The thread for all things board gaming!

Here are some questions to prompt discussion, but feel free to go way off the beaten path. I'll even stand for card and dice games.

What are your favorite games?

What are your favorite editions of games (ie NFL Monopoly, Star Wars Risk, etc)?

What games have you never lost?

What games have you never won?

I had a raging Scrabble addiction. 3 to 4 games a day. Mostly on Facebook. At one brief point I made it to the global top 50 on Facebook. It was one of the reasons I gave up Facebook.

YES and the more the merrier!

The last five person game I played was insane. I was playing as the Americans. I had just invaded Italy and NEEDED my buddy playing as Britain to smack the German's with my bomber squadron, but he didn't want to lose the plane.

We lost.

Far and away my favorite game. My son and I play the 1940 Global version. It is 2 separate games in one. The European theatre and the Pacific theatre.

You put both games together and the board is like 6 feet long. It takes us a couple of months to complete. We have amended some rules to give the Axis a chance to win.

That sounds great! And I love to mod board games.

We messed with the point system one time to bring neutral countries and territories into play. It was a disorganized mess of a truly global war.

That was a good time too.

I want to get more strategy games. Ikusa, Diplomacy, and Battle Cry look like so much fun.

Mine has got to be Monopoly. All of the new types of Monopoly will not cut it....it has to have paper money and I HAVE to be the banker.

I know this isn't a board game, but I am absolutely good at SkipBo and even play it for money.....thats right, I am that good :p

Trivial Pursuit is great. But it has to be the old 1980's version. I got a first edition at a book store some years ago for $7, lightly used.

One of the best deals of my life. No exaggeration.

Oh, there are too many! But I'd say my favourite is probably Rail Barron. I don't know if anyone knows about that anymore. It is apparently not made these days. As for the winning/losing question, I win and lose randomly! But I prefer it when I lose. My family is quite competitive, so when I'm playing by myself (not on a team) I prefer to lose because I feel like everyone else is disappointed if they lose! They're good sports about it, though.

Sometimes losing can be really funny.

Oh like that time Judd refused to fly his bombers over the German positions. I told him but he wouldn't listen.

After a long protracted fight in which my infantry (I like to think the Fighting First) fought admirably took out a couple of tank divisions, we were overwhelmed.

A turn later, the Germans retained their hold on Moscow after a last ditch effort from my buddy playing as the Russians. Then London a couple turns later because my beach landing wasn't enough of a distraction.

Gosh that was the most fun loss of all-time. I should have known my friend would have been too cautious with air support.

Since this my second post on it, you can tell I find it supremely amusing to this day and that was three years ago?

Yes, and like all Americans I feel myself entitled to the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I feel that if I won too often in this household these rights might be materially damaged :p
