There are many apocryphal books about Jesus, I think.

I wouldn’t take seriously any apocryphal book about Jesus.

A gospel is a writing that describes the life, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

The "gospel" of Barnabas contradicts the Gospels and Bible.

It wasn't even written by the apostle Barnabas, so it in and of itself is forgery (trying to make his [whomever wrote it] gospel appear legit by producing it under the name Barnabas) and it is a false gospel.

Also if Barnabas actually wrote a gospel, it would probably appear in the NT of the Bible or the Apocrypha.

2 John 1:7-11
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.

Romans 16:17
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.

Instead of directing me to someones explanation or whatever, you tell me what you think of this topic in your own words.

The Gospel of Barnabas isn't a real gospel, it wasn't written by Barnabas.

How can someone from the 17 century claim to be someone else writing about the life of Jesus during the time of Jesus?

This is my last reply to this thread because it doesn't seem as though you are truly interested about Christ/Christianity, it seems you just want to stir up emotions about something you don't have a full concept of.

I'm not trying to be harsh, sorry if it comes across that way but really.

Peace

Are you suggesting that every book ever written belongs in the Bible?

Most of the banned bible story is in the Quran. most of the story never be know before by christian after the scripture was found.

Everything a Christian needs to know to get to heaven is already in the Bible, I believe.

The bible have banned the story of Hell and it's punishment. But Quran have told in detail and the story is told similar with the banned bible.

All the lovely thing is in the Bible, but Quran got many harsh things, because Quran never reject any word of it.

what bible are you using?, my bible talks about hell. would you like some verses?. My bible also states that the only name in that we can be saved is the name of Jesus Christ. and that all others that would come after Jesus would be false prophets.

for future reference, lightbliss, the Epistle of Barnabas was not written in the 17th century... this book was considered as canon in the first century among other books such as the Shepaard of Hermas, the Didache, and the Constitution of the Holy Apostles however, during the Council of Nicea, they deemed this writing, as well as the Shephard of Hermas and the Didache and a few others as non-canonical, because even though is was in line with much of the teachings of the scriptures, the entirety of it was not in harmony with the Gospels and Paul's writings to the church

and lightme, there may be parts of "biblical" writing that were taken out due to close study of it and comparison with scripture, however the Koran itself contradicts itself many times, and denies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Those who follow it are condemning themselves.

I implore you to read the Gospel of Jesus Christ and pray to Jesus Christ to life the veil that Satan has put over your eyes... only Jesus Christ can set you free.

If someone in 1000 AD wrote a book purporting to be some addition to the Qaran, would you accept it? so, this discussion is really silly. You are a wolf in sheeps clothing, not here to get honest answers nor to increase your faith, but to simply sow doubt.

I have looked into a few of these "so called" books. When you read the bible there is continuity... If a book doesnt sound like a part of the Bible it isnt... why?? because it has a different author. Reading any book of the Bible to me is like reading a book of the same author... These imposters have different authors and anyone with an ounce of discernment can attest to this. You keep posting these links all throughout the threads... Is there a purpose in this?

With all this being said, the bible is complete as it stands... dont add the book of mohamed, the book of judas, the book of nebakanezar, or the book of barnabas, they are not scripture and stop posting this garbage, This is a Christian site that believes the Bible no additions no alterations.

Amen! The boards are flooded with at least 8 threads all with the purpose of discounting the Bible in favor of the Quaran. Enough is enough!

The Gospel of Barnabas was one of the noncanonical books most frequently discussed in regard to the canon but ultimately rejected. Muslims often cite The Gospel of Barnabas in defense of Islamic teaching. In fact, it is a best seller in Muslim countries. The problem is it isn't an authentic first century gospel written by a disciple of Christ. Here's is some excellent info on The Gospel of Barnabas by Dr. Norman Geisler author of Answering Islam:

What do we know about the 'Gospel of Barnabas'?
