Romans 6:16
Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death, or of obedience unto justice.
Works-salvationists ignore "servants of obedience unto righteousness" (Romans 6:16) and simply stress "obedience unto righteousness" as if works of obedience which follow saving faith in Christ are unto righteousness, as if we are saved by works.

There is a contrast here between servants/slaves. There are only two kinds of servants/slaves in this world, in the spiritual sense; servants/slaves of sin unto death, or servants/slaves of obedience unto righteousness.

When we place our faith exclusively in Christ for salvation/believe the gospel by trusting in His finished work of redemption as the all sufficient means of our salvation, we then become "servants of obedience unto righteousness.”

Romans 6:18 - "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves of righteousness."

Notice in Romans 10:10 - For with the heart one believes unto righteousness..

Notice in Romans 4:5 - But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith (not works) is accounted for righteousness.

AMEN....I followed suit with EG.....not going to waste my time with a Cainologist that cuts and pastes the whole bible out of context to prove that which it does not teach.........

In regards to Romans 1:5, although Paul can speak of people’s initial response of choosing to believe the gospel as an act of obedience, in which he describes it as "obeying the gospel" (Romans 10:16; 1:16), the purpose of Paul’s apostleship was not merely to bring people to conversion but also to bring about transformed lives that were obedient to God.

*Notice that Paul said they HAVE (already) received grace and apostleship FOR/UNTO obedience to the faith. Just as in Ephesians 2:10, Paul said that we are created in Christ Jesus FOR/UNTO good works. We are clearly saved FORgood works, NOT BY good works (Ephesians 2:8-10). Paul did not say that they did not receive grace and apostleship until they produced obedience afterwards.

We have access by faith into grace.. Romans 5:2 not faith "and obedience/works." We are saved through faith in Christ first, then "unto" obedience/works.
AMEN brother........more solid truth in this post.....

I say we all put J70x7 on our Permanent IGNORE List, then ONLY HE will see his Posts, and probably pat himself on the back. He has Shown NO INTEREST is discussing Anything, he refuses to answer questions, which is just plain RUDE. All he does is just POST Verses that we all Know. AND I MEAN ON, and On, and ON.

I am going to put this one on my Permanent IGNORE LIST, and invite everyone else to do so too.

If you do not know how, just hover over his AVATAR, and on the bottom line you will see the IGNORE button, click it,
then refresh the Site.
Bye, bye J70x7

Hi VCO, I just read your post and as I did 70x7 added another post with no context.

Hi 70x7, you need to add a context to your bible verses.

Thank you and God bless!

Hi 70x7, without a context to your post how can we know what you are trying to say. Here is the best definition of a "Context" that I could find. I see you just posted another bible verse and without a context how can we respond to your bible verse.

Definition of Context: Context is the background, environment, setting, framework, or surroundings of events or occurrences. Simply, context means circumstances forming a background of an event, idea or statement, in such a way as to enable readers to understand the narrative or a literary piece.

OOh! This guy only answering in verses (even Jesus didn't exclusively talk from just the Scriptures) reminds of this really cool app my friend showed me.

If you take a picture of ANYTHING the app uses the pic as the basis for a corresponding Bible verse or 2.

We took a pic of our fire in the fireplace, for instance, and verse about fire came up. I pretended to punch my friend and a verse came up about the need for brotherly love.

I do not think he is listening, Alot have asked him the same thing, he ignores them. I suggest we all ignore him maybe he will get the picture. And maybe then actually talk.. Not just cut and past verses with no context

Hi 70x7, you are doing better now that you have addressed me personally in your post. This verse is saying that Christians should continue in genuine brotherly love. Thank you and please apply your next post to someone who is new so that we can all join in your dialog.

God bless!

you have a genuine love for your brothers,
φιλαδελφίαν (philadelphian)
Noun - Accusative Feminine Singular
Strong's Greek 5360: Brotherly love, love of Christian brethren. From philadelphos; fraternal affection.
Let brotherly love continue. Φιλαδελφία does not mean general philanthropy, but the peculiar love of Christians to each other as brethren;

Okay and thank you E-g, I was beginning to think that 70x7 did not understand how to have a "dialog" on a Christian forum. I realize that is possibly a mistake on my part.
