Come on DC.

let's get real.
Wake up and the smell the coffee (with all the creamer and sugar)

We all know that God in the flesh came to earth after Adam and Eve messed up.
He said it in Genesis.

He did great things, did not sin.
He talked about the heart.
If memory serves me he said something about being clean on the inside.

So after all the great things he did he decided to go back to the Father.
As he went back he turned round and looked at his followers and says.

"Ok chaps, I've shown you how its to be done go ahead and do it"

That big wooden cross I do not need to hang on.
Phew I'm thankful for that because it would have hurt me.

So now I've shown you the way to do.
Be sinless, live exactly as I have loved.
So do all these things and you will be saved.
Oh by the way "Good luck with that"

And that's the truth "Good luck with that"

For those who believe that works save us.
Yet they negate the inner person.
The person who our Father wants a relationship with.
Just like with Adam & Eve.

You know I'm joshing with you for the above.

We know what Jesus did and did on our behalf.

Matthew 27:46-51
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!” 48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.
49 The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.”
50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

Jesus saves us, not ourselves.

If we could then there would be no reason for the pain he suffered on the cross.
Not just the physical pain but the "my god my father where are you?

Temple curtain torn in two.
Full access to the throne of God, by faith that has justified us
Bill waxes facetious hahhaahahha

Words straight from the written word of God.
How can anyone deny God's word??

Colossians 3:23

Colossians 3:23 (HCSB)
23 Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men,

YES, but that IS what YOU out of LOVE FOR HIM, actually DO after HE has SAVED YOU, the moment You genuinely BELIEVED.

The workers for, salvation losers, Cainologists and Pharisees deny God's word daily.....!!
Will your disobedience save you?

Do you not DENY GOD for being disobedient?

Will God not DENY you for DENYING Him thru your disobedience?

What does the bible say contrary to your own teachings?

... “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever DISOWNS(DENY) me before men, I will DISOWN(DENY) him before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33

... They claim to know God, but BY THEIR ACTIONS THEY DENY HIM. They are detestable, DISOBEDIENT and unfit for doing anything good. Titus 1:16

...For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into A LICENSE FOR IMMORALITY and DENY JESUS CHRIST our only Sovereign and Lord. Jude 1:4

...But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, EVEN DENYING THE SOVEREIGN LORD who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
MANY WILL FOLLOW THEIR SHAMEFUL WAYS and will bring the WAY OF TRUTH into disrepute. 2 Peter 2:1-2

.. having a form of godliness but DENYING IT'S POWER. Have nothing to do with them. 2 Timothy 3:5

Did He warn you about disobedience?

...Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. Ephesians 5:6-7

...Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Revelation 3:2-3

... See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him WHO WARNS US FROM HEAVEN? Hebrews 12:25

I see the Seoche still blindly assumes many things....ignorantly I might add.......more failed accusations from a Cainologist that must help his god get him thru the finish line....

Not the Jesus of the bible....he saves eternally and instantly by faith and faith alone....NO WORKS NEEDED to gain eternal salvation!

...“No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:43-45

...for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 5:24

... Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:32

" ...IF YOU WANT TO ENTER LIFE, OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS..." Matthew 19:16-30

...Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. HE WHO DOES NOT LOVE ME WILL NOT OBEY MY TEACHING. (those who do not love God, hate Him and are His enemies who SOW bad seeds) These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. John 14:21-24

... “As for the person who hears my words but DOES NOT KEEP THEM, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for THE ONE WHO REJECTS ME and DOES NOT ACCEPT MY WORDS; that very word which I spoke WILL CONDEMN HIM AT THE LAST DAY. For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I KNOW THAT HIS COMMAND LEADS TO ETERNAL LIFE. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” John 12:47-50

...Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature WILL REAP DESTRUCTION; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit WILL REAP ETERNAL LIFE. Galatians 6:7-8

Sorry the bible does not teach the above.....the Greek verbs employed and applied unto salvation teach a present continuing result from a past completed action....

a. Was saved the second I believed
b. Am saved right now
c. Continuing to be saved into the future

IT IS all CHRIST after initial belief...he saves us to the uttermost, we are kept by his power through the faith he begins, finishes and completes, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise and we are given ETERNAL LIFE as an irrevocable gift.

