Why wouldn't it? The various people on earth speak languages different from each other.
Yes various people do speak in different languages .God who made ear knows everyone of them

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? Psalms 94:9

Why would a parson change the way God hears by divers weights, and divers measures. Words easy to understand is his measure as the honor weight. Why create a wonder?

Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the Lord.Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them
.Proverbs 20

This type of reasoning creates a serious problem for tongues advocates today. And here's why.

Some of us believe that tongues ceased at the end of the apostolic era. Others, like yourself contend that tongues won't cease until we meet Christ "face to face" .. because you claim that Jesus is the "perfect (completeness) to come" .. and not His written Word.

In either scenario though, it remains true that in the presence of Jesus Christ our Lord, tongues will no longer be. So why are they present in heaven now, if what you claim is true ?
Where does the Bible say the manifestation of speaking in tongues is in heaven now?

It doesn't. You're the one who suggested "why not" to angels speaking a different language from one another in heaven. What do you think tongues are but languages themselves ?

I scrolled back. That is the one downside of setting someone to our ignore list. Their posts don't appear if someone responds to them.
Candles is speaking to the Gabriel2020 person that called her daughter of the Devil. Not only is that post where they sought to offend and violate the personal attack rule still visible but apparently Gabe is still a member.

In future if you want to read 2020 just scroll to the bottom of the page and click the message there that allows you to read those set to ignore. That's how I could answer your question.

ummm

I don't have him on ignore

if I did, why would I be asking him to please quote who he is speaking to?

Without a doubt, tongues are languages.

When a person speaks in tongues, he is speaking a language he does not know (1 Cor 14:2, 14).

It can be a language of men or of angels (1 Cor 13:1).

Gabriel 2020 was who I quoted. It should have appeared in my reply.
Here we have it. Post #957. I bolded his remarks to make it easy to differentiate. I don't know what god he's talking about but whatever gives his tongue such license is definitely not the one in our Bibles.

Gabriel2020 said:
Salvation is not a gift, the holy spirit is a gift. what are you talking about? did you mean to put it that way or not?
If you want to pester Christians on a forum at least spend the time to learn what the Bible says about the subject you want to tear apart thinking you're upsetting folks.
Gabriel2020 said:
Amen.he promised a lot of things to us. Give him a reason to break those promises.,and he will.
Well, I think it just a matter of time before the door closes on you here.

right...got it

thanks for your response and just use the quote thing :)

just report that type of thing. it's gotta stop

thanks!

23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:
for the Father seeks such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
John 4:
But when the Comforter [the Holy Spirit] is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 15:26

So in order to comply and be in accord with this a disciple needs to be assured that they are indeed a true worshipper,
and indeed do really have the Spirit of truth indwelling them.
This is why Jesus said those that believe would speak in new tongues - confirmation and evidence of truth.

18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jude 1:

So how do "believers" pray in the Spirit and worship in the Spirit if they cannot pray in tongues - a God given prayer
language expressly given for this very purpose.

so I'm wondering how long you have been the gatekeeper to worshipping God?

you also are using out of context verses you choose to make your point

a person can worship God, as scripture states, in their every day activities

you have some funny ideas about how the Holy Spirit operates. for one thing, you seem to be way too enamored of tongues

it is not the be all and end all of the gifts God gives through His Spirit

No one needs to speak to God. God already knew you before you were born, there's nothing new you are about to say to Him let alone in unknown language. Tongues ceased or rather are the many languages being spoken today.
do you pray?

guess not

figures

Prayer is not what you think it is, it is nothing more than a need which God already knows and will fulfill. If it were some spoken word, then do people with no ability to speak have a chance in the kingdom of God?
even Jesus prayed

but you don't need to

just when you think you have read about every ignorant statement someone can make regarding scripture, someone goes one better

garee, post: 3642911, member: 237842"Thanks for the reply and I apologize for my bad use of grammar .

If we did say we do know him after our experiences rather that as it is written alone. Then Son of man failed when the father of lies brining in vision showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and all the glory... and desired that Christ bow down as a one experience .

Each time he was tempted he would say, as it is written, with the word it to represent the unseen faith of Christ that works in the heart of all believers. He performed that to protect the integrity of his word above all experiences.

He could have offered some of his own experiences. But then it becomes a war of experiences as to who is the greatest and in one way crucify Christ over and over by a personal experience, as if we did wrestle against flesh and blood as the things seen and not the faith of Christ the unseen, faith law.

