We can not earn Salvation by only obedience to the Law of the Creator, as James said and as Yahshua Himself said it takes YHWH’s mercy and our faith and works. Romans 10:4 is a verses mistranslated in the majority of Bibles thus blurring the lines of truth. Christ is not “the end of the Law” but rather Yahshua showed the intent, ultimate result or goal (telos) of keeping the Law of YHWH.

The word translated “end” is word#G5056, τέλος, telos, tel'-os
From a primary word τέλλω tellō (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly the point aimed at as a limit, that is, (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally, figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or prophetic], purpose); specifically an impost or levy (as paid):—+ continual, custom, end (-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare G5411.

Lets look at places this word is used in the Konie Greek originals to get an idea of it meaning and context;

Romans 10:4, "For Christ is the end (telos) of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Romans 10:4, "For Yahshua is the ultimate result (telos) of the Law unto righteousness for everyone who believes."

1Peter 1:9, "Receiving the end (telos) of your faith, even the salvation of your souls."

1 Peter 1:9, "Receiving the ultimate result (telos) of your faith – the salvation of your souls."

If the its the end of the Law aka Law is done away or at an end in Romans 10:4 then faith must also be done away or at an end in 1 Peter 1:9. Unless of course “telos” means the goal.

Greek Dictionary (Lexicon-Concordance) - #G5056 telos {tel'-os} from a primary tello (to set out for a definite point or goal)

HELPS Word-studies – 5056 télos (a neuter noun) – properly, consummation (the end-goal, purpose), such as closure with all its results.

James 5:11, “Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end (telos) of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”

James 5:11, “See, we call those blessed who endure. You have heard of the endurance of Iyoḇ and saw the purpose(telos) of יהוה, that He is very sympathetic and compassionate.”

1 Timothy 1:5, “Now the end (telos) of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.”

1 Timothy 1:5, “Now the goal (telos) of this command is love from a clean heart, from a good conscience and a sincere belief.”

Greek Dictionary (Lexicon-Concordance) - #5056 telos {tel'-os} from a primary tello (to set out for a definite point or goal)

HELPS Word-studies – 5056 télos (a neuter noun) – properly, consummation (the end-goal, purpose), such as closure with all its results.

Romans 6:22, “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end (telos) everlasting life.”

Romans 6:22, “But now, having been set free from sin, and having become servants of Yah, you have your fruit resulting in set-apartness, and the goal (telos); everlasting life.”

Romans 10:4, "For Christ is the end (telos) of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Romans 10:4, "For Yahshua is the ultimate result (telos) of the Law unto righteousness for everyone who believes."

The word is used in the sense of the end result, the goal, the outcome, not in the sense of the obliteration of the Law…

1 Timothy 1:5, “Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.”

1 Timothy 1:5-7, " But the goal* of our instruction/command is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions."

1 John 4:20, “"If someone says, "I love Yah," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love Yah whom he has not seen."

Mat 22:37-40, "Yahshua said to him: You must love YHWH your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. (Deut 6:5) This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Lev 19:18) On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

1 John 5:2-3, "By this we know that we love the children of Yah, when we love Yah and guard His commands. For this is the love for Yah, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy."
Did you read the post you cited?

You came up with the same definition of end as I did.

Then you tried to reach am unsupportable conclusion.

Seems to me that 'observing the 10 Commandments come under 'doing the Will of God ! JESUS kept them...does He ever teach us to stop loving God and Man ?
If you do you will not be in His Kingdom...what could be simpler to understand ? WHAT makes you reject them ?
what makes you keep accusing me of rejecting His commands?

the scripture says i am not under law and i am not under condemnation because ((guess what?)) Jesus Christ, the I AM, actually accomplished something when He came in the flesh!!

i reject the rejection of Him, and i reject unbelief.

i correct you when you say the 10 commandments are Deuteronomy 6 and Leviticus 19 - for that you judge that i am sentenced to hell? have i become your enemy because i tell you the truth?

our cat Boris died.

there were laws in the house - no instigating fights with Tiger, use the litterbox or go outside, do not eat lilies, don't drop your food in the water dish, no biting, all birds are to be eaten in the yard, never in the house, etc.

none of the laws were abolished, repealed, or made void. no laws passed away. not a single one, not even a part of one.

but Boris is not subject to any of them anymore.

