First thing you need to get right is that the Founding Fathers put in the 2nd Amendment SO THAT we (the people) would have the ability to defend ourselves against an overbearing, aggressive, Government. IF ONLY the Government has weapons, then you can truly say you live in a Communist State. After their experiences with King George, the Founding Fathers were NOT going to allow the Government to EVER take away the citizens right to keep and bear arms. Good for them.

As for "self-family" defense:

Luke 22:35) And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36) Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

So, if you have a problem with me/others believing we have the right to keep and bear arms in order to protect ourselves and/or our family........take it up with Jesus.
For the life of me... I have not read one scripture of Jesus raising arms. Literally all the Apostles were murdered. Almost every person I know owns a gun.The Dems are only trying to take the guns out of the hands of convicted criminals and the "no fly list" the very people that you are protecting yourself from. the irony of life, huh...

Believer in what, Killing? Conservatives strongest arguments were that you liked huntin! Not so anymore?
Your obvious bias prevents you from seeing the truth and the context of "believers" was clear....
Not to mention the bible makes it clear by the verbiage and context there is a difference between killing and murder, but I fully expect you to reject this truth as well.....

Why should people be denied the right to defend themselves?

John, who called himself the apostle that Jesus loved, died a natural death. He died of old age; he was not martyred or murdered.
Also, the Apostles were persecuted and murdered for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

HUGE difference between that and allowing a criminal to break into your house to steal and rape. Where is the Biblical restriction against defending your home and family?

There is none that I know of, but on the other hand, "thou shalt not covet" and "thou shalt not steal" come to mind. People who steal from you are coveting your possessions. Double whammy.

I don't know how I could live with myself if I allowed someone to break into my house and kill my family while I stood back and did nothing. Maybe I should offer him a glass of water? Would that be the Christian thing to do? Man! God didn't call us to be milquetoast pacifists. We are to defend out loved ones, and not necessarily only them.

So you are truly against every person that are against guns? I can't gauge. But I'm pretty certain that most people on this site are against guns or violence...
That's quite a leap you made there, grasshopper....

I'm not "against" someone who doesn't like guns, that's their prerogative. But, if a person uses the bully pulpit of stardom, or other notoriety, to rail against the private ownership of firearms, while making millions of dollars in films that glorify both the frivolous and gratuitous use of firearms, then I have no use for them whatsoever.

And, you'd be wrong to think that "most" people on this site are "against guns". Violence, sure.... but guns and violence do not go hand in hand, any more than violence and baseball bats do.

I am sorry, obviously you or someone you know has been invaded. I don't know of anyone personally that this has happened to. As of late I don't live in the best of neighborhoods. But I practice my due diligence , lock my doors, and keep a bat at my front door...
do you play baseball in your house? Or is the bat there for more, um.... violent reasons?

Not to derail the thread, but is there any person, man or woman, that ain’t never, on no occasion, is being no hypocrite?

Oh, and just to weigh in on that gun thing. I have more than one gun myself, but I don’t understand this pro gun/anti gun thing. What’s the big deal about owning a gun or four?
There are people that do not want anyone to be able to own firearms. They either want to control you, or they are afraid of you. They think that guns kill people, simply by being.

Those people are known as "hoplophobes" a word coined by the late Col Jeff Cooper. People terrified of an inanimate object.

And, yes, we are all hypocritical at one time or another. I freely admit to hypocrisy in some of my beliefs... but that's a different story.

Can you clarify that rather random, strange statement? I don't get your drift....

I hav'nt played baseball since college. The bat is there as a deterrent. has served me well. my point being is that I don't feel that our nation is in such a state that we all have to possess a military weapon.

Citizens having the right to have guns under the American Consititution is also a measure of deterrence, it is a deterrent against the government attempting to gain absolute control over its citizens.

Do you really think that Trumps ignorant attempt at dictatorship of this magnificent, majestic countries democracy constitutes another civil war? Don't worry, by the grace of God we have caring and intelligent people in office that will never let this occur...

Today yes, but it is not certain what tomorrow will bring.

You really need to inform yourself about the how your civil liberties have been eroded post 9/11.

It is really just a matter of time.

The threat is not only from the government but also from outside of the government, there are many rich powerful people working to destabilize the government and society as well.

This is exactly what I am talking about. people on the "no fly list" are able to purchase weapons ...

I fully understand That God's commandment was not to murder. I do comprehend the difference...
