Mr Quantrill,

I can understand how you can want to secede, but it’s not a good idea in my opinion. We need to stand united, don’t you think?

What I feel bad about is when folks are rubbing their victory in. There’s no need to, we know that the South lost, but let us all, as Americans, show each other that we now are brothers and sisters, not enemies.

That goes for all of us. Both sides of the aisle.
Like it or not, Jennie-Mae, we are not united now. Do you understand the form of secession I have suggested.

The things which divide us are too great to overcome. Wishing for a unity where we all call each other brother or sister is a pipe dream.
What are you going to unify around? The American flag? The liberal, atheistic, left, burn them all the time. Is that your brother and sister. How about our freedom of speech and expression? That only leads to more division. So, what are you wanting to base this unity on now?

The only retarded amendment, was enacted freely by the states, long after reconstruction. That would be the 16th and 17th amendments.

After the civil war and just before he died Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, wanted to bind the nation's wounds. Yes, united we stand, divided we fall. Martin Luther King said that we either have to learn to live together as brothers and sisters, or perish together as fools. That was a statement of truth that merits considerable attention and consideration. "Can't we all get along?...." another asked. The answer remains unknown but I remain optimistic.

You need to stop digging a hole for yourself. One lie creates another. The reconstruction amendments were forced on the South after the military defeat. It was not due to the participation of the 'glorious union'.

Quantrill
what does that have to do whether the north hated and wanted to trash the constitution ((as garrison did))?

Actually I don't totally disagree that this country may well be too divided on too many polarizing issues to remain intact. It may be the only way to avoid another civil war

You don't know because you keep presenting things I never said.

Quantrill
Well I do know you are redefining secession.

Latin secessio(n-), from secedere ‘go apart’ (see secede).

The answer is not unknown. No, we can't all get along when we have such divisions amongst the people. Your optimism is a pipe dream. You love to procalim 'united we stand divided we fall'. Sounds so good. Brings a tear to the eye. But you have to have something to unify around. What do you purpose?

It has everything to do with what you claimed, You claimed the 13 amendment was a product of the union. But that is a lie. It was the product of military victory and forced acceptance.

If the north loved the Constitution, then why did they change it after the war? Answer: because they hated the Constitution until they changed it to fit their desires.

The north hated the Constitution. The South was not the law breakers. The north was. But because the north won the military victory, we, the South, are the 'traitors'. See how that works.

Gee thanks. But guess what. I am going to stay here. Come hell or high water. Seen both already. If that bothers you...you are free to emigrate wherever you like.

What you need to do is just read what I have said and not follow someone like posthuman who doesn't know what he is talking about.

You're exactly right. The issues that divide, you can neither build a bridge to accommodate, nor expect the other to give ground. Neither side will.

My response is that a happy wife is a happy life and anything beyond that becomes problematic. There will be no peace and unity on earth until the day that Jesus returns but that we should continue to fight the good fight until that happens. I believe that the united and fall statement is based on scripture but I believe it to be true. You must also believe this or this thread you started is pointless.

And that is a lie.

So, you a Canadian go ahead and tell me what America is based on?

Quantrill
I believe that this member actually now resides in the US but I could be wrong. How does being a Canadian disqualify one from offering an informed opinion on what America is based on? There was some guy from France that once wrote about life in America that was well received at the time. Maybe it was all some sort of personal pipe dream of his.

while i agree no one should follow me i am quite sure UG was already involved expressing independent opinions.
in this thread before i arrived

on that note, i don't think anyone should follow UG either, and i don't think anyone should follow Q, or anyone else but Christ. and Christ didn't overthrow any governments as a man, nor did He recommend or incite political revolution. His disciples did quite the opposite, and as i was mentioning earlier about the history of abolition, change was still effected in cultural more and norm but beginning in the hearts of individuals, not by martial force or by human legislation.