So what are you saying? Is Jesus' sacrifice null and void because you can make it into heaven by obeying the Law? There was only one who did this and this was Jesus. He fulfilled the Law and Grace is imparted to us because of this. Are you Christian or Jew? Jew's teach the Law and Christian's the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is Grace. The New Testament Jews tried to put the Gentiles of the time under Mosaic Law. Paul and Peter agreed that all a Gentile had to do to do well was to abstain from eating blood and to not Fornicate. They said if they did this and believed on Jesus they would do well. So what is this you guys are trying to do here? Put us back under Mosaic Law which the Jews failed miserably at? What gospel are you teaching?

hello & welcome to CC :)
you got me a bit twisted there.. let me pull a bit and see if it straightens out:

what i'm saying is the same thing that is written in Romans 6-8

we were immersed in Christ, and therefore immersed into His death. we have died.
no one who has died is subject anymore to law - just as our cat has died and there is no more penalty for him and there is no more judgement of him by any law that regards the flesh.
none of our "
house rules" for Boris had to be repealed or abolished or broken to accomplish this. there is another way for Boris to become free; it doesn't require anarchy, as has been constantly accused. it is a perfect way, and it is the way of salvation.

Boris yet lives, and Boris is free - it is for those who have not become free as he has, that the the laws of our house still stand to judge them. our cat Blaise is still subject to "
no grrs and hisses at Tiger, no eating birds inside the house, dont' scratch the couch, use the litterbox etc etc" -- because our cat Blaise is still in the flesh. not so with Boris

whoever is in Christ lives by the Spirit, and obeys by the Spirit, not the letter. He made a perfect way, and it is for freedom He has made us free!! :)

no one here knows whether i keep the sabbath or if i reject covetousness or if i do not set other gods before the LORD or if i do not commit adultery --- but i am constantly accused of all these things because i proclaim the gospel of Christ crucified and risen, which frees us from condemnation

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's Commandment not to wear garments of mixed fabric is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to WEAR 50/50
poly/cotton blends.

50/50 Poly/Cotton blends are a tradition of MAN - who should we follow GOD or MAN ?

;)

The opposition here is to denying Christs work, calling The Sinai Covenant the gospel and pretending to judge and condemn believers over whether they ritually keep the commandments given to the Jews in the wilderness and breaking Torah apart into pieces to alternately judge one another by and to ignore. The opposition is to wholly perverting what the apostle wrote by the Spirit of God in Colossians.

Let no one judge you over sabbath keeping.

The opposition is to you and everyone else in this thread trying to judge people over sabbath keeping. We are not under Law, but grace, and the opposition is and has been from the beginning, opposition to a false gospel of works and a denial of the reality of His finished work.

And yet there is only one Judge. Who is it?

Hmm let me think, I'm struggling with it.
Bear with me. Is it he me? No it can't be cause ain't perfect.
Is it you? No because I know you ain't perfect:cool:

John 5:22-24
22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
Life and Judgment Are Through the Son
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Matthew 3
16,
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17, For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19, And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20, For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21, But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

There is no condemnation for those that put their trust in God. However you have not put your trust in him if you are practicing SIN when he has given you a KNOWLEDGE of his WORD because you are still in your SINS. Condemnation is loving darkness rather then truth because your deeds are evil.

We are ONLY SAVED by GRACE through FAITH and not of OURSELVES it is a GIFT of GOD and not of WORKS lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8)

However, once again, IF your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are still in your SINS because you have rejected the GIFT of God's dear Son (James 2:18: 20: 26).

If your tree has no FRUIT it will be cast down and thrown into the FIRE come judgement day (Matthew 7:12-23). Now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth NOT forth good fruit is CUT down, and cast into the fire (Matthew 3:10).

If you are still in your SINS when he gives you a KNOWLEDGE of the truth then you do not KNOW him who calls you in LOVE to LOVE another as he first LOVED you.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE KNOW HIM?

