The Law was fulfilled at the Death of Christ on the cross.

The Power of the Gospel was shown at the Resurrection of Christ.
Matt. 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." This is not saying each point will be fulfilled separately, no element shall pass away until ALL be fulfilled.

The Law is not set aside until each individual person is given rest by coming to Christ.

You can't just tell someone that the law has been set aside at some certain point in history because each person is under law until they come to faith in Christ.

Heb. 4:9-11 "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."

The Christian rest is the millennial Kingdom of God. Until then we still labor. Grace has removed the curse of the law. :cool:

The spirit of the law is contained within the law as stated on the stone tablets.
Were the Ten Commandments engraved in letters on stone?

2 Corinthians 3:6-11
He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the Ten Commandments were engraved in letters on stone, this scriptures says that they are the transitory ministry that brought death and condemnation, which has no glory now. Other than that, pretty awesome.
Do you define "under the law" as being under the condemnation of the law?
If so, I do not agree with that definition. There are two scripotures that confirm this for me.
Here is one of them. Why would anyone WANT to be under the condemnation of the law?
Galatians 4:21
Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says?
Hey! Sketch... : )
Let me agree with you, who would want to go back to keeping the law when we have the Spirit? But if one does:
Gal 5: 4 "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."
The New Covenant supercedes the Old covenant, even though they run concurrently until this heaven and earth pass away. So that if one departs from faith in Jesus, to keeping the law for their righteousness; will bring the curse of death for any sins committed after departing from the faith; because grace gives its forgiveness forever for those sins put under the blood, continuing on even after one departs from the faith. Their sins after departing the faith are no longer forgiven without faith by, for one; to stop obeying the holy commandment, 1 Jn 3;24, given to each of us along with our faith; by Jesus when we first believed: like in 1 Tim 4:1 "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils."
Just to be clear, the holy commandment in 1 Jn 3: 19-24; vs 23 "And this is his commandment, that we should believe upon the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment."
Being under the law is when:
One who keeps the law and escape its curse.
Before... until... until... Now...
Galatians 3:23-25
Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law,
locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.
So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith.
Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

When was the law put aside?
Take your pick. See the list of evidence below.

Question: When was the law put aside?

Answer:

- The law was put aside when John the Baptist arrived.

- The law was put aside when Christ arrived.

- The law was put aside at the Baptism of Christ.

- The law was put aside in the Sermon on the Mount.

- The law was put aside when Jesus was challenged by the religious leaders.

- The law was put aside when Jesus challenged the religious leaders.

- The law was put aside when God directed Jesus to do the work of healing on the Sabbath.

- The law was put aside when Jesus spoke to the Rich Young Ruler.

- The law was put aside at the Transfiguration of Christ.

- The law was put aside at the Death of Christ.

- The law was put aside at the Resurrection of Christ.

- The law was put aside on the road to Damascus.

- The law was put aside when Jesus commanded, or condoned acts of Sabbath-breaking.
I would say the law was made perfect at the crosss. The "law of faith" as to the spiritual understanding. looking to the things unseen the eternal using the temporal as that seen. The formula for parables

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.Romans 1:19-21

Thanks for your reply.

What is the difference between the law being fulfilled and the law being set aside?
The Bible seems to say something different than what you are saying in that regard.
I would offer, the letter of the law that kills.It was made complete or prefect by the spirit of the law. the law of faith The letter of the law has its place even for a believer. It can send a believer home prematurely.

A spirit that tells people to tell the Holy Spirit it may not speak to them about how to live, it may not repeat any directions God gives is not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is of God and never disagrees with scripture.

Some folks think that Yeshua ended the laws of Moses. His message is in fact ultra-conservative to those who wish to hear it. It was a fulfillment of their Law and then more. In this day and age, Yeshua does not concede the point. It is us who fall short.

Has the Law been put aside?

No. The Law and the curse of the Law have not been put aside.

However, Yeshua/Jesus fulfilled BOTH in His human body for us that believe in Him, love Him and receive by faith with thanksgiving ALL He did for us. :love::love:

Receiving His Righteousness for us is to receive the human fulfillment of the Law in His Body which is the Bread - which we partake of and remember what He has done for us.

Receiving His Blood for us is the human fulfillment of the curse of the Law which is death. We partake of this too when we drink the cup He offers us for the forgiveness of our sins.

So, “in Christ” the Law and curse of the Law is appeased- not done away with but, satisfied or fulfilled.

Anyone (Jew or Gentile) without Yeshua/Jesus is still under the Law and the curse of the Law..

Just a side note, Jesus also fulfilled all that the prophets had spoken about the Messiah. :love:

I totally agree, the blood of Jesus on the cross fulfilled all the prophecies and all that God told all people.

What happened to all the people who lived the 4,000 years before Jesus? Because Jesus had not lived as a man yet, did they all face eternal death?

If God was inactive during the time the OT speaks of then what about creation, the psalms, what happened when God freed people who were slaves in Egypt, etc?

I have been told the law is dead, that the seventh day as God created it is no more, and even Passover is replaced by a day not spoken of in scripture. Is this so?

Great questions, Blik! 😃👍

It has dumbfounded people, what about all those that lived and died BEFORE Christ?!!! Are they okay? Can they be saved?!!!

I say YES! Because the only thing that holds us to this planet Earth is our physical body, but our souls can exist in other dimensions. It is our soul that is in the balance and needs saving.

Jesus (The Word) came to this planet and became flesh. It is God’s plan to awaken and empower our spirit, save and restore our souls and redeem our bodies. We’re all being reconciled back to the Father. It’s a process and a journey.

Enjoy your journey. God bless. 😍👍

I'd look to Romans 3:20 where we're told the law existed to make us aware of our sins. Scripture also tells us no one can keep the law perfectly.
The Mitzvah, 613 laws of God, were divided into 3 parts for observance by the Jews.
Today the law of God is written on and within the heart of the believer in Christ. That law isn't the old testament re-drafted to omit observances pre-messiah. Rather, the law that is within our hearts is the giver of that Mitzvah; God.
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13:34

The Bible seems to say something different than what you are saying in that regard.
The Law being fulfilled means that Provision is provided for All of Gods People to be under Grace and not under Law.

The Law being set aside means that the law has been done away at a certain point in history and it is merely an intellectual acknowledgement that determines if someone is under the law or not.

I'd be interested in your interpretation of why you think the bible says something different. I will show you that it doesn't.

Matt. 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." This is not saying each point will be fulfilled separately, no element shall pass away until ALL be fulfilled.

:cool:
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The Lord said He came to fulfill the Law. Are you trying to imply that He failed?

If that is the case then you are under every jot and every tittle of the law.

There can be no curse lifted from the Law UNLESS it has been fulfilled.

The Christian Rest is coming to Christ and being GIVEN Grace and being Delivered from the Law and its curse. Right Now.

After coming to Christ so the power of Christ works in a life for forgiveness of sin and receiving the Holy Spirit. Sin does not cause death when sin is taken to Christ with repentance so it is forgiven.

A spirit that tells people to tell the Holy Spirit it may not speak to them about how to live, it may not repeat any directions God gives is not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is of God and never disagrees with scripture.
2 Corinthians 3:6-9
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

It is clear that the Ministration of Death and Condemnation IS NOT instruction on how to live. It is for those who have not yet come to faith in Christ.

Once a person comes to faith in Christ they have a new Teacher. That teacher is the Holy Spirit and not the Ministration of Death written on stones.

The Law is NOT the Holy Spirit.