We have a living hope that moves us which will be satisfied when we receive our new incorruptible bodies, all die not receiving it. For who hopes from something they already have or accomplished?

I see what you are saying here. I have no problem with an experience that does not create a new or different doctrine. Even salvation is an experience but it lines up with the word of God. You are right when you say that we stand on the word and not experience. God's word is true and should be the foundation for our lives.

but again, we constantly have 'experience' as we go through this life but I would agree that an experience is not necessarily proof of what God says, however it can certainly be a validation of what God says

When we receives our new incorruptible bodies then we will be complete or perfected right

I would call the experience we do have the better thing that accompanies salvation .God will not forget the love we have shown and experienced. It as a source of Christ faith that works in us will abide till the end, Again our hope is towards his name, not after our experiences

that agrees with what I said above

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: Hebrews 6:9-11

the subject is prayer

I said nothing regarding tongues

you know Jesus prayed because the Bible says that He did

the Holy Spirit was sent to believers who believed in the Son of God...the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove did alight on Jesus when He was baptized

I don't know if Jesus spoke in tongues because the Bible never says He did or He did not

tongues do not come into the picture until Jesus ascended and in prophecy in the OT

if you consider yourself a Christian and you tell people they do not understand what prayer is, it leaves alot of questions about what it is you are saying

Jesus raised the dead and drove out demons from a possessed man; non of them prayed.
Someone thinks they are special just because they can pray.

are you saved?

the Bible records Jesus rose early in the morning to pray

I asked if you are saved because if you never pray, then what kind of relationship with God do you have?

JESUS PRAYED, the Bible records that He prayed and you come along and say no one prayed

either you have never read the Bible or you don't like what it says

Speaking in tongues is not God speaking prophesy. Never has been, never will be.

When people speak in tongues they are speaking TO God in a language they do not understand (1 Cor 14:2, 14).
Speaking in tongues is not God speaking prophesy. Never has been, never will be.

When people speak in tongues they are speaking TO God in a language they do not understand (1 Cor 14:2, 14).
God is doing the speaking. Those who refuse to hear all things written in the law and the prophets (sola scriptura) do not like the law of faith. As God brings new revelation(prophecy) in other languages other than Hebrew a lone... it is a sign to those who stop up their ears and refuse to hear. .God mocking those who mock Him.

No outward sign for those who do hear prophecy .just a new desire to do the will of God coming from a new contrite heart.

Scripture proves scripture. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: We compare the spirit of the word to the same spirit of the word also called.... faith to faith.... the gospel

We I would offer need to look to the law and not the oral traditions as philosphcal therories of men that do make scripture without effect by there oral traditions.

For with stammering (mocking) lips and another tongue (other languages other than Hebrew alone) will he (not Peter) speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, (prophecy) ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.Isaiah 28: 11-14

There are so many things Jesus did that were not recorded in the scripture. His prayer was recorded because He was doing it for you, not for Himself. He did it for your instruction so that you equip yourself.

2 Tim 3:15 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16AllScripture is God-breathed and is useful forinstruction, for conviction, for correction, and fortraining in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.

Do i have a relationship with God? yes of course.

John 16: 23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 24Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

The word 'ask' as used in this passage has nothing to do with speech. It only means that prayer is a need not a speech. In that day (now is), you shall not need anything because your need shall be fulfilled.

How many times has this blasphemy card been played by you and others ? Nobody here is speaking against the Holy Spirit. You claim your tongue speaking to be a heavenly language. I don't believe your claim. How many languages are there in heaven ? Remember .. Paul said .. "the tongues (languages) of angels". Either Paul was speaking hyperbole to make a point or the various types of angels in heaven all speak a language different from one another. Does this make sense to you ?
People are saying that speaking in tongues is a nonsense. Remember that tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit and to defame the language of angels is to insult God because the Holy Spirit is God. Remember also that angels are God's messengers and men can be angels. The apostles were God's messengers or angels.

From where I am sitting, the things that are said sound very much like blasphemy, and blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin.

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11

you seem to have some kind of agenda

what you say is false. whatever spirit is telling you to be anti-prayer is deceiving you

One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God Luke 6:12

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up Luke 18:1

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God
Philippians 4:6

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful Colossians 4:2

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41

The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him Proverbs 15:8

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11

so you know, if you think we do not need to pray, take it up with God...but then I suppose you would have to pray to be able to do so

I'll let scripture be my final word. no one will make you pray, but the Bible has different instruction then do you