1 John 2
3,
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
DO WE ABOLISH GOD'S LAW BY FAITH?

Romans 3
31,
Do we then make void the law through faith? GOD FORBID; YEA WE ESTABLISH THE LAW
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST?

Romans 1
16,
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for IT IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION to every one that BELIEVES; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

SOME WILL PROFESS TO KNOW GOD BUT WILL NOT KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS DENYING GOD'S POWER TO SAVE.

2 Tim 3
5,
HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS BUT DENYING THE POWER THEREOF: from such turn away.

Matthew 7
22,
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23, And THEN WILL I PROFESS UNTO THEM, I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME YOU WHO SIN (INIQUITY; Break my Commandments)

DO YOU KNOW GOD?

1 John 3
6,
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7, Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8, He that committeth sin is of the devil....

DO YOU REALLY LOVE JESUS?

John 14
15
, If ye love me, keep my commandments.

.............

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30-31). God's Word says if we break one of the ten we stand guilty before God of breaking all the commandments of God (James 2:8-12). God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and if we break it like any of the other commandments we stand guilty before God of SIN (Exodus 20:1-17).

If we break any of God’s Laws we stand guilty before God in SIN (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20). This includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?
On the other hand therr is Paul's lament.

Romans 7 NIV

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

The Judaizers thought they were following God's instructions but ended up promoting a works based FALSE gospel. My belief/faith is in Christ (John 3:18; Acts 10:43; 16:31) and is not in the law (Romans 3:22-28; 4:5-6; Galatians 2:16; Philippians 3:9 etc..). Your delusional world of UNBELIEF has blinded you from the truth.
YES Dan, they created their own "religion" with their own Laws and traditions. This is what I have been showing you all along. The Mainstream Preachers of His time were NOT trying to earn Salvation by following God's instructions as you all preach. They were trying to earn Salvation by following their own "religion" they created. These people were the only game in town because everything anyone knew about God and His Word was filtered through them and their "Commandments of Men".

This is one reason Jesus came to them in the first place.

Not all Jews were deceived though as it is written. Zechariahs and Elisabeth didn't follow their religion, but followed the True Gospel that the Bible teaches. Notice the difference in how scriptures refer to them as opposed to the Pharisees. Nah, you can't see it. this is one of the volumes of scriptures you must ignore to further your religious traditions.

So if you can't accept these Biblical truths then you can't understand His Gospel. Like the Pharisees who did the same thing, you are left to create your own Salvation centered around your false belief that the Pharisees were trying to earn Salvation by following God's Laws. This leads you to preach that God's Laws are against us and tell more falsehood regarding Col. 2, and Galatians and Romans.

And when God's Word corrects you, as it has done many times, you work to discredit the messenger, another tactic used by the Mainstream Preachers of Christ's time.

DESCRIPTIVE of genuine believers who strive to walk, even as He walked and NOT to become saved but because we ARE saved.

What is God's will for us to become saved?
A man that preaches things about God's Word that isn't true is not doing God's Will. They claim they are, they believe they are, but the Word teaches differently. And regardless whether you follow God's Instruction of your own mind and ability that Jesus gave us, or if Jesus empowers us to obey, the bottom line is those children of God follow His Instructions. You preach against such life changes, calling anyone who believes EVERY WORD of God a legalist or whatever the insult of the day is.

*John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. Perverting the Gospel by teaching that salvation is by "grace plus law, faith plus works" is not doing His will.

You misguided teachers of the law are full of straw man arguments.
You keep saying I believe I can forgive myself. Or do so some "Work" to forgive myself. I'm really tired of this same old lie. Following God's Instructions is essential to Salvation. If you don't believe this to be true then you don't believe the Jesus of the Bible.

See post #4165.

LOL! You are the master of IRONY.
Christmas, your long haired Jesus, Halloween, Easter egg hunts, your Sabbath, etc. These are not the righteousness of God, these are man made righteousness.

Passover, Feast of Unleavened bread, His Sabbath that He created for man, etc.. These are God's Righteousness. You are the ones who are ignorant of this truth. So you create your own righteousness and refuse to "SUBMIT" unto God's Righteousness, just like the Pharisees did.

And anyone who humbles themselves unto God's Righteousness you insult and work to discredit, just like the Pharisees.

