved not dream.

I agree...

I hear ya' brother. If we have a dream that says in our "interpretation" - Leave your spouse and marry your neighbors wife instead". That would not line up with scripture. Or God told me in a dram to go shoot the abortion doctor because he is murdering babies. We can do things for a seemingly "righteous purpose" and be dead wrong.

Would it not be better to follow Scripture than your own imagination and then your interpretation of that imagination? Just a thought!

I would think today God heals every person’s minds believers or those who do not have faith through dreams seeing if a person does not dream for long periods some say 72 hours mental problems can start occurring. But as far direct revelations, when scripture came to a close the possibility of receiving any more new revelations from God is no longer possible. When he finished writing His book He gave us a warning not to add to His book of prophecy or diminish from it.

I think it could be dangerous to try and interpret dreams today. It would be like being hypnotized or saying a person had an out of the body experience, therefore opening the way for Satan and his signs and lying wonder . It is a major tool of the occult.

The warning is to not add or subtract form the whole now that we no longer have His word in part. In that way it is impossible to deceive the elect. If any man says thus says the Lord or I saw Jesus here or there we are to believe not.

Having a dream does not mean a person has the Holy Spirit.

that can happen at times, it can be hard to comprehend all that is written in scripture, but if one day you feel a need to seek to know more, IMO i do believe the knowledge is there...

John 21:25
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Another example of getting information outside of scripture is when Agabus by the Spirit told that there would be a famine and from that word they did things to help their brethren.

It doesn't say how Agabus got this by the Spirit - could have been a dream or a vision.

Acts 11:28-29 (NASB)
[SUP]28 [/SUP] One of them named Agabus stood up and began to indicate by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine all over the world. And this took place in the reign of Claudius.

[SUP]29 [/SUP] And in the proportion that any of the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the relief of the brethren living in Judea.

Yea no doubt, I think there is around 39-40 accounts of people having dreams, here's one with just some no name man came along and talked about a dream, had a prophecy..

Judges 7:13-15
When Gideon came, behold, a man was relating a dream to his friend. And he said, "Behold, I had a dream; a loaf of barley bread was tumbling into the camp of Midian, and it came to the tent and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down so that the tent lay flat." His friend replied, "This is nothing less than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given Midian and all the camp into his hand." When Gideon heard the account of the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship. He returned to the camp of Israel and said, "Arise, for the LORD has given the camp of Midian into your hands."

Colossians 2:18, Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

Yep, if He wanted us to know, it would be included in His word.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Yep, He will show us in His word. Study to shew thyself approved unto God a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. If it's not in the word of truth, then it's not from God. How would you ever now to trust such dreams? How does one actually know that their "dream" was of God? Compare it to His word. See Joseph Smith.:)

Then Jesus said, "Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear."

My only question is ..

What makes you think your dreams are from God? And for what purpose? If you don't know what your dreams means until you think the event has actually happened and you looked back..what ws the point of God giving you the dream or vision in the first place..

Dream reading and diary planning is more new age than Christian.

It takes a while to catch on :), I suspect many people dismiss them too
quickly so God stops using that form of communication with them.

They have a difference to them, they are often highly symbolic,
its not just what the dream is about which is important, it is the feel of
it also, how you feel upon waking up. It's hard to explain but regular dreams
dont have the same feel about them.

More importantly, we are told to test all things. Any dream which contradicts the
bible is not of God, it might be Satanic or Natural. Praying about a dream often
provides the answer if you are not certain. If they have a prophetic nature to them
then the test is if they come true - although you may not see the results of that
for some time. That's where a diary comes in handy. There is nothing wrong
with writing them down. Large chunks of the bible would be missing if all the
dreams and visions contained within it weren't written down because someone
thought it was a bit new age.

Most of my dreams are about my own situation and that helps to know if they
are genuine or not.

Satan can also counterfeit dreams, I've had these dreams as well just like Blain.
Fortunately they are few and far between. However counterfeits have flaws,
ive found Satanic dreams often make me feel sick when I wake up, whereas
Godly dreams bring joy, revelation, excitement, or its a light bulb moment etc.
Other times the Godly dreams lead me into curiosity and questions and digging
into the bible for answers.

The Satanic dreams I've had also have sickly lurid colours, awful greens and blacks,
shadows etc. This is not to be confused with darkness though as I've had Godly
dreams about God and darkness. Darkness does not necessarily mean the dream is
Satanic.

Other Godly dreams I've had, have been a series of dreams, where you have a dream
one night, then the second part the next night, the third part a few weeks after with each
part following on from the last one.

Or other examples are where I have had the same dream three times in the same week
or month.

I know many people are sceptical and that's ok, I understand why they are.
I don't pretend to have all the answers and I would never promote myself
as a dreamer or visionary etc. Most of the people in my church don't even know
of the dreams I get as I only mention it to those who seem interested. Only
one out of the four pastors in my church knows and that's only because he has
an interest in such things himself.

I think though that when the opportunity arises, it's good to bring the whole
aspect of dreams and visions out into the open, put the information out
there and let people decide for themselves.

Its just a shame that deceivers and charletans have brought sceptism to
this subject, maybe that is what Satan wants. If he can't stop the truth
getting out he will instead bring it into disrepute. That applies to many
Christian things unfortunately.

But before the bible was written, people didn't have His word. How did they know the
truth. :)

There are passages in the bible which say Jesus did many more miracles which if written
down couldn't be contained. Along with those miracles would also have been prayers,
conversations, teaching etc. I'm not saying don't trust the bible. Just don't close your
mind off to things God wants to show you directly.

The bible didn't tell me a dog was going to try to bite me, but I was warned of it in
a dream for example.

Whenever we replace God Himself with scripture itself and our reliance on the Holy Spirit to reveal the things of God to us - we can go astray. God will never violate what He has written down in scripture either.

The "tension" here is our interpretation of what is written. That can be accurate or not accurate or partly understood. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal the truths to us and I think we need to apply this to dreams in visions.
