And that would be any work, not just works of the law..
I've seen people attempt to dissect good works/works of righteousness from the MORAL aspect of the law (Matthew 22:37-40) and simply refer to these works as works of faith or works of obedience, then teach we are saved by "these" works (works of faith/works of obedience) and just not "those" works (works of the law).

You have a catholic religion background before coming to know Christ - is this what you were taught in that religion?

Basically, yes. I was also taught that in the church of Christ that I at one time had temporarily attended as well. Religions that teach salvation by works are forced to believe that way in a desperate effort to get around such verses as Ephesians 2:8,9.

anything to try to excuse your false system, and make it believable..

that should be a red flag, but many do not see it.

And that is the deception.,, So close to the truth on the surface but so far from the heart of the Gospel of grace,

Works base salvation falls under this condemnation:

Matthew 23
13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. [14]

15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.

*****

Salvation is by Faith and NOT BY WORKS. If you haven't figured out what that means yet, you should pray and ask God.

Gal 1:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, [SUP]7 [/SUP]which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. [SUP]8 [/SUP]But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. [SUP]9 [/SUP]As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Now we need to examine scriptures to clearly show what the Gospel of Christ is.

How is it possible to go to heaven if you don't believe in eternal life?

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Some folks have a hard time believing that eternal life is a gift from God through Jesus. Some feel that they must earn it, otherwise it wouldn't be "fair" of God to save some people and not others,

They believe they earn it because they have faith but not reacognizing true faith comes from God, not questioning if they faith is in Jesus or in the fact they believe they have a saving faith?

If we truly seek God He reveals His truth to us.

However if we lie and seek how to manipoulate the world and God to fulfill our lust and pride....then God will see our hearts and give our minds to that deception.

Galatians 3:8
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying,In you all the nations shall be blessed.”

Ephesians 1:13
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 3:6
that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,

Ephesians 6:15
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Colossians 1:5
because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,

2 Timothy 1:10
but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

You too Katy-Follower.
You must be a follower of Ariel instead of a follower of Jesus.
You two make a good team.

Wow. But your side is tough.
I serve a very loving God.
He's taught me not to judge Others, but only to discuss His words with them.

HE is the one who will judge WHO has the truth and WHO IS LOST.

Fortunately, it's not YOU or ARIEL, or DCON, or ETERNALLY GRATEFUL, gb9, ETC.

You should try coming over to my side of the fence. You'd really lik it here!!
There is only one side....the side Jesus is on.....as in HIS SIDE.......He said faith saves eternally.......not temporarily..... ;)

from what I found, it appears according to God, the gospel is...

1. The power of salvation to all who entrust themselves to God
2. will be spread to every nation, and every nation will be blessed by it,
3. Will come through abraham (christ)
4. the word of truth. concerns our salvation
5. the gospel allows us to be partakers of the promises through Christ
6. Is a gospel of peace, Jesus said he will give you rest, we rest in peace..
7. concerns our hope of everything laid in heaven given to us who receive the word of truth
8. through it death is abolished, and life and immortality is given.

The typical bible is 2000 odd pages long. This thread is now on 655 pages, and each page has at least more words than 3 bible pages.

There are more words on this one thread than the entire bible. To our shame.

Yet, for all of that, the parties were not able to come to unity over this one simple topic, despite all of the scripture posted. No Ephesians 4v13 growth. How stale has this thread become. It's descending into man's philosophy Colossians 2v8. No more true edification.

Anyone being blessed?
A. Don't come in here if you think so
B. You have already proven your error to all who read the diatribe you post in your threads (a working for sinless lie)
C. Add something of value
D. There are a multitude of quoted verses and solid truth in here....so....go work your way there and see what number you make in the last day!

Yet those who preach works salvation will claim to be telling us Christ gospel also.

they would have to fit their words into all the gospel says,

does the gospel of works offer the believer that he will never die? Is death abolished in their gospel? As jesus said in John 6. WHoever hears him and believes will never die, live forever, never hunger or thirst, has eternal life, and will be risen.

Do they offer that HOPE in their gospel?

they say they do, but do they?