If Jesus came back today and got on this forum and said only those things He said in the Bible, you and your buddies would have Him labeled a "legalist" and you would be calling Him a Pharisee. Like He said, they hated Him first.

Talk about mixed up! Using that flawed logic, the fall of mankind, pain, suffering, persecution, great tribulation, hell etc.. is all mentioned in the word of God and that's good news? Yeah right!

It's interesting how Mormons "add" the Book of Mormon to the Bible and call it the "fullness of the gospel." Apparently, they seem to have the same flawed logic.

Let's see how the flawed logic of "every word that God speaks is the Gospel" lines up with Scripture:

Ephesians 3:1 - For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— 2 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: 6 that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, 7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power. 8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. *Nothing there about every word that God speaks is the Gospel.

In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Paul clearly states: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. *Nothing there about every word that God speaks is the Gospel either.
You my friend really do not know the Gospel. It was already shown to you but you disregard the scriptures even the very ones you quote above says. Try re-reading the very scripures you quote above. Here let me highlight it for you in RED. Now do not misunderstand me the death, buriel and reusrrection of Jesus are all a part of the Gospel because it is God's Word but IT IS GOD'S WORD THAT IS THE GOSPEL BECAUSE THE WORD OF GOD IS JESUS.

Now reconcile these scriptures with your belief that the Gospel ONLY means the death, buriel and resurrection of Jesus...

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The Gospel is JESUS <Jesus means Savior; John 1:29> and JESUS is THE WORD OF GOD (John 1:1-14; 17:17; 14:6). THE WORD OF GOD is the GOSPEL BECAUSE BY FAITH IT IS OUR SAVIOR and this the IS GOOD NEWS to those who BELIEVE. (John 1:1-14; John 1:29; John 17:17; 14:6; Matthew 4:4)

The death, burial and resurrection of Christ is a very important part of the Gospel but is that all there is to the Gospel?

Lets look at God's Word.......

The Gospel means; G2098 εὐαγγέλιον euaggelion (ev-an-ğe'-liy-on) n. a good message; Good news).

Ok I think most know that the word Gospel means good news or a good message. So if you only believe that the Gospel is the death burial and resurrection of Christ, how do you harmonize the following scriptures......

After Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.....

Mark 1
15,
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL.

Wait a minute? Jesus is ONLY JUST STARTING HIS MINISTRY and has NOT DIED, has not been buried and if he has not died and not been buried he certainly has not been resurrected. Yet here we have Jesus BEGINNING his MINISTRY and preaching the GOSPEL

and again..................

Mark 8
35,
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but WHOSOEVER SHALL LOSE HIS LIFE FOR MY SAKE AND THE GOSPELS, THE SAME SHALL SAVE IT.

Well here we have it again the Gospel is being preached BEFORE the death of Jesus and again......

Matthew 4
23,
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Seems like Matthew and Mark both agree that Jesus is preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom before the death of Jesus...

Matthew 9
35,
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Yep Jesus still going about everywhere preaching the Gospel. His whole Ministry BEFORE His DEATH was preaching the GOSPEL..

Matthew 11
4, Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5, The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and THE POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM.

and again..............

Matthew 24
14,
And this GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM SHALL BE PREACHED IN ALL THE WORLD for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Yep Jesus is still preaching the Gospel before His Death and Resurrection. Mathew and Mark both agree.....
Luke talks about Jesus in the Synagogue.....
Luke 7
22,
Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED.

Yep Matthew, Mark and Luke all agree the Gospel was being preached BEFORE the DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS.......

Luke 20
1,
And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and PREACHED THE GOSPEL, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

Yep there goes Jesus again teaching the people in the temple and preaching the GOSPEL before the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.....

So ok lets bring it all together............

The Good New (Gospel) is JESUS and Jesus is the WORD OF GOD. It is the WORD OF GOD THAT IS THE GOSPEL that we are to BELIEVE IN AND LIVE BY. (Matt 4:4; John 1-1-4; John 3:16). Why do you say it is a "works based doctrine" when we have to BELIEVE EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD? It is by GRACE that we are SAVED <HOW?> THROUGH FAITH and NOT of your selves it is a GIFT of GOD and NOT of WORKS LEST ANY MAN should boast.

