Don't think I've ever had that problem. But if I did I'd just correct them.

Maybe some people just use it as pick up line and when you correct them they would think you are interested in them. It is a little rude but some people will try anything just for a conversation.

I still wear my wedding ring, so I don't care, but also, I'm not a wimp, so I don't get offended by nothing.

if its from a man, usually i'm not going to correct it.. i'll add that i have 5 kids (cats) at home as well

I don't get offended, it makes things a little awkward especially if you aren't romantically attached to the person you are with. I was with my boss at a coffee shop eating our lunch and this older guy came up behind him and whispered in his ear that he had a good taste in women and asked how long we've been together....he commented just a couple months. When I got back in his car we laughed so hard especially since we were involved with other people.

I know when my bf and I go out people assume we are married and we just roll with it if we don't know them, but if we do we are quickly to correct them :)

It is no way near as bad when people make the mistake of thinking a woman is pregnant when she isn't .. ;) lol That can be megga awkward...

I've always delighted in the ways people will assume things about me that aren't true whatsoever, and they came to believe these things because they had a need to fill in some "gap" of information. I think it's funny the way people make assumptions about others, when all they would need to do is have some guts and simply ask questions.

About 90% of what people believe about me is completely false, and the falsehood isn't on me - people tell themselves what they want to hear and believe whatever sounds best to them based on how they feel about a person.

People are silly. Thankfully they are entertaining.

Sometimes people watching can be fun. You can guess what they are like or what they do in life. People are complicated but very interesting subjects. God must be very entertained with all of us.

For me it's more of the opposite, people have always assumed I am single and so they would go on with their agenda without even asking if I am single or not;)

Well it's fun these days because my brother and I both work at a tech support call center, so I've been asked several times by our frequent callers if my husband works there too. I just explain to them that I helped my little brother get a job. But we've both been asked several times if we're married or otherwise related.

Heck no! If they assume I am married, it implies that I am not completely repulsive. Look at it on the bright side.

The only time I was asked, I was mortified! I'll explain the circumstances.

I was ten years old, sitting quietly at the table listening to my mum talking to a couple her age who had just adopted a son. There was a lull in the conversation at which time my mom asked the lady: "how has being a mother has changed you?" there was a pause while the lady thought--a pause long enough that the guy thought the question was directed at me and asked, "Are you married?" Confused, I shook my head. The good Christian man was ready to do battle for marriage. "You're a mom without being married?" He asked me. I WAS TEN! The situation was cleared up, but I think I'm forever scarred :p
