Singing on the mic should be banned

Ok I know there are quite a few people out there who like to sing, play an intrument or just play music on the mic, and it would be perfectly ok if they actually went to the yousing room but no one does. It doesnt matter what room you go in you have to tolerate all this singing instead of having an actual conversation. I have heard the excuse well no one is in yousing.. well if all the people who sing or play music actually went to the yousing room there would be tons of people in there, Its almost as if they dont want to miss out on anything else so they wont go there. Well I think u need to choose go to yousing and sing or go elswhere and not sing.

One of the main things that bother me about the chat rooms is that there doesn't seem to be any fellowship there anymore.
When I first found CC; it seemed like there was a bible discussion in the bible discussion room almost all the time.
I don't know why that changed. I came to Christian Chat looking for fellowship online because it is something that this world needs more than anything.

Now it seems to me that the people who were into the fellowship, prayer, and bible discussions are getting banned or simply leaving on their own. This really bothers me. I feel it is to the point that I have been seriously thinking about leaving Christian Chat
Anyhow, I know that I am not as welcome here as when I first came. I suspect that it's because I still expect a bible discussion chat room to have bible discussions in it. Hopefully it will change for the better.

Wow. after reading the original post, then reading some of the replies, it made me think about what I said in the imoss post.

There are ton of no win situations us mods find ourselves in and this thread touches on a few.

Bella requests that those singing would do it in yousing instead of the lounge, because it's hard to fellowship with all the singing. She even suggests that they be banned.

Well here's the deal! Moderators have tried over and over to move people to other rooms when the lounge becomes cluttered with singing or sillyness or whatever! Often when that's done, people won't move or they'll complain or if they keep it up they end up getting banned!

So! Then we have to deal with people complaining about being asked to move to another room. Or we'll hear from others how CC is censoring or not letting others sing to the Lord! Or we'll get complaints that their friend was banned for singing or even 'singing to the Lord' in a Christian chat!!!!! How evil!!! Even though they were warned many times to just take it to another room.

So what do us mods do? If we try and give a little leeway or let the singing happen, then people get mad because of singing in the lounge. But if we try and enforce things then we get flack for, 1.censoring chat. 2. not letting others sing unto the Lord IN A CHRISTIAN CHAT ROOM 3.or their friend getting banned!

Again, another NO WIN SITUATION for us mods. So on one hand someone want's 'fellowship' but on the other the same person is upset with their friends being banned!

Sometimes to maintain the fellowship people want, we have to ban others that are causing problems. Sometimes that may happen to be one of your friends. Of course you don't know that because you may not know the whole story behind a ban.

Now we could again, go easier on banning people, but then we'd get flack because we let trouble makers cause discord. Yet if we get rid of those causing discord then we get flack because someone's friend was banned!

So I guess we could be sticklers for NO singing in the lounge. But that would carry with it certain consequences. That would mean people would be asked to move rooms or simply stop things or face being banned. Which would lead to others getting mad at CC because they view it as censorship, or quenching the spirit or whatever.

If we did that, then others friends would probably get mad. Then create even more work for us mods.

My point here is that on things like this, it's not always so easy to simply say STOP and get others to do it. There always seems to be some no win fall out from either decision that is made!

And this is all over a chat room! With people working for FREE so people can spend hours and hours of their day chatting!!

I dont think singers should get banned that is ridiculous and I never said that, I said SINGING should be banned. I just think that since they got a special little room to sing in they should be made to go there so people in lounge can fellowship and share things going on in there lives and people in bible study can discuss the bible and people in prayer can pray and so on. I understand that being a mod is not easy and that you all are trying to be fair. However there is a room all about singing and playing music so it should be used. also isnt the point of going to a CHAT room to CHAT just a thought also I deal with it everytime I come in. In fact I leave the room to make all these singers happy as do others I know. Anyway I forgot I wasnt allowed to have an opinion pardon me woohoo lets sing on the mic!!!!!!!!!!

Also, we're not supposed to be upset about the site drifting away from the original purpose. Be careful of what you say here or it will be twisted around in an attempt to make yo look like the bad guy.