Now if you do not know what the GOSPEL is how can you preach it to others? Man does not live by bread alone but by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the MOUTH of GOD.

Jesus's ministry started since he was a child but more so after the Baptism of John and his temptation in the wilderness where he soon after started preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and REPENT FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND! (Matthew 4:17; 23; 9:35; 11:5; 24:14; 26:16)

Did you know that the Gospel was being preached BEFORE the NEW Testament scriptures (Hebrews 4:2)? The GOSPEL is indeed JESUS; the Word of God and he is the good news of the Old and NEW Testament scripture that we are to BELIEVE and FOLLOW.

Mark 1:1
The beginning of the GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST; THE SON OF GOD <the WORD OF GOD; John 1:1-14; 17:17; 14:6>

THE GOSPEL WAS PREACHED IN THE OLD TESTAMENT....

Galatains 3
8,
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, PREACHED BEFORE THE GOSPEL UNTO ABRAHAM, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Yep once again seems like Abraham had the Gospel in his day in the OLD Testament well before Mt Sinai...

Luke 4

17, And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because HE HAS ANNOTATED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Well it seems like Isaiah from the OLD TESTAMENT knew about the Gospel (Isaiah 52:7 pointing to Jesus in Luke 7:22) so the Gospel indeed was being preached BEFORE the DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS even in the OLD TESTAMENT.......

The Gospel was preached to God's people leaving Egypt...

Context...

Hebrews 3
7,
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9, When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10, Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11, So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.
12, Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13, But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14, For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15, While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16, For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17, But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18, And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19, So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Continuing...

Hebrews 4

1, Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2, FOR UNTO US WAS THE GOSPEL PREACHED AS WELL AS UNTO THEM; BUT THE WORD PREACHED DID NOT PROFIT THEM NOT BEING MIXED WITH FAITH IN THEM THAT HEARD IT.
3, For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4, For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

In summary....

* The "GOSPEL" meaning is simply "Good News"
* The "GOSPEL" was being preached in the OLD TESTAMENT as well as the NEW TESTAMENT scriptures
* JESUS preached the "GOSPEL" BEFORE his death buriel and resurrection

The "Gospel" (good news) is EVERY Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God and it is God's Word that we are to live by and have life (Matthew 4:4). The "Gospel" was being preached before the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (e.g. Mark 1:15; 8:35; Matthew 4:23; Matthew 9:35; 11:5; 24:14; Luke 4:18; 7:22; 20:11)

The Good New (Gospel) is indeed Jesus, His life, death, resurrection and new administration as our great high priest, but Jesus is the Word of God. The Gospel is the WORD OF GOD and it is the WORD OF GOD that we are to BELIEVE and live by. (Matthew 4:4; John 1-1-4; John 3:16).

If we are NOT BELIEVING and LIVING by the WORD OF GOD we have yet to experience God's GRACE through FAITH, because OBEDIENCE is the FRUIT of FAITH. If their is NO FRUIT you are still in your SINS and do not know him who LOVES ALL (1 John 3:3-10; James 2:18; 20; 26; Hebrews 10:26-27; 6:4-8).

If you do not agree with anything I have posted by all means please address the posts and the scriptures provided in the posts and your reasons why you disagree with supporting scriptures.

If you cannot why do you not BELIEVE the Gospel is God's Word? You my friend do NOT KNOW what the Gospel is or the POWER of GOD unto SALVATION. If you do not know what the Gospel is then you are building your house on the sand and great shall be the fall thereof.

God loves you and wants you to be ready for his return. If you hear his voice please harden not your heart. Search the scriptures and see if these things be so.

.............

*Loving God and man is DESCRIPTIVE of those who are born of God.

1 John 3:10 - In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:19 - We love Him because He first loved us.

Believers receive the love of God in their hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to them (Romans 5:5).

Do you actually believe that you will receive eternal life based on the merits of obeying the 10 commandments? I have bad news for you (Romans 3:23; 2 Corinthians 3:6-9).
Hello MMD,

You should listen to what Beta is sharing with you my friend. If you do not KNOW what the Gospel is how can you KNOW God's POWER of unto SALVATION or what salvation is from?

