Fox News is just a right wing propaganda machine. They admitted in court that they make up stories for entertainment when they were being sued for defamation.

Your welcome... by fighting for and defending our countries freedoms and posting here - I have afforded you the opportunity to express yourself via your 'freedom of speech.' I actually respect your opinion and I can actually understand and appreciate your perspective.
In fact I'm proud to have contributed to the rights of a country that ensures its people are afforded a right to protest...

What I admire about what the 'Nine-Line' Veteran run organization has done - is that they have respected everyone's right to protest, and instead of exercising their right to publicly counter-protest (which ironically would merely upset those of differing opinions to no end); they have taken the high road in spectacular fashion...

I hate the narrative that exercising your first amendment rights to protest means you don't love your country. That's absolutely absurd.
Jehovah's Witnesses don't stand for the anthem either because they Call it idolatry. Actually I'm inclined to agree with them there.
Actually I was discussing this with a buddy of mine who served in Afghanistan and he said if you think people should be forced to stand for the anthem then you don't understand what Freedom means

Ya, I agree, I don't like the idea of 'forcing people to stand' either...
(BTW this was not mentioned in this thread)...
Albiet, it saddens me to see middle school kids not standing during the national anthem...
I'm also not a believer that people 'don't love their country' just because they choose t exercise their right to protest...
(this wasn't mentioned here either)...
My silver lining remedy for dealing with people who do not understand how offensive their actions are to veterans and their families is simply to tune them out:
I've exercised my right to NOT watch a single regular season NFL game over the past three years... Instead I've found other more productive/fruitful ways of spending my time and money...

When our NFL teams go across the pond and play in England they stand there for the anthem. The country our forefathers left so as to establish this country and rich spoiled ungrateful NFL players respect their anthem. But not their own.
I was a huge football fan before the cowardice displayed by players, owners, and coaches as they followed an anti-American Muslim in his disrespect for this country. Never again will I watch a game.

I think singing anthems at sporting events, wearing poppies at sporting events,
and all the various other things at sporting events. Is dumb or stupid.
Most sportsman couldn’t give two figs about wearing poppies or respecting
the National anthem. They just want to win and earn millions. The fans just
want to prove their side is better than the other guys.
I’m sure there are far more appropriate events to show respect at.

Feel what you want. It isn't an idol. And if you think that way then you should condemn the NFL players that worship the "idol" of other nations when they play football there.
Football should not be politicized. It's a game. Not a platform for political angst. If a player feels policy should change they should take their money and lobby for that. Not take a knee on a football field during an anthem intending to show disrespect for the nation itself.
Besides the idiocy of that display K. and his followers apparently aren't aware viewers can take it to mean they're taking a knee in prayer during the anthem. Praying for the country during the anthem that salutes it.

While off the field put their money where their political animus is. But that's too costly. Taking a knee is cheap. In more ways than just the cash savings.
I have no problem with players taking a knee. They have the right to push their cause however they please. They must also face the consequences if that makes them unpopular with fans or the league. It’s just a silly sporting event anyway.

I read people say they love this country but.... But revokes their previous positive affirmation. Ergo, they don't love this country. Your evidence of that is that you don't respect the electoral process. That's too bad. Wait till 2020 when it happens again.

The slave excuse always pops when people have no better argument. Read the Bible. Slavery was approved by God. And Jews were allowed to own slaves as long as they weren't members of their same tribe.

And veterans are none too fond of the anthem being disrespected. Some think its OK as a sign of freedom. Others not so much. Anyone who's all for freedom shouldn't carp about people being free to object to peoples disrespect of our country, our flag, and or our anthem.

I love my country asuch as the next man. It’s certainly a blessing to be born in a country that allows us the freedoms late out in the constitution but I think we’d be wrong to not view our country as we view ourselves. Born broken and lost and in need of redemption
