The cross is the most important event in human history. Jesus paid for our sins with his life. We are no longer under the laws of sin and death. We live under Jesus laws of love. God has given us grace.
Sorry to cut in, but do you mean believers when you say "our", "we" and "us". One could easily mistake those to refer to the whole world, which I'm sure is not what you ment.

Some believe that Christ came to save the whole of humanity, if that were the case then He failed and I'm sure you wouldn't put your trust in a God who fails in anything.

It's only Calvinist who distort John 3:16. I know of no other sect of Christianity that distorts it. Jesus did come to save the whole of humanity because 'grace' is for everyone and covers all of mankind. It wasn't Jesus who failed, it's man who failed to recognize and accept him as savior.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Three words Calvinist distort in the passage.

WORLD, WHOSOEVER, and BELIEVETH. World in John 3:16 is...

'KOSMOS', and it certainly does mean the entire planet. It's a universal OFFER of salvation.

Whosoever means, "individually, each, every, any, all, the whole, everyone, all things, everything, collectively."

Believeth means, "to think to be true, to be persuaded of, to credit, place confidence in of the thing believed to credit, have confidence." The word "believeth" indicates it's up to the person to accept the grace God offers to making in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is man who fails to believe.

The Father GAVE His only begotten Son but the world does not receive or benefit from that love until it believes in Jesus, the gift that the Father gave.

Why distort such a pristine simple to understand verse? Oh, you believe the murderous heretic John Calvin, that explains it.

We believe that God only revealed the truth of the Gospel to His elect and it is foolishness to those who are perishing. We believe we have the truth and we believe that those who reject it are not saved. Nothing personal here, I'm just stating what we believe in the Reformed Church.

The ultimate aim of creation, of history, of salvation, of theology, of all that has been made and can be known is this: that the triune God would be magnified in the praise of the glory of his grace (Ephesians 1:3–6). For this reason, God elects saints to come to believe in his Son and so be made “holy and blameless before him” (Ephesians 1:4).
Thus, our understanding of God’s unconditional election begins and ends with the praise of God’s own infinite glory.

The biblical doctrine of election refuses to let our own comfort rule in place of God’s word. It is not a comfortable feeling to say at the same time, “God is totally sovereign” and, “Man is wholly responsible.” But this is the testimony of God’s word, and we cannot silence either truth in order to secure a theology which fits easily in our categories.

This is the truth that Calvinists love: a God who cannot be confined within the narrow limits of our human reason — a knowledge too wonderful for us, which we cannot attain (Psalm 139:6) unless God graciously reveals it to us, to the praise of his glorious grace.

I think the key that the gates of hell could never prevail against is in respect to the word many... a percentage of the whole or remnant of everything.

The whosoever that believes are given the power or authority in respect to faith of Christ which comes by hearing the Father. Faith, previously have none is the gift of God

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Predestination has issues. Nearly everyone will tell you it's a horrible contradiction. To say God determined beforehand who would or would not be saved makes God a respecter of persons, and contradicts John 3:16 and a slew of other verses. I see the doctrine as more of a misunderstanding than it is a contradiction.

Predestination also means God condemned people before even living or being judged. What good is the gospel then if it is only meant for a chosen few? What good is preaching the gospel to the entire world if the eternal fate of a person is already decided?

Predestination is the end result of being found a flawless adopted child of God by Jesus through his redemption. In His foreknowledge God knew even before the foundation of the world that it would need a Savior, predestination is attributed to Jesus Christ. The only way a person is "without blame" is by Jesus. The only way we can be adopted Children of God is by Jesus.

We are predestined because God sent His son to save the world. He knew who would and would not accept him, not because He 'chose' some for eternal salvation and some for eternal condemnation.

Predestination can't be God determining who is or is not saved. To say that contradicts far too many verses about salvation, fuels confusion and even fuels Atheism. It needs to be understood as God's foreknowledge of His redemptive plan in Jesus Christ.

