As a single how do you keep from feeling down?

Just thought maybe someone could give some good advice, counsel (Proverbs 11:14), on how to stay upbeat when you are feeling down especially when you are feeling lonely. Yes, I know God could help me find that special someone, but than again maybe He won't.
But one things for sure, hanging my head down like a scolded dog, is not going to help me attract any woman.

So any good advice on how to stay upbeat would be must appreciated.

Being alone is a frame of mind. Yes a people we feel lonleness but we are never truly alone. We have family, friends pets...ect... I felt that way for a LONG time until i finally relize why I was alone. God has a person for everyboy but not everyone is met to be in relationships right away. God might be getting you ready for someone. Also think if you are truly ready for some one. Can you finachially suppport your self and another human. Are you mentally ready. Have you put away childish things and thinking?es are thiungs that need to be prayed about and talked to God about.

I struggle with the same issue. One thing that has helped me is CC. Being able to come on here and talk about it to other people has helped even if people do not seem to give good advice, at least i am ab;le to talk it out and know I am not alone in this singleness struggle.

I just remind myself how people in relationships are unhappy and wish to be free again. Sure everything is great in the beginning but once the novelty wears off people start taking each other for granted and its all downhill from there.

Well yeah, sure that happens sometimes. I like to think that when I finally get a man we will become great friends first and then enter into a romantic relationship. I think thats key. When you are good friends there is not much novelty to begin with. You are two people with genuine interest in every aspect of esch others lives, you build on that love for each others well being and overall happiness...

Says the woman that has never had a serious relationship. But maybe if more people looked at relationships the way I do then they could find true companionship.

I go read the Marriage and Family forums on the internet and then wear this expression: :eek: and be thankful I'm not in their shoes.

Then I walk around on the beach when the sun is setting and I mock all the couples for being all wuvy dovey.

I think about all the things that being Married or engaged would mean that I couldn't do.

Its much easier to travel great distances with just yourself. You don't have to worry about what your significant other is thinking you are doing. You don't have to be worried about people worrying about where you were for long periods of time. You can get a passport and disappear if you want to. You can eat morning after pizza and Ramen for breakfast, cause its not like you are trying to live with or for anyone else. You can say hello to the really pretty/handsome people you meet and not worry about what someone else would think. You can shop for the clothes that you like without being criticized. You can buy that ridiculous thing that you have always wanted but, could justify to anyone you were involved with. (see: Catapult/Flamethrower/Convertible) Its your music, listen to it when how and where you want to, as loud as you want. Drive fast, you're not scaring anyone anymore. Workout more, because you are the only one who has to live with you for the rest of your life, might as well look good. And Finally Pray more about other stuff, because life is too short to get hung up on all the people who didn't want to spend it with you.

In honest for me what made things better was letting go of the idea of finding someone. Yes I want to get married and wish to find someone but I had to let that idea go for know and be happy that if this is my life forever than thats okay that God is enough for me. Its hard I felt the same as you and felt that I was not complete unless I found someone. Now that I have let it go I am not only happy but have learnt to use my time better read more of the bible study the bible more, and now I even got this new dedication to working out, with all that plus work I have no time to worry about a boyfriend no time.

I am a widow and I can get very down and lonely... I always " Praise God" when i am down in my spirit,,,,,,,, the spirit of praise will lift the burdons ......... sometimes I forget the goodness of God when i am in my saddened state........ God will not leave us comfortless. He will comfort us. " Seek Ye The Lord" He is nigh to the brokenhearted............. I do know how you feel........ There is a lot of us out there. Soon and Very Soon we shall see the King !!

it's all about your attitude....you need to focus on God and be fully and completely satisfied in Him alone before a relationship will be right or u will be ready for it.

How do i stay upbeat..... well usually i do interprative dance to willy nelson songs. but lately i have been talking to vagabond, hes usually so boring i dont need to stay upbeat cause im asleep.

Dear Forgiven,

#1 Stay strong in your faith, you are NEVER alone you have the blood of Christ as your salvation and secondly all of us are here to help support you.

#2 My approach is simple keep your relationship with GOD your top priority and take action within your own life to achieve these goals.

#3 To help keep you from hanging your head just think of this chapter in your life like a fitness regimen you need to build back up your self esteem.

#4 How do you do #3? You have to be painfully honest with yourself about what you want for yourself (Religiously, Emotionally, Socially, etc.) then you decide what actions you are willing to take to get to this place in your life.

#5 Let GOD take care of the rest.
