I hate that song. Lewis Carroll was not on drugs. They didn't have acid back then, anyway. Anyone who ever read the book knows it is brilliant satire. It is no drug induced trippy book. I hate that people think this. The wordplay in the book is beautiful.

Never said Lewis Carrol was, nor did Grace Slick. But I think she might have a point that the Caterpillar is.
Now that makes me think of that song "you say hello, I say goodbye" I think by Beatles or one of them individually, I forget. Never got big on them but had it drilled in my head for quite a while of my life from the telescreen and Party made sound propaganda devices lol.

It is an unpleasant book- but I guess most cautionary tales are. Nominate something happy and we'll see how the people vote. I think I am on chapter six or seven. I didn't speed up the pace in case people are busy reading other things or with work or something. If we all nominate a pleasant book, then we'll end up with something happy to read.
Well, it's a fast and entertaining read, and I had forgotten how intriguing Winston's reading of THE BOOK was. But, just as I felt when I read it the first time, I am left with this insane urge to go out and vaporize a politician.

You nailed it on your first guess.... tiredness has nothing to do with it. I'm reading it, wide awake at 10 in the morning, and it still makes almost no sense to me... I recognize the words, but not the arrangement of them...