BTW, i need to look and see which of my friends got banned so I will know who I'm upset about getting banned. I never said I was upset that a friend of mine got banned. I am the kind of person who says what I mean. If I was upset about a friend getting mad I would have asked why did so and so get banned in a private message to a moderator.
I wish people would not put words in my mouth.

Point taken. But the end result of banning singing may in fact include banning the singer.

People are allowed to their opinion. But I'm allowed to mine and I'm allowed to point out how difficult it is to enforce things.

Whitenite I take your point about you NOT being upset with your friend getting banned. Thanks for pointing that out.

But again, you don't seem to like the fact that this site is drifting away from it's 'intended purpose'.

Again, this is one of those no win situations for us mod. Do we enforce stuff and be sticklers for making it fit it's intended purpose and then deal with that fall out?

Well,bella,many of us do go to yousing to sing and play-but because some choose to not follow rules you would like to see all of it banned......what is your problem.you guys complaining about everything that doesnt suit you really is annoying.the moderators have enough to deal with without you folks adding to it with petty garbage like this.if you are so against music then you move to another room. whining is tiring for those of us who actually enjoy this site! there are alot of folks that come here,and ....ugh! whatever! you cant just start banning people for any old reason,just to get your way. and by the way if i get a request to play or sing in a particular room I will unless a mod asks me not to.(this actually happens alot with me) we dont all hog mic time or whateever your problem is-get over yourself.

And I should be careful about stifling legit suggestions. But I also want to take some time to inform folks that sometimes doing things isn't as easy as it sounds and us mods do face many just tough no win situations.

So it's not as easy as simply banning this or that that's happening in a room.

But let's not make the same mistake I made and hear bella saying something she isn't saying.

Yeah all she's saying is that it seems like the lounge gets so much singing that others can't even talk. So she wants that to stop.

Unfortunately, trying to stop that sometimes leads to confrontational conflict type situations between chatters and mods, where the singer won't stop or views it as an afront to their God given chat rights. So after not doing what is requested, the person ends up banned. Which sometimes snowballs in to even more stuff lol.

Bottom line, if folks would just follow the rules or read them even, people like bella wouldn't be frustrated to the point of having to make a post like this.

When people go to a concert they WANT to go to the concert to hear music. When people in the lounge start singing it is because there they have the biggest audience but maybe they don't realize that not everyone WANTS to hear them sing or play music. Personally I don't want to hear people sing in the lounge. That is what the yousing room is there for and if I want to hear music or hear someone sing, that is where I will go and ONLY because I want to be blessed by the music, not hear a bunch of show-offs . Showing off how well someone can sing and not even asking IF they want to hear them sing, is inconsiderate to the ppl in the lounge. Wouldn't it be great if there was a type of 'kick' that just transfers the singers to the yousing room

yeah,I agree about the following rules,and as you know,many of us do.now if i were to complain i would rather bring up the questionable talk in the lounge or secular stuff-but i'm not...wheeew those snoballs are gettin bigger and bigger each day-Jesus must be almost here! lol. I have chatted at this site for at least 10 years I love it I do especially in my current situation I am home a lot and this chat site allows me to speak to others over the age of 6 lol I said singing whould be banned as a title for my thread to grab attention altho I am honest enough to admit I wouldnt mind seeing it go when I want to hear music I go to a music site not a chat site also Id like to state for the record I understand mods have to deal with a lot and I dont care if singing stays just I wish people would keep it to number one christian music and do the majority of it in yousing. I was fine with mods letting people sing here and there but people started abusing the privilage and stopped completely taking it into another room and so if u want to have a conversation I cant tell you how many times I and friends of mine have tried to find a room without singing and ended up having to leave the site completely that is my complaint we are so worried with what singers are feeling no one has realized how often non singers leave to have a convo in fact I would be completely fine with singing being allowed in all rooms save one. start a new rule for example saying u want to sing sing in anyroom but lounge for example. anywhoo I will leave well enough alone
