How do you add multiple posts to a response?
Easy as pie, when you cut and paste you'll need to include the end tags with brackets, like this,
End tag, (insert quote), End tag
when you add the end tags with the quote in the middle the computer will do the rest and presto its there on your post. If you do not add the tags on the end it will not work.

Now if you edit the post you can omit as much or as little as you want and it still will work like this;

How do you add multiple posts to a response?
Later when you post you will not see the end tags but without them it won't work, try it out.

God bless!

Peter didn't have good works when he denied Jesus.
Was he saved?

David didn't have good works when he took another man's wife then had him killed.
What did God say about David?

The same David who took a censunagainst Gods will and if memory serves me the same David who ate the shewbread.
The Lord knows his own, and even though they broke God's commandments, their sins were not directed against God.

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (2Ti 2:19 KJV)

From (Num 16:5 KJV)
And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.

Hi Areil82, wanderer6059 has made a very good point, "quenching is rendered as suppressing." I have noticed lately that benher does not support his biblical ideas with scripture references. Could it be that he is more interested in promoting his false biblical ideas instead of finding the truth at any cost. "The free gift of God is eternal life", wow works are excluded for our assurance of eternal life really.

Romans6:22,23
22)
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
23) For the wages of sin is death, but the "gift of God" is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I think the issue is that even those we disagree with on this thread concerning works is as follows.

The majority say "Works do not save" when they say that it's based on initial salvation and that only.

Then what happens we hear that works keep us saved, no works therefore no evidence of salvation. To a certain extent I do understand that BUT

The truth is it takes time for fruit to grow. Yet some say it must happen straight away.
If it doesn't then evidence of not saved.

If they had works but stop evidence of not being saved, lost salvation.

Yet people in the church just write them off without coming alongside.

People seem to forget that our Father refines us. That we have seasons.

The seed planted in a believers life needs to watered, needs tilling.
The soil needs to be treated, roots pulled up, faulty foundations replaced.

So the focus changes to works salvation.
Let's be honest who here has not fell foul of that?

Let's be honest, if we are saved by grace through faith void of works why would it change afterwards?

Truth is it doesn't because the truth is that a genuine beliver will start to bear fruit which will lead to works. All at a different rate.
We all need to be refined/pruned and taught and disciplined if need be.

If he doesn't discipline us then the Bible tells us that basically we are bastard's illegitimate.

If that's the case we were never his children in the first place.
If that's the case then we were never adopted because we never had true saving faith.

At the end of the day works salvation leads to "I must do I must do I must do, I must be I must be I must be"

And this totally misses the point of who we are.
Who are we? Children of the Father, his beloved.

Jesus said he came to set the prisoner free, heal the broken hearted, reveal the Father and his heart for us.

When he works in us, sets us free, heals us we then grow in him, we get to know him and as a result we become like him, not to be saved but because we realise we are his precious kids, the apple of his eye.

We do because we are, we do not do to be loved and saved.

Jesus walked with sinners, he sought them out and walked with them.
Even those who shrunk back, his disciples.

Let's not place a heavy burden on people.

Belivers struggle, need healing, need faulty foundations replaced.
Belivers go MIA.

Seek them out and do not write them off (not saying this about you TT)

It's a call to all of us believers.

I get it BillG, but its about boasting in your works, if you want to work your self to death be my guest but works are evidence that you are saved, works cannot add 1 extra second to your eternal salvation. I am not saying someone who works to keep there salvation is not saved, I am saying Jesus already paid the price so there is nothing to boast about. Jesus paid it all all to Him I owe.

Did you get my post on multiple quote postings?

The works for salvation people say;

Works do not save you but without works you are not saved - confused yet?

You cannot have it both ways or you cannot have your cake and eat it too.

This is twisting scripture and a false counterfeit gospel.

may I ask why you think your good works will cause God to ignore all of your death sentances (the penalty of sin is death, so count your sins that you know of since birth, then probably add a million more (the ones we do not know or forgot) and you have an idea how many death sentances you have right now against you) and just go against his own justice and righteounsess and allow you into heaven?
Good works will never save you. As you say, if you were to put your good works up against your sins, your sins are far more numerous than your good works. So good luck with that concept.

What good works are for is the good works that Jesus created for you to do in faith. Good works are for the benefit of the poor and the hungry and the prisoner, and the naked, and the needy in general. And if you have faith in Christ, you will follow him, which means you will do what he did, and that is what he did, day after day, after day. So get to work, if you have faith.

yup
saved apart from works
forever
who will in no wise be cast out

unto good works

i mean the effort of men may be wonderful to you

but what i believe is truely wonderful is God working in His children

God making a wicked people new creatures

and adopting them
sealing them
and keeping them

His love is truely amazing
Again, if you are saved unto good works that Jesus created for you, and you do not do those good works, will you be saved?

Well since scripture says we are sealed by the Holy Spirit the moment we believe , and doesnt talk about unsealing due to anything we do , i dont believe the Holy Spirit ever leaves a believer.