Your Gospel only provides you with a FORM OF GODLINESS because you deny God's POWER to save you from your SINS (2 Tim 3:15). It is to these people that Jesus says I NEVER KNEW YOU DEPART FROM ME YOU WHO SIN (Matthew 7:23)

HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE KNOW GOD?.....

1 John 3
3,
And HEREBY WE KNOW THAT WE KNOW HIM, IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.
4, HE THAT SAYS HE KNOWS HIM AND KEEPETH NOT HIS COMMANDMENTS IS A LIAR AND THE TRUTH IS NO IN HIM.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE LOVE GOD?.....

John 14
15,
IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS .

Let's look at what your scriptures are really saying.....

1 John 3:10 - In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
You leave out the CHAPTER CONTEXT and do not understand the WITHIN SCRIPTURE CONTEXT to interpret the scripture as meaning you God will give you a loving feeling without the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE through FAITH. Let's look at the within Chapter CONTEXT of 1 John 3:10....

1 John 3
3,
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

What is sin?.....

4, Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law
.
5, And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6, Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: WHOSOEVER SINS HAS NETIHER SEEN HIM OR KNOWS HIM.

v5
IN JESUS (the Word) IS NO SIN;
v6
THIS IS WHERE WE ARE TO ABIDE by FAITH (see John 15:1-10) this is HOW we are to bear the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to LOVE GOD AND MAN. LOVE is the FULFILLING of God's LAW (10 Commandments) written on the heart to LOVE. This is the NEW COVENANT promise in those who BELIEVE. THESE are the TRUE BELIEVERS who are BORN again IN LOVE to LOVE and the circumcision of the heart through FAITH.

7,
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

This is what John was talking about earlier in 1 John 2:4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Let no man deceive you; he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous and again Rom 2:13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Let's be clear here, what is RIGHTEOUSNESS that we are talking about here? Psa 119:172

My tongue shall speak of thy word: for ALL THY COMMANDMENTS ARE RIGHTEOUSNESS. So we have any RIGHTEOUSNESS? But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS [are] AS FILTHY RAGS; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (Isa 64:6). ABIDING IN HIM is where our RIGHTEOUSNESS is but this is REAL not imaginary. It is God's POWER to save a SINNER from SIN (John 8:31-36; Romans 1:16)

8, HE THAT COMMITS SIN IS OF THE DEVIL
; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (SIN).
If you are still practicing SIN you are not following God. If you are breaking God's Commandments and still practicing SIN you do not KNOW God v6 and 1 John 2:3-4and you are following the devil.

9,
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
This is the key here and is why Jesus says, Truly, truly, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,1 he cannot see the kingdom of God. Whosoever is BORN of God does not practice SIN because he is ABIDING IN HIM (the WORD) throught FAITH. The seed is the WORD OF GOD (Luke 8:11)

Now the within CHAPTER CONTEXT is...

v4 SIN is breaking God's LAW
v5 Jesus came to take AWAY OUR SINS
v6 IF YOU ARE ABIDING IN HIM (the Word through FAITH) YOU WILL NOT PRACTICE SIN
v7 DONT LET ANYONE DECEIVE YOU. IT is those who DO NOT SIN (FRUIT OF OBEDIENCE) that are RIGHTEOUS
v8 THOSE THAT COMMIT SIN ARE FOLLOWING THE DEVIL; JESUS CAME TO DESTROY SIN
v9 IF YOU ARE BORN AGAIN YOU WILL NOT PRACTICE SIN BECAUSE OF FAITH IN GOD'S WORD

NOW that we have looked at the CONTEXT of v10 it does not seem to say what you are saying does it? Now let's look at the within SCRIPTURE CONTEXT....

