Leaders of the flock, if they really are leaders, really do have a higher responsibility to live good lives. They are to be examples to the flock. If they don't have self control that is not being what Peter said to be in 1 Peter 5:3. They are not God's appointed leaders. They show that by their lives.

One time I went to a house church when I was looking for a church to attend. I walked into a house completely and utterly choked with the smell of tobacco. I figured if the leadership can't get a grip on a vice like smoking why should I expect to learn anything about growing up into the obedience of faith and victory over the flesh from them? I never went back. Sometimes you don't have to have the Spirit of discernment to know a false teacher from a real one. Their lives say all you need to know. The presence of the Spirit is most easily discerned by the fruit of the Spirit. No fruit-no Spirit. They can preach all they want about Jesus. But they show by their lives that they do not know him. They have service, but they do not have obedience. If they stay that way they'll be toast when Jesus comes back.

You would walk out on Jesus, Paul or John for preaching biblical salvation by faith........

That's what it says. But it also says they were lawless. That is the part you people are ignoring. You can't be a preacher or teacher doing works of service and believing correctly that you are not saved by those works of service but then turn right around and live in lust, adultery, covetousness, and hatred, and the love of this world. If you are doing that you show that you are not really saved and you will not be saved from the fire when Jesus comes back.

Paul did not use foul language to teach the truth and then turn right around and teach that you should not use foul language-Ephesians 5:4, Colossians 3:8.

If you think works have nothing to do with whether you have faith and are really saved or not, you do NOT know Jesus. you will be rejected when he comes back.

It does give one pause to wonder what some of these people think they are proving with their false witness and stirring up conflict in the community... some of the things God hates, for they are an abomination to Him... while they swagger around blustering and braying about works :confused:

What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?- James 2:14

It's a rhetorical question, dcontroversial. The answer is no. Faith without works will not save you. You need to start teaching this. Works are required for salvation because no works means you have no faith. They don't earn salvation. Works are the inseparable visible result of saving faith.


show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.-James 2:18

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, bit according ro his mercy has he saved us.

Your view means jack....it is faith that saves....end of story!

Jesus did not come to bring peace, but a sword that divides-Matthew 10:34. The truth causes division. That's not something to be ashamed of. It's okay to separate the false from the true.

Duh. Everybody knows this. The part you seem determined to ignore is you show you have the mercy of God by if you have works. No works means you don't have the mercy and grace of God in salvation. You will be burned up when Jesus comes back. You are a preacher, teacher and you do not teach this?

God's grace is free. It's up to us whether to accept it or not. If we do, we are saved. Faith is not a work... It is a gift.
