Okay,
so this revival happened in 1906.
However, this was a great revival where people saw the visual glory of God, miracles, and prophecies. There are countless stories from that revival. For example, one women (who God used mightily) prayed for someone who had missing teeth. Once she prayed for them, a set of teeth appeared. There was also a fire that came out of the roof that was about fifty feet in the sky and it touched the sky. This was God's glory manifesting. The funny thing happened
many calls were made to the fire department because people thought the building was on fire lol Just think about the God that we serve.

Yes sure was the beginning of the latter rain
Holy Spirit Revival began in smallish ways in Britain and America in
the 1880s (limited to a congregation or two)
then once divine healing became notable it grew rapidly
there was a great Welsh Revival in Wales around 1902/03

Azusa Street made Pentecost alive and awesome in a big way
the Assemblies Of God [AOG] started off at this time as well

Worth reading about
Smith Wigglesworth and John G. Lake

I came from the Jesus Movement in the late 60s, early 70s. Azusa Street was the parent revival of that revival. Brownsville Revival/Toronto Blessings was the child revival of the Jesus Movement.

There is good and there is bad for each. The good? Obviously, many came to the Lord.

The bad? It became more and more about the signs than the Lord. And then it became an experience more than the Lord.

The thing I remember most about the Jesus Movement is the church wasn't ready for us. Lots we can learn from revivals of the past, but I strongly suspect we don't learn well.

I honestly do not think too many signs are bad. Because if they are moving under the anointing and God is performing the miracles then it's not bad. It's through signs and wonders sinners come to the Lord. In the book of Acts , there are many conversions because of signs and wonders.

Right now today there is enormous worldwide Holy Spirit revival
happening principally in the Third World and in the Second World.
Oceania, Papua New Guinea (phenomenal numbers), SE Asia, Africa,
China (panicking and now persecuting), Koreas, South Asia,
Eastern Europe and Russia, Brazil.

Signs wonders and miracles - these signs shall follow them that
believe the gospel -
The West is dying whilst the rest of the World is coming alive.

I didn't say, "too many signs." When people come for the signs, that's the problem. Most people come for the show, not the Lord.

As to whether signs are good or bad, I've seen both. I remember seeing a faith healer(that's what he called himself)come to my grandmother's church and heal two of my cousin's teeth. They spit their fillings out, and their teeth were whole again. Some other folks were healed too, but I only looked on their mouths.

Then there's the whole "slain in the spirit" thing. I read the newspaper about a woman killed at a benny hinn revival, when a man "slain in the spirit" fell on her.

How dare you mention the good things that are happening within the church and the things that God is still doing world-wide, we amongst apostasy I tell ya, apostasy! Nothing ever good happens now! Turn off sarcasm.

It's actually quite refreshing to find someone who is not mentioning all the bad, rotten things about the church.

Yes, many people do come for the show. But, if they leave saved and filled with the holy spirit then glory to God. That's what probably happened in the book of Acts. They probably had heard of the disciples performing miracles and decided to come to "see" but left being saved. . The only time I have a problem with signs and miracles is when it's from the devil.

The bible never mentioned being slain in the spirit. When a person is slain in the spirit, someone (pastor, minister, etc.) lays hands on them, and they fall to the ground. I believe God takes over and they cannot control it and falls, I guess. It's a rather interesting phrase.

One way to know is if you have the gift of discerning spirits. You can pray for God to give you this gift and he'll allow you to discern rather "sense" what's of the devil and himself. It's a wonderful gift to have. A person with his gift can even detect angelic beings as well. One thing about satan is he loves to copy God. Think about everything God does and just know that satan will copy it.

Read Acts! It includes a young man being brought back to life, and someone disabled being healed, but those were the small things. The big thing was the message set forth. Paul started out all gangster, but read it. It's a whole lot of places and people awakening to the Lord. And the same people go off and bring more and more. The signs and wonders were shocking, but never the message.

What happens too often now is the people who come to see the signs and wonder, don't come back to see who it's all about. Some churches do that intro without furnishing the education after the people believe. It's always just the intro.

That's what went wrong with Azusa Street, the Jesus Movement, and even now while the signs and wonder are lauded without the wonder of Christ himself.
