Actually the bible states that FAITH ALONE is what saves and justifies before GOD.....and Paul who was inspired also states that to embellish faith and works to finish salvation is a false gospel with no power, double cursed and not the gospel that Paul preached.....
Well Dcon,

We must not be reading the same bible.

You love Paul apparently.

I'm talking to you about what JESUS SAID.

Jesus, you know, the one you say you're a disciple of.
John wrote about Him in his gospel. John was with Jesus.
Paul asked around and spoke to the apostles and to witnesses for 3 years before putting together his thesis, but JOHN was WITH Jesus, and JESUS WAS JESUS. So, I don't want to get into the Pauline controversy, but I'm willing if you are.

Here's my post to Ariel. I'm sure you know these verses.
Could you explain them to us?

Could you list some scripture where JESUS says that ONLY FAITH IS NECESSARY?
In fact, could you post some scripture where JESUS says that ONLY FAITH IN HIM is necessary for SALVATION.

I'd thank you for that. We all use scripture here except for you. YOU should be a good example since you started this thread.

Here's what I wrote to Ariel:

If you don't follow God's commandments, you're not a friend of Jesus...

John 14.15
John 15:14
John 15.1-6
John 14:21
John 10:27-28
John 5:28-29

It's not me saying it Ariel, John was with Jesus for over three years.
I think He knows what is needed to be a disciple of Jesus and to be saved.

I guess it's "pick a partner" and go with it
Allen.....it is not about partners or who we like and or dislike....it is about the eternal gospel and biblical salvation bro....there is not 37 different gospels that lead to Christ as I am sure you are aware of.....I honestly do not believe I have ever seen your stance....what do you believe about biblical salvation bro?

For those that like to feed themselves - here is a video that speaks about the different "atonement" views - penal substitution..etc.

In this message guest speaker Cindy Quarles explains the atonemnent. She explains atonement in the light of the love of God. She explains how God was never angry at us, but at the system that was killing us. This message will challlenge your traditional teaching of the cross.

Here is a remark from one of the listeners.

Mark Boyce11 months ago

Awesome message. The idea of atonement that I heard was exactly what you have described. It just never sat right with me even as a babe in Christ, but it did create a dark cloud over my heart concerning my Abba and kept me from knowing him as he knows me. God knew we were enslaved by a hard taskmaster and it wasn't, ISN'T Him. Thank God for Jesus who has made us free from that which was killing us. Amen!

ROMANS 1:5.
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for Obedience to the Faith
among all nations, for His Name:

5:19.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience
of One shall many be made Righteous.

16:26.
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets,
according to the Commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations
for the Obedience of Faith:

27.
To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
[Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.]

That is not an answer to my question.

I asked then what happens...not what you judge people to be.

I actually agree that Jesus friends follows His commandments because they are Mature and rooted in Christ.

What you seem to have trouble with is how God teaches His children and how babes in Christ are still His Kids.

God chastens and teaches His Kids to obey.., it doesn't happen automatically.
What was the question???

You asked me what happens if we don't obey God's commands.

I think the consequences are staggering.

It's just that I hate to talk about hell, like some on this thread do. (not you).

WE ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW GOD'S COMMANDMENTS.

How WELL we follow them is a different discussion.
What is Jesus for anyway??

We cannot give excuses to people.
One could be a baby in Christ, but he still has to obey Him the best that he could.
And that's for God to know, not us...

I think I did answer your question.
I showed you that WE ARE ABSOLUTELY to follow God's Laws.

No IFs ANDs OR BUTs.

The bolded above Fran is ignorant.....JESUS preached the words of Jesus, was taught by direct revelation and preached the words that the disciples were not ready to bear.....Jesus was also born, lived and died under the LAW which ratified the NEW COVENANT that PAUL speaks to.

What a cop out from you and exactly why it is hard to engage you!

WE ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW GOD'S COMMANDMENTS.
And yet you DON'T. You are a liar and you bear false witness against others and that breaks the commands you now claim we are to follow. So are you a sinner or not?

Peter and Judas were with Jesus for quite awhile, too. They were his friends.. UNTIL one sold him out for money and the other outright denied that he knew Him.. :/
What does that have to do with anything Blue?

Jesus is going to judge you for YOU not for Judas or Peter.
