Hi Magenta; I wish to make an apology to you and everybody that knows me on this thread. I made a statement to a poster on this thread that I was a missionary with stage 4 prostate cancer. That was a false and misleading statement to all of you that I care about on this forum. I do have stage 4 prostate cancer but I am not a missionary. When I am wrong I like to openly admit that I was wrong. If it was something that was done in public I believe it should be addressed in a public form. Thank you for your kind consideration and I really do appreciate being a small part of everybody's life here at Christianchat.com. So again please forgive me and God bless all of you.

By my own works there is no hope for me, Ephesians 2:8-9. So no by my own works i am not saved. Yet Ephesians 2:10 does state that after accepttimg Christ Jesus as my Redeemer, His Spirit will produce His Works in my life. For God has ordained that we should walk in good works or we should in the Holy Spirit.

This why James states faith without works is dead. Because a believer who will not allow the Holy Ghost to lead his/her life can't do the work we are ordained to do, by His power.

I seem to remember you saying to me that you read all my posts because you follow several whose comments interest you. So who is the stalker? I don't make a point to read all of anyones posts.

I don't mind anyone reading all my posts...if the motive to do so is righteous.

Thank you UnderGrace and for your understanding, I never meant to mislead anyone and especially you because you have been a kind and encouraging person and child of God to me. I know the reason I did what I did but did not want to cloud my apology with lame excuses. All of my super hero's both men and women have been Missionaries. Thank you for your post. :)

yet God said when you believe, you will never hunger or thirst again,

and yes, since God already knew who would be saved in eternity past, and predestined them to be children of God, then our salvation was already set in stone before we believed,

what happened is just like prophesy, when we finally took that step of faith, prophesy came true, what God already KNEW would happened came to fruition.

If salvation can be lost or handed back, there would have been no predestination based on what God knew, and he would be very untrustworthy as a prophet,

First,
Matt 5.6-
[SUP]6 [/SUP]“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.<<<<we still hunger and thirst for things of God, but I know where you were going so no big deal...

Second, Just an observation and not an accentuation, we just need you to help some of us out here...

You have stated in several past posts that you are not Calvinist....but then say this:

and yes, since God already knew who would be saved in eternity past, and predestined them to be children of God, then our salvation was already set in stone before we believed,

what happened is just like prophesy, when we finally took that step of faith, prophesy came true, what God already KNEW would happened came to fruition.

If salvation can be lost or handed back, there would have been no predestination based on what God knew, and he would be very untrustworthy as a prophet,
Whether you realize it or not, you are telling people you Believe in a Calvinist tenant of predestination and are elected and have no choice to come to God, he came to you...

Here is a chance for us both to grow and not hurl accusation at each other....could you help me understand why you are have previous posts that state you are not Calvinist and IIRC correctly and I am probably wrong, you have even came agaisnt Calvin, but you seem to imply here that you do in fact believe and adhere to his principal of predestination and being elect and chosen...If I am wrong, so sorry...just trying to understand where you are coming from...

We wont get snatched out, God is stronger than me, he promised never to let Go, even if I had faith of a mustard seed, he would hold on,

but look how that mustard seed grows, just like it, my faith grows, it does. It fade away, God promised to finish it,
The Good work he started in you may not be salvation as you think and others think it is....

Hi Stones,

I don't think so.

The sower parable isn't about the condition of our nature to sin. It's not talking about there's no one righteous.

It's talking about those who have a pliable heart that will receive the (seed) truth of the gospel to completion. We're saved, we're being saved and we will be saved. Those who endure in the faith are the true believers in the gospel and therefore the good soil. The good soil is the only soil that brings forth fruit, 30 60 100 fold.

I believe the seed is the truth of the gospel, the word of God. Jesus called it the message of the kingdom.

1 Peter 1:23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

Ok, is not how I see it but we agree on the good seed and the prepared ground so there's the unity. I don't see any need to try to persuade you. I hope you agree on this too, for I doubt I would change my view. It is a parable after all which is known by revelation. To build us not to tear down.

We believe what you have stated here, where we swerve away from agreement is this:
We believe, if you stop doing what you described above,

we need to stop for a minute, nothing in my post showed where I did anything, my whole post was about what God promised God would do. What he will do, and what he is doing not thing in it states a thing I said I would, am or will do,

So when you say when you stop doing, I never said you did I nothing to begin with, According to what I said, only God has the ability to stop doing, Because it is all about his work, his promise.

which is believing/trusting/abiding in him and what he has done, then we have made a choice to fall away...God and his promises are still there, they never went anywhere, we took the hike...we made an intentional, deliberate decision...God will never take free choice away from us...he cannot not, it is against his nature...we also do not believe this is a work...We believe that believing/trusting/abiding in him is the rest he speaks about in what Jesus did for us through the free gift...we believe our believing/trusting/abiding in him produces good works, not to maintain salvation, but to advance the kingdom...

You have never really said everything you believe so if I get this wrong, correct it...I am not saying you believe this, but this what it seems to be...this is not what I am saying or believing IT to be...

It seems you and others believe... You are believing/trusting/abiding in him and what he has done, you are incapable of making the choice to fall away, because God removes your free choice or you were elected before the world began. The complete obligation for keeping you is on God.....If you do backslide or stop your personal believing/trusting/abiding and even deny him, all is well because the gift of saving faith is God and Jesus faith, not your personal faith...

