It's that time of the year again over here, I'm sure they get bigger every year.

Found a massive one on my bedroom wall last night, so got out the vac
and sucked it up. They really get sucked up with a loud thump at that size.

However its evil twin even bigger, was walking on the ceiling when I woke up
this morning! Went to get the vac but when I returned it had scarpered.
So I spent a very unhappy several minutes hunting it down, then it also
went to vac heaven.

I mean really, who wants this in their bedroom at night!

(Example of what I mean, not the actual spiders last night).

I was bitten by a brown recluse one time. It ate a hole the size of a dime in my arm, and a half inch deep. It took months of visiting the doctor almost every single day for months to clear it up. They had to stuff a foot of thick string in the hole every day, and replace it each day as it soaked up all the vile stuff inside me.

You can have my vac if you like. :p

Spiders always seemed like hellish creatures to me. By the grace of God i've never been bitten by one before. But it's good you managed to get it before it disappeared entirely. In cases in the past i normally sprayed it with bug spray first then dispose of it. So if by any chance it got away it's only a matter of time until the spray takes it out.

  • Add 10 to 15 drops of peppermint essential oil into a spray bottle with 8 to 12 ounces of water.
  • Spray around door frames, windows, small cracks, corners of the ceilings and bathrooms.
  • Use peppermint essential oil without water for a more potent version.

Spiders HATE peppermint oil. Lavender oil also is a deterrent.

When I travel, I put drops of lavender oil around my bed and inside my sheets. Never know about those bed bugs.

I let the spider situation get out of hand by my front door...ive been leaving them alone because the webs trap so many mosquitoes, but yesterday I finally examined closely around my entrance and mailbox and saw SO MANY spiders, it grossed me out.

Going to sweep up all the webs and get get rid of a wasp nest when I get home today. And then throw my broom away!

If I saw a spider that big in my house, I would die. I don't like spiders, but I'm REALLY scared of roaches. Thinking about it logically, I should be more scared of spiders. Spiders bite and roaches don't, right? Then again, roaches carry diseases...

Anyway, yeah. They're both dreadful in their own way.

I think I would blow my house up if I ever spotted a rat.

Ive not heard of that one.

I know conkers (horse chestnuts) are suppose to keep them away. But I suspect they
would just run past them.

They run so quick!

Once I was in bed and woke up slightly, I'm sure something flicked against
my mouth or pinged across it or something. Anyway I must have gone
straight to sleep again.

When I woke up in the morning, there was this massive spider like in the picture,
on the wall just above my bed.

I jumped out so quick I can tell ya. I spent the entire day wondering if it had
dropped on me in the middle of the night! I wouldn't go to bed until I had
inspected my bedroom for any more.

A couple of days ago I opened one of the car's back doors, and there was a spider (much like the one in your photo) inside the door jamb, right next to the hinge. Fortunately, it had been squashed by the door being shut about an hour earlier!!

I love wasps, they kill spiders a bunch of other crawling things. They also look cute.