We don't believe in this god you describe here, the God we believe in is in full control of everything.

The God you describe failed to accomplish what He set out to do, He tried to save the whole world but He failed miserably. Quite frankly, you can have the God all to your self. I will stick with the winner who never fails, who accomplishes everything He sets out to.

The God we believe in predestined human history from the start to the finish, nothing happens in Gods world by accident. You believe God created mankind and just let him loose and salvation is a lottery where some will believe and other reject, the God we believe in doesn't play games with the eternal destiny of His creation.

Jesus didn't say anything about it, because it was clear. They knew what happen to Sodom and Gomorrah. Jesus was with God when he made the decision to destroy it. They all knew.

Homosexuals are mentioned in the works of the flesh scriptures if you look at the meanings of the words in a concordance.

I am a Christian Saint of God, I am not a Calvinist. Calvin didn't die on the cross for me, he was a man who correctly proclaimed the truth of the Gospel. Sadly he is in the minority, the vast majority added their perverted view to the Gospel.

God deliberately hides the truth from everyone except for His elect, the rest will seek but they will never find because they are sealed for destruction. Most people hate God because He doesn't save everyone, only His elect love Him.

People like you divide the Church into Calvinists and Arminians. The Bible says we are either gathering or scattering, I perceive you are scattering. You suffer a double loss here, you lose the fellowship of the Saints of God and you have embraced a false Gospel which teaches you that you save yourself.

All I can do is plead with you to accept Gods Word as it is, and not to rely on your own wisdom to fill in the perceived blanks in the Gospel. I know it's hard to accept Gods Word as it is written and I know it makes God look unfair and an author of sin and all the rest of it. We are trying make God conform to our expectations while the Bible tells us that we should forsake our wisdom and allow Him to be God.

He hasn't failed if the offer of forgiveness and eternal salvation is made available to all...and it is.

It is not Christ's fault that some apply ......free will...... and elect not to repent, be baptized, live righteously and receive eternal salvation.

Just for clarity for those who teach salvation by works. Believers live according to God's commandments BECAUSE they have already received God's forgiveness by grace through faith and NOT in order to receive God's forgiveness by grace. You have it backwards.

1 John 2:3 - By this we know that we have come to know Him, (demonstrative evidence of having already come to know Him) if we "keep" (Greek word "tereo" - guard, observe, watch over) His commandments.

Romans 5:1 - Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

If you are doing anything in your own flesh(works) you are denying Christ. Or job as believers is to trust in Christ and be led to DO by him.

That is s different point being spun in attempt to apply too the point in this thread......doesn't work.

Knowing Him and keeping His word is different.
Being justified doesn't fit when we sin....sacrifice for sin forgiveness is not available when sin is present.

Yes Christs atonement was sufficient to save the whole world, but only the elect of God choose to believe because they have the gift of faith which enables them to believe the Gospel when they hear it.

God didn't give that gift to everyone, all of those who don't have the gift of faith will go to the grave rejecting the Gospel so they are lost and it's impossible to convince one of them to believe the Gospel.

Only those who God preordained and elected will believe, the rest will never. There were many of these (unbelievers) or reprobate who saw Jesus perform miracles and they heard Him preaching and they witnessed Him return for the dead and they still didn't believe, because they were not the elect of God.

My family is Roman Catholic, I have been sharing the Gospel with them and pleading with them to repent and give their lives to Christ but they all reject the Gospel and they refuse to accept Christ as the Lord of their lives. They "believe in Jesus" just as the Demons do, but they don't tremble.

The Catholic Jesus allows everyone to live their lives the way they see fit, as long as they try to be good and confess their sins when they become a burden. He doesn't demand much from those who believe in Him, He only asks them to try their best and that will be enough to make your stay in purgatory short.

The Bible tells us that we can never convince the reprobate to accept the Gospel, only Gods elect will.