Again, I am not saying this is what you or others believe...It is just what seems to be what is being said...If I got it wrong, no offense meant, just help us out an either re-explain or otherwise...
what I am saying is God will never give me a reason to change my faith that I am a sinner, I was lost, thus I needed the cross to save me, because I have sinned and have fallen short, the cross is my only hope, so I want you (God) to apply those promises to me based on your promises your trustworthiness and your love.

what reason would i ever ever stop trusting God in this area, plus, as I grow, he proves he is trustworthy in other areas? So my faith is increased not decreased, To me it is not possible to fall back to an area of unbelief, thus becoming anti-Christ, who ever is. It for me is against me, that is an ant Christ.

faith only fails if it was never faith at all

mental agreement with the word of God has never saved anyone,

God is the author and finisher of our faith, not us,
Hebrews 12.1-3

12 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, [SUP]2 [/SUP]fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

[SUP]3 [/SUP]For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Is this a fact and telling us that Jesus' faith finishes our race, because of what the did on the cross?

-OR-

Is this an encouragement for our personal faith to grow and allow us to run our own race with confidence because we should look to Jesus and how his own faith allowed him to endure the world and finally finish his own race?

Using a military secnario here to help me make the point clearer...

I believe Heb 12.1-3 is like when a Military Commander that asks his troops to do something he has done before. His troops will then obey and do what is asked because they have confidence and are encouraged because the Commander has done what and completed what he is asking them to do...

I do not see these verses telling me that He is the starter and finisher of what I am asked to do...This is telling me Jesus was the example for how, like him, I get it done in him....

Hi Rosemary,

I also believe that Paul was referring to eternal life as the greatest prize. :) A race one competes in gets a perishable wreath which can't compare the the prize we receive when we run the race well.

Paul uses the athlete as an example as to how we are to run the race set before us. The athlete disciplines himself and trains himself to run so as to win the race.

So Paul is bringing his body under self control so as to not beat the air as a boxer, but instead to hit it's target.

He's telling us to train ourselves to continue on in the race so as to reach the finish line which is eternal life. I see it as an encouragement to keep on keeping on. Don't give up.

Believers during this time were beaten and tortured and imprisoned. They lived a very hard and difficult life. Some of us have it so easy in comparison. But I know that others in this world suffer for their faith and are being tortured and imprisoned. I think it's an encouragement that this race is the ultimate race and a worthy race.

What can be better than the prize of the high calling in Christ. In this race we will not perish, it will all be worth it because we will attain to eternal life and what a glorious prize that will be.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

~Mat 19:16 Just then a man came up to Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what good deed should I do to have eternal life?"

Mat 19:17 Jesus asked him, "Why ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you want to get into that life, you must keep the commandments."

Mat 19:18 The young man asked him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, "'You must not murder, you must not commit adultery, you must not steal, you must not give false testimony,

Mat 19:19 honor your father and mother,' and 'you must love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Mat 19:20 The young man told him, "I have kept all of these. What do I still lack?"

Mat 19:21 Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell what you own and give the money to the destitute, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come back and follow me."

Mat 19:22 But when the young man heard this statement he went away sad, because he had many possessions.

Mat 19:23 Then Jesus told his disciples, "I tell you with certainty, it will be hard for a rich person to get into the kingdom from heaven.

Mat 19:24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to squeeze through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into the kingdom of God."

Mat 19:25 When the disciples heard this, they were completely astonished. "Who, then, can be saved?" they asked.

Mat 19:26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, "For humans this is impossible, but for God all things are possible."

Mat 19:27 "Look!" Peter replied. "We have left everything and followed you. So what will we get?"

Mat 19:28 Jesus told them, "I tell you with certainty, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne in the renewed creation, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, governing the twelve tribes of Israel.

Mat 19:29 In fact, everyone who has left his homes, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, or fields because of my name will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

Mat 19:30 But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first."

Jesus is teaching here that only perfection of obedience to law will gain eternal life. The Jews knew it was impossible..and they didn't know the Cross at this point.

So Jesus did what was impossible for us....grace. Unmerited favor. And the baptism of Holy Spirit who does the work of salvation, saved, being saved, and will be saved...in our life.

It is not the prize of running the race. Paul speaks of going from mortal to immortal. And I believe this is the "catching up".

Exactly point .... we are all bad soil until conversion.

If you think about it DRose, aren't we all bad soil until conversion? All have sinned and come short of His glory. We all are tainted by the fall, born in Adam and separated from God.

He draws us and I do believe in predestination because He knows the end from the beginning of each of our lives. We are born in time, not knowing the future. He is outside of time and of eternity. He knows His own. And goes after us.

I can't help it, I don't want any prize but to be with Him. You can have my prizes and hats. I hereby bequeath them to you. Let everyone note that Jennie has bequeathed her prizes and hats to EG! I will not be caring about them but only want to be with Him! :)
Do you give your Christmas gifts back? ;)

Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works,
I think constructively said, we are have made it clear we do not believe in works to earn salvation.....you continue to see this, but ti is not what we have said....ever...