The bible does not teach a salvation that can be lost or forfeit!
Nailed it!!! No pun intended!!

"all these I have kept"
(Matthew 19:20)
when Jesus heard this, He said to him, “you still lack one thing"
(Luke 18:22)
Amen.

For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, Philippians 1:29

Did Jesus suffer for us?

Did the prophets, apostles and early disciples suffer for our sake?

... Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. Matthew 16:24-25

Hi God'sgrace, love this bible verse, we do serve a loving God. So that whatever we do if it is leading a bible study; or visiting the sick; maybe helping meet the needs of the poor or washing the dishes at home, we should all do this as if it is Christ our Lord that we are serving.

And then after doing this work heartily there is the promise that we will receive a "reward" which is our "inheritance", from the Lord.

There are many applications here and this verse can and should be applied to our everyday living; even in the work place toward that boss that we do not like too much....:)

Colossians3:23 ,24

Agreed TT. You post many statements that are God's truth.
I do believe that we will be receiving some type of award(s) in heaven that we don't understand right now. This is clear from scripture.

Would you agree with me, however, that our inheritance is heaven itself?
The reason I insist on this is because some preach that our inheritance is these rewards...and it is these rewards we lose if we go back to a life of sin (different from sinning) and not our inheritance which is heaven.

I fear for those who hear this and might return to their previous life, before they knew God, thinking that they will only lose rewards but maintain their salvation.

Some here will say that God maintains our salvation --- this is true. As long as we remain with God.
The Holy Spirit and a life of sin cannot dwell together.
I do wish we were bold enough to admit that we do have to obey God and actually walk with Him if we are to be saved.

Would you agree with the following verses?:

- Pick up our cross daily to follow him (Matt. 16:24, Luke 9:23)

- Do works of mercy and charity (Matt. 19:21, 25:31–46, Luke 18:22)

- Obey his commandments (John 14:15, 15:10)

- DO the will of the Father (Matt. 7:21,
James 1:22)

What about these in reference to maintaining our salvation?:

Romans 2:6-10 (verse 7 clearly speaks of eternal life....not rewards)
Romans 11:21-22
Galatians 5:21 (those who live a life of sin will not inherit the Kingdom of God .... not "rewards")
John 5:28-29 (some versions say condemnation....also clearly not rewards)

One simple question for you:
MUST we obey God?

Or can we choose not to?
And don't get tricky and state that by "obey" I mean never to sin.
You know very well I don't believe that.

So...
Do we obey God or not?

This is all I'm saying.

I agree with you VCO.

But explain to me why some here don't like to ADMIT that we must obey God
and explain to me why WORKS is an unacceptable word when it's all over the N.T.

And, while you're at it, explain to me why those who like to work for the God they love are seen as unsaved by some because we only believe with our mind and not with our heart. Shouldn't it be the other way around? When did this change take place???

Why do you refuse to admit your trying to save yourself. And ignoring those who tell you Gods children WILL, Not MUST Obey him as scripture says (not perfectly mind you. No one is sinless)

You want to try to save yourself good luck, and keep trying, but why do you judge those who have fallen to their knees and placed their lives in the hand of the savior?

They spoke about how we're to maintain our salvation once achieved.

We are justified by our works and not our words. Clement of Rome (c. 96), 1.13.

. . . that He may both hear you, and perceive by your works that you are indeed the members of His Son. . . . Faith cannot do the works of unbelief, nor unbelief the works of faith. . . . The tree is made manifest by its fruit. So those who profess themselves to be Christians will be recognized by their conduct. . . . It is better for a man to be silent and be [a Christian], than to talk and not be one. Ignatius (c. 105)

We . . . hasten to confess our faith, persuaded and convinced as we are that those who have proved to God by their works that they followed Him, and loved to abide with Him where there is no sin to cause disturbance, can obtain these things. . . . Each man goes to everlasting punishment or salvation according to the value of his actions. Justin Martyr (c. 160), 1.165, 166.