10, In THIS the CHILDREN OF GOD ARE MANIFEST, AND THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL: WHOSOEVER DOES NOT DO RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT OF GOD, neither he that loveth not his

In THIS (summarising what has been discussed within the CHAPTER CONTEXT), that is, those (THE CHILDREN of GOD) who through FAITH have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE and those who are breaking God's COMMANDMENTS (the Children of the Devil) are MANIFEST (MADE KNOWN) WHOSOEVER DOES NOT DO RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT OF GOD (All your Commandments are RIGHTEOUSNESS - Psalms 119:172). Thos who SIN and break God's Commandments are not from God. Only those who through FAITH have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to God's LAW are HIS CHILDREN. Those in DISOBEDIENCE are the Children of the Devil.

Not going the way you expected it is?

.......................

1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
What does it mean to LOVE in the two GREAT COMMANDMENTS TO LOVE?

Deuteronomy 6
5,
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Leviticus 19
18,
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Did you know Jesus is quoting from the Old Testament scriptures in Matthew 22?

Matthew 22

36, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38, This is the first and great commandment.
39, And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

40,ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

Did you notice that Jesus says that on the two great commandments hang ALL THE LAW and the prophets?

links to.......

James 2
8,
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture,Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11,For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Now look at what Jamessays he is also quoting the second great commandment ofLOVE thy neighbor and calls it the royal LAW then he continues to link LOVE to OBEDIENCE to God's 10 commandments

links to.........

Romans 13
8,
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9,For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10, Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Now notice what Paul says; he is once again linking the second great commandment of LOVE thy neighbor and continues to link LOVE to OBEDIENCE to God's 10 commandments and shows that LOVE is OBEDIENCE (fulfills) to God's LAW the 10 commandment.

links to......

Matthew 19
16, And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17, And he said unto him, Why call thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God:BUT IF YOU WILL ENTER INTO LIFE KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
18, He saith unto him, WHICH? JESUS SAID,THOU SHALT NOT MURDER, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, HONOR YOU MOTHER AND FATHER AND THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF
20, The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21, Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Jesus showed him that he may have fulfilled His duty of love to his neighbor but not to God breaking commandment 1 and 2 loving riches more than God

So YES MMD Jesus is quoting the 10 commandments in Matthew 19 and Jesus, James and Paul all agree together that LOVE is OBEDIENCE to God's LAW (10 commandments)

1 John 4
6,
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7, Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; andevery one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8, He that loveth not knoweth not God; for GOD IS LOVE

1 John 5
3,For this is the LOVE of God, that we keep his commandments:
and his commandments are not grievous.

John 14
15
,If you LOVE me keep my commandments
Yes seems like James and John and Paul all agree with Jesus that on the two GREAT commandments of LOVE hand all the LAW and the prophets.

.............

My friend unless you are BORN AGAIN to LOVE you will not see the KINGDOM of HEAVEN. God's SPIRIT is ONLY given to those who through FAITH in his WORD OBEY HIM (Acts 5:32). If you are sill in your SINS you DO NOT HAVE the Holy Spirit.

IF you are still in your SINS you have not SEEN him or KNOW HIM. This should be a WARNING to you to turn away from SIN and BELIEVE the Gospel * EVERY WORD OF GOD.

God loves you and wants you to be ready for his return. If you hear his voice please harden not your heart. Search the scriptures and see if these things be so.

.............

Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

posthuman,
re: "rstrats did you totally ignore it when i previously linked this article?"

Not totally. I scaned it and didn't see how it showed that I misquoted the verse. Valiant had said that "...you can't produce ONE verse in the eplstles which supports your observing what you call the fourth commandment." I produced one from one of the many, many published translations/versions.

Indeed people only see what they want to see when it does not agree with them.

When it's only an absolutely false representation of what the scriptures say, it don't really count as a verse.

I can quote the Satanic bible all day, it doesn't mean what I quote is either true or remotely accurate. Go have a closer look at the link, and heck, google Lamsa yourself and read 10 more articles about him.

Must be why you keep repeating falsehood, denying the efficacy of Christ's atonement, twisting the scripture and why rstrats didn't care whether what he quoted is the truth or a perverse replacement of God's own speech, so long as it suited his purpose, huh

God's WORD is not falsehood my friend, it is the truth that leads to sanctifiaction. If you do not have it then you are still in your SINS and do NOT KNOW HIM who calls you in LOVE to LOVE another.

John 17
17,
Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth.

Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it.

Revelation 13:11

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

How does a dragon speak
