I thought this was intersting :

1.) You believe showing up for worship every Sunday makes you right with God.
2.) You spend more time talking about what you are against, not what you are for.
3.) You believe God actually needs you.
4.) You don’t repent of sin…you don’t have any “serious” sin to repent of. ( hesrd this more than once )
5.) You make every issue black and white.
6.) You would never condone homosexuality or fornication…but have no problem watching movies that do.
7.) Your salvation is based on your works, not on Jesus.
8.) You read the Bible to substantiate your convictions, not to be shaped into God’s image.
9.) You believe outsiders should conform to a certain lifestyle before they are accepted as “Christian.”
10.) You don’t know the difference between a convert and a transfer.
11.) All of your Christian friends look and act just like you do.
12.) If someone tries to rebuke you, you get angry and offended.

Modern-day Pharisees aren’t receptive to rebuke. It undermines their external righteousness.

We could add a few......

13. They teach for the commandments of God the traditions, rigmarole and "church" laws of man and or religious fanatics
14. They would rather have a murderous thief in their "church" than JESUS
15. They are most definitely better than their neighbor
16. If they do not have a three piece suit for worship and or poor they have nothing to offer their "church"
17. They do not allow sinners to come to worship God and have their noses so high in the air they bleed

etc......

I would add another.(my favorite) They say we must have a man seen to teach making the true teaching authority as the treasure that abides in us without effect so that men can rather serve that seen the temporal and not that not seen (Christ the eternal) )

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

1 John 2:26-27 King James Version (KJV)These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Well I do not know where you obtained the list but I would like to have you provide scripture relative to each point.

Is a Pharisee the same as a legalist? I do not relate Pharisee to Gentiles but see it as a Jewish term.

For the cause of Christ

well you just have to read the Bible. Start at Matt 23 Jesus is speaking read it the NLT that way you will get the full effect. If you will not hear Jesus no other scripture will matter to you. As it did not with the Pharieeses in Matt. 23.

lol it's humorous...
Meh, just seems like mockery. If I was a "Pharisee" this wouldn't change me in the slightest, might offend me, and even alienate me. What good comes out of it? I'm not trying to take it so seriously, but its at their expense, and for what? A chuckle? Meh.

think about that for a moment mockery . then read Matthew 23 and remember the Lord is Speaking , and ask if Jesus was mocking or speaking the truth. Then look at the list of the 12 provided and are they true or not.

Thank you

Well it's not a bad idea to know what's happening around us, I do think there are modern day Pharisees.

7.) Your salvation is based on your works, not on Jesus.
Why are they mutually exclusive? Do the goats get sent to the eternal fire for not believing in Him or for not having works? Did the rich man get sent to the place of torture for not believing in Jesus or for having enjoyed his riches without caring for other people (Lazarus)'s sufferings? Did the Samaritan help the robbed man because he believed in Jesus or because he listened to the kindness placed by God in his heart? Did Jesus not tell the rich young man that, in order to be perfect, he has to keep the commandments, sell his possessions, give the money to the poor and follow Him? Did Jesus tell him to only follow him? No. The part about helping others (works) is important.

Well, for one you aren't Jesus. :D Secondly, do you believe your goal here, in this post, was the same as Jesus'? You aren't correcting Pharisees here, you may be exposing them however. Honestly CS1, what was your goal here? Consider that people's reception of it is "humorous", and that may be as deep as it goes.

Hate to rain on your parade, but yeah. Its not really all that important, so I won't keep hounding you over it.

Well it's not a bad idea to know what's happening around us, I do think there are modern day Pharisees.
This is true, and I wouldn't deny it. I didn't get a feeling this was for that purpose though. Also, do we honestly believe a Legalist or Pharisee would read this and be like, "Yes! Thats me." or anything like that? It seems to me to be more aimed at the choir.

you have cart before the horse .

if one is saved, they will produce good works of Christ because Christ has changed them. anyone can do a good deed but they do it for many reasons . The motivation of one who is saved to do a good deed is out of love for God. I do what Jesus said to do because I love Him and He loves me. No amount of good works can repay what Jesus did on the Cross for me. You too are taking the word of God out of Context.

well honestly you do not need to be rude your comment " for one you arent' Jesus" was uncalled for. 2. did you read matthew 23 ? I do not think Jesus ever mocked anyone and the text I asked you to read Jesus was very much speaking to the Pharieeses. The 12 I posted were not mine as I said I found them intersting. You as others here like to build false narrtitives. You can't rain on anything I do :) or say, I do not hold you as one of authority concerning my post, nor do I need your approval . That is why I do not respond to your post very much. Thank you

and God bless.

You see, I was trying to be funny not rude. :p Its all good CS1. I don't know about that false narratives comment though, maybe that was uncalled for. Like I said, I won't hound you over it. Also, thats a shame that you intentionally don't respond to my posts.