We will give account to God not only of deeds (as slaves), but even of words and thoughts (as being those who have truly received the power of liberty). For under liberty, a man is more severely tested as to whether he will reverence, fear, and love the Lord. . . . God desires obedience, which renders [His worshippers] secure—rather than sacrifices and burnt-offerings, which avail men nothing toward righteousness. Irenaeus (c. 180), 1.482.

and much more.....
From beginning "have been saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8) to end "receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls" (1 Peter 1:9) salvation is by grace through faith and is not obtained or maintained by works.

In Matthew 12:37, Jesus said - "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Yet Clement of Rome said we are not justified by our words? We are justified - "shown to be righteous" by our words and our works because our words and our works reveal the condition of our hearts. Words/works will be evidences for, or against a man's being in a state of righteousness.

Ignatius said "those who profess themselves to be Christians will be recognized by their conduct." In Matthew 7:15-16, Jesus said - “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. “You will know them by their fruits. Likewise, Christians will be recognized by their fruit.

Justin Martyr said - "Each man goes to everlasting punishment or salvation according to the value of his actions." hmm.. I can see where that statement would tickle the ears of works-salvationists. The value of our actions will be evidences for, or against a man's being in a state of righteousness, yet that still does not mean we are saved by works. Read what Augustine said:

Augustine: "Grace is give to you, not wages paid to you...it is called grace because it is given gratuitously. By no precedent merits did you buy what you have received. The sinner therefore received this grace first, that his sins should be forgiven him...good works follow after a justified person; they do not go before in order that he may be justified...good works, following after justification, show what a man has received."

Augustine: "Now, having duly considered and weighed all these circumstances and testimonies, we conclude that a man is not justified by the precepts of a holy life, but by faith in Jesus Christ,--in a word, not by the law of works, but by the law of faith; not by the letter, but by the spirit; not by the merits of deeds, but by free grace."

I often hear Roman Catholics quote the Church Father in their effort to support their unbiblical teachings, so keep in mind that the ECF were not infallible. I have also heard Roman Catholics say that prior to the Reformation, nobody taught "faith alone," yet to the contrary, we find:

Basil: "This is the true and perfect glorying in God, when a man is not lifted up on account of his own righteousness, but has known himself to be wanting in true righteousness and to be justified by faith alone in Christ."

Jerome: "When an ungodly man is converted, God justified him through faith alone, not on account of good works which he possessed not."

Chrysostom: "Again, they said that he who adhered to faith alone was cursed, but he shows that he who adhered to faith alone is blessed."

Bernard of Clairvaux: "Shall not all our righteousness turn out to be mere unrighteousness and deficiency? What, then, shall it be concerning our sins, when not even our righteousness can answer for itself? Wherefore...let us flee, with all humility to Mercy which alone can save our souls...whoever hungers and thirsts after righteousness, let him believe in thee, who "justified the ungodly"; and thus, being justified by faith alone, he shall have peace with God."

I'm so shocked I can't even answer right now!!!
Are you saying the ECF's are those that would come after? As wolves?
Personally, I don't care what Augustine said...he's after the ECF's anyway.

Ignatius knew Peter and John.
Justin Martyr learned from Irenaeus who learned from John.

So you think they taught UNBIBLICAL teachings???
I had to stop reading....am in a hurry.
I won't reply more to this,,,you are free to believe whom you will.

Those that were taught by the Apostles themselves,
or those who have come up with their own doctrine.

Your choice.

I'd love to go through how what they said was unbiblical,,,,but it's not worth the time.

How about reading 80,151 and answering to those verses?
They're from the bible, direct.

HOW do you explain those?
We do in love,,,sure.

So why don't you ever agree with me?
It sounds like you're saying we are NOT to DO...
(as usual).

Jesus Himself said we will be judged by our works and deeds.
What more can I say?

This idea that all one has to do is believe, in some kind of way, will not cut the mustard when one gets before God.
