God told you you were saved if you recieved his gift, is his word not enough for you to as you say “irrefutably know”?

John said you can know you have eternal life, why would he say it if it were not true?

Oh you don't have to maintain it? Do you have to look for evidence that you have been "born again"?

If so, what does the evidence look like?

Works and faith? Faith alone? Works symbolizing your faith is legit? The other way around??? uhhh

Am I saved for ever?

What does it mean if I can't live a sinless life, should I even attempt to live sinlessly? Does it mean I am just not meant to be saved?

Is that tribe in central america that remains isolated going to hell for never hearing the gospel? Will God judge them differently since they didn't hear? Are we better off just not learning about God if that is the case?

Again, depending on who you ask.... you will get different answers with SCRIPTURE to back it up.

You base all of your beliefs solely on the bible and nothing else.

2 tim 3: 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I go with what is the only trustworthy source of information we have, if the bible says it can make me not only complete, but thoroughly complete, yet can not do that, the bible can not be trusted, and if the bible can not be trusted, then christianity can not be trusted.

You want to listen to men and base your eternity on what they say, feel free, the jews did that, and the men they trusted crucifed my savior, because they made the same mistake your making, the took the word of men equal with the word of God, if they would have just taken the word, they would have been saved.

Whether you attend an organized church of some sort or not, you are still using the same guide book.

Point is that you are still using their book.... yet claim you have nothing to do with them.

Catholics have the same canon. They only have a couple extra books.

Why would there be separate interpretations within the protestant branch if protestants are right and everyone else is wrong? They don't even appear to agree with eachother.

Bible is right, don't add something else, bible say Jesus is God, why catholic say Islam worship Abraham god? Abraham god say Jesus is God.

Stop looking at denominations, and start looking at the word, it will not lead you astray like men do,

Are you so diluted that you ignore the fact that the Word itself is what rises these questions and denominations?

Your solution would only work if we all read the bible and kept to ourselves and never shared any of what we learned with anyone else.

Ironically the word commands us to fellowship and be part of the body, that kind of involves social interaction..

Apparently the Holy spirit tells people to start different churches based on different interpretations all the time...

I wonder if maybe, just maybe, this Holy Spirit might just be highly customizable so much so that varieties of it exist and the evidence is plentiful... Hence the different denominations etc...

Truth is objective. Like saying Ice is frozen and Fire is hot....

Objectivity in the church is not really there, subjectivity is what you find..

People when they stand in front of agod will be held accountable for what they believed

Not what church they went to

Not what man they put them under (be it priest, pastor, deacon, pope etc etc)

Not ehat they were taught by men.

But the word oF truth, the gospel of their salvation, in hich after they heard, they placed their faith in that word and because of it, was sealed b the spirit.

LOL the bible was around before the canon....? It was lose scriptural texts, not everyone used the same texts, or versions of text..... It had not yet been compiled, hence the word canon, which is a compilation...

Not all early sects agreed on views... just like today. Some even were against Jesus' deity...

For your logic to make sense it would involve complete Isolation from anyone else. Sharing anything you learned might and will cause disagreement. This is my point, we rely on a book that has proven to be confusing.



The bible you have today is nothing compared to the "bible" before because there was no such thing....

The question is:

Dude, you keep saying the same thing over and over again. You don't realize that it actually isn't that simple right?

If it were that simple, even the sinfulness of man would not be able to complicate the message, it would be on a whole other level of transcendence. But it is not. People are still confused by it, no matter how much they understand the concept of "sin" and accept it.

These blanket statements may work for your common Sunday church goer, but when you try to use these lines with people that have lived on both sides of the faith and actually educate themselves with the content, history, and study, this won't work.

Until you get this correct you cannot get anything else correct.

Are you a sinner? What will you do about it? What if you cannot do enough? Why do you not trust Gods word on the matter?

God deals with each and every person on an individual basis. In the presence of Gods righteousness every mans sin is made manifest.

Straw men cannot resist the thruth of Gods word. Gods Holy Spirit leads to the truth in Gods word if one will permit.

I left the "church" long ago, my friend.

I read the book for myself, I was left very confused.

I've prayed, fasted, "spoke in tongues", the holy spirit "interceded" for me in prayer.... etc.. still confused, still don't understand.

I was the type of person to preach the good news to strangers, was involved in my local ministry, prayed for the sick, did my best to grow spiritually according to the word, etc. But somehow, I now don't believe anymore. This is recent too. You can find some old posts of me here....

Yes, it is a conditional agreement. But God asks about the least thing He could ask of us. Confess Jesus Christ as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Rom 10:9-10). Once a person does that, he is sealed with the gift of the holy spirit, the guarantee of salvation (Eph 1:13-14).

God agrees to give eternal life to those who have faith, or believe.

The question is:

What does it mean to believe in Jesus? Is it just a prayer? Is it belief in the story of the crucifiction?

Rom 10:
9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

To confess Jesus as Lord basically means that you make him "boss".

Is it living your life according to Jesus' teachings?

While Jesus is our example, living your life according to Jesus' teachings is not what saves you. Faith in him is what saves you (Eph 2:8-9).

Are we all meant to believe?

1 Tim 2:
4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2 Pet 3:
9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Eze 33:
11) Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

God wants all people to believe, but He cannot force us. He gave us free will.

So you've got it right and everyone else on the 700 club, american churches, European churches, and what have you got it all wrong?

Please enlighten me... I thought the bible approved of teaching to those who needed education on the matter, you are now telling me to ignore everyone else and find the truth for myself....