I think to quench him means to hinder him , keep him from leading you

If what you say were true , then all of us would have lost our salvation , because none of us are perfect in our walk , we have all quenched the Holy Spirit at times
I believe that the difference is that you recognize that you have quenched the HS and in your own way, you have repented and have allowed the HS to return. We all sin, but we all have the capacity to repent and get back into reconciliation with God. He is a merciful God.

So you know what TT?

Given my experience I'm not sure it is just about boasting in works.

Yes we know come judgement day there will be some who boast in their works or claim their works to be saved.

For me and this is very sad but true and may be typical of many.

My thoughts were along the lines off, work to be saved and or loved.

My grasping thoughts were the verses in Corinthians about works being burned but me saved.

And if I was then what, what crown would I get, would I get a mansion or a garden shed.

It really isn't the way to walk. It's no wonder that so many by belivers are so ineffective and paralysed.

Love casts out fear, if we do not know love then we fear.
If we fear then cannot love, if we cannot love then people cannot see Jesus in us.

It's a vicious cycle and I'm convinced it's not a cycle Jesus wants us to ride on.

The analogy of a cycle.
When we first ride a cycle it has stabilisers on it.
At some point they are removed.
Free to cycle, free to be like Jesus.

you then lied and say i ignored scriptures

right now i see youre trying to provoke me

and im taking the time to figure out this search engine.... it seems buggy

but ill re-post my last answer if i can find it in between my bits of downtime at work

if i cant figure it out before i get home

ill type out the context all over again

even if i know you will reject the same answer to your same question
Look, it is not that important, just let it go. Please.

ANSWER MY QUESTIONS.

Was Peter saved when he denied Jesus?
If he died before Jesus rose again is he in hell?

The same for Thomas?

Peter denied Jesus, Thomas would not believe until he saw Jesus.

Peter cut a guards ear off.

Jesus asked Peter 3 times "Do you love me"
The first 2 times Jesus used Agape, Peter responded with Phileo.
The 3rd time Jesus used Phileo and Peter gets upset with him.

The point is that at that point in time Peter did not Agape Jesus.

Do you/we Agape Jesus?
If not then we sin against him.

Did you Agape NMC when you called him a crybaby and to stop crying?
I know NMC can take care of himself, but what about someone else who cant?

One thing is for sure.

There is no record of Peter asking for forgiveness or Thomas.
David acknowledged his sin, and who was that sin against?
Yet even during his dark days God went after him.

So David, Peter, Thomas all die before they repent/confess.

Heaven or hell?

Another thing for sure.

I'm forgiven on account of Jesus, nothing more or nothing less.

Yes I'm to forgive, reasons being to set me free, the offender free and to walk in fellowship with God.

So one last question to you.

When my Christian foster dad on the first instance of sexually abusing me and I cried all night and I was confused and angry then I died before I woke up and the same thing the following night.

I had no capacity to forgive as a 14 year old.

I die on the third night. According to you I'm not forgiven and am in hell???????????????
I will only answer your Peter question.

When Peter denied Christ, he had 2 choices.
1) continue to be alienated from Jesus, in which case he would have lost his salvation and found himself in hell.
2) humbly repent and come back to Christ, in which case he would be saved and become the great apostle that he was. he chose 2

Fictional story as usual, what Christian would stop doing good works, the answer is "none"

Even a prayer for someone in need, in the quiet of their room, where nobody can see, this is still a good work for our savior. You assume some Christians will stop doing good works, your assumption is wrong, therefore you application is wrong. Christians will continue to worship and serve their Lord Jesus Christ for eternity.

Every swing of Noah's hammer on God's Ark, was a good work by Noah fulfilling God's will.

ok ben

im not at home yet but ill start now

you asked how

Matthew 6:14-15
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

__________

fits into the promise of eternal security

this indeed is a conditional promise ben

in that regard you understand it completely

14 is the promise
15 is the condition

but what you dont understand

is what this promise is speaking of...

it is speaking to those who are already saved

forever

and the punishment to those who are currently His (He is their Father)

who do not forgive men

is when their works are tried by fire
they will not endure it

they will burn up.....

how i know this is regarding treasures in heaven? well first of all

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

This is Jesus explaining the difference of earning treasures in heaven and on earth as part of the same message

1 corinthians 3
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

here is the same principal being shown again

God would need to break His promises to make matthew 6 mean what YOU THINK it means

here is another one of His promises that paired with the principal im showing you
should clearly show you

once you are His

you are saved
forever

john 6
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
___________
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

the promise here is eternal security
37-39
and the condition is 40

to all those who believe on Jesus
OK, thank you for that.

Just explain in your own words, not a bunch of scriptures: If he was speaking to those that were saved, why did he give them this promise and condition?

IOW if they are saved and secure eternally, why tell them that if they do not forgive, God will not forgive them?
Remember that if God does not forgive their sins, they will not be with Him in the KOG or have eternal life.

If they are 'saved' why they sermon on forgiveness?
