You will be fine with learning and writing the most correct Dutch ever. Vlaams makes me thinking of pancakes, it is a very flat flat language, I beleive. And besides, once learned you can teach him more how to speak the right Dutch as well! ;) :D

Ah yeah, that is very wise! That way you can make him confuse most norwegians since he will have no pure norwegian dialect over him when speaking it. :D
