I see that clearly...God does not say For it is by works you are saved through faith , all by yourself so you can boast , that is saying the same above that is underlined in her post...xox...
Exactly...........so simple a child can understand......the simplicity found in Christ--->It pleased God by the foolish of preaching to save them that believe.

As I read your post here I actually felt a pang of horror and fear for you!

I am truly saddened for you. PLEASE don't be one of those people saying "Lord, Lord, did not WE DO ALL THIS GREAT STUFF IN YOUR NAME", on judgement day.

You don't want to hear Him say, " Depart from me, I NEVER knew you".
...“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” Matthew 25:40-46

Who are the YOU that did good things, and who are "brothers of mine"? Why do you think there is a distinction there?

I would like to embellish the bolded.....it is the biblical standard.....
Jesus was clear....the plenteous in number will claim...

a. Faith -->Lord Lord
b. Works --> Have we not done many wonderful works in YOUR NAME

Faith plus works for salvation.......exactly what MOST teach and exactly why the NUMBER will be plenteous!

The truth is that the deceiver has been deceiving from the beginning until now.

These deceivers will REJECT and NULLIFY the Word and believe the deceiving spirits.(Isaiah 5:20-24, Mark 7:6-13)

...while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 2 Timothy 3:13

...THE SPIRIT CLEARLY SAYS that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through HYPOCRITICAL LIARS, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 1 Timothy 4:1-2

How would we know who were the ones that were deceived?

We know that Eve was deceived when she believed the deceiver and disobeyed God's command.

Who are the deceivers and who were deceived?

..But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

...At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Matthew 24:10‭-‬14‭, ‬24

...For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. 2 Corinthians 11:13‭-‬15

...And those that were deceived believed in the deceivers mentioned above and disobeyed God's commands because they were made to believe that they would not surely die, IOW, "always saved". But scriptures warn us not to be deceived;

...Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. Ephesians 5:6‭-‬7

...Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”... Genesis 3:1‭-‬19

Just think what could have happened if Eve did not believe the serpents deception but OBEYED God instead. ...NO NEED TO DISCUSS SALVATION FOR SURE because no one needs to be saved.

The truth is that Adam and Eve were created according to the image of God's righteousness and holiness and they BELIEVE and OBEY God until they got DECEIVED and disobeyed God.

...FOR WHO MAKES YOU DIFFERENT FROM ANYONE ELSE? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not? 1 Corinthians 4:7

...Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. 22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off."

Did God warn us about the deception? If He did, then why REFUSE to take heed of them?

...See to it that you DO NOT REFUSE HIM who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? Hebrews 12:25

So who would say now that OBEDIENCE TO GOD HAS NO BEARING IN SALVATION?

Who are the YOU that did good things, and who are "brothers of mine"? Why do you think there is a distinction there?
“You have said harsh things against me,” says the Lord. “Yet you ask, ‘What have we said against you?’ “You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.’” Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “They will be mine,” says the Lord Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not. Malachi 3:13-18

...Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 5:20-24

Amen and to God be all the glory!

Do you have affairs?
Do you have ANY rules in your marriage?
Can you do anything you want to do?
Are there limits set?

I've been married 54 years. I could ask plenty more questions.

Some things we do for our spouse to be nice, and this is very good to do.
Some things we do or DO NOT do because we know that IF we did, we'd be in trouble and our marriage would be in trouble.

Would I love to see some honesty here....

P.S. IOW, it's your love for your wife AND the fact that you stay within constraints that KEEPS your marriage.

"till death do us part"

"for better or for worse"

are you still married because your husband played by your rules, or because these vows mean something?

Hmm... So YOUR salvation depends on YOU forgiving others. I am beyond grateful My Salvation depends on CHRIST forgiving me because of HIS Blood and Righteousness!

What Jesus is saying is DESCRIPTIVE NOT PRESCRIPTIVE of what a Born Again Child of God WILL do.
Would you care to comment on the actual scripture and teaching of Christ?

Or are you just going to creat a false narrative, to deny His doctrine.

The truth isn’t going to change just because you don’t like it.

And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.
“So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.” Matthew 18:34-35

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9

repenting means a change of mind , which will lead to a change in behavior.

it's all about belief.

salvation is a gift. the minute you attach a " have to ' to it, then you just made it about you. it's not about you.

Sorry bro, repent means to turn to God.

Words of Christ in red for emphasis -

But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

“Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. Acts 26:16-20

  • that they should repent, turn to God

The YOU = whoever Jesus was talking to.
The "brothers of mine" = the poor and the needy.

You can overanalyze a scripture until you have negated the reason it was given. We do this to help us move the scripture closer to the way we believe, even though the scritpure is telling us something we do not believe.

So tell me who you think the YOU is?
So tell me who you think the "borthers of mine" are?

I know thats how you read it, but the way the other camp reads it is:

the ones who said Lord Lord didnt we X Y Z arent cast into hell because they did those GOOD things, or TRUSTED in them, but because they were: '"workers of iniquity" i.e didnt turn from their sins.

Thats the interpretation they would use on it. But im sure youve heard it a thousand times in these 4000 pages lol.

Imo best way to prove eternal security is the John 6:44 or verses that say "HAVE" present tense eternal life

I could care less what they think or say....the root of their problem was the gospel they espoused......the claimed JESUS as LORD and they expect to enter based upon their works....the same dogma peddled by some on this site and many in the world of Christiandom.....

Workers for, Cainologists and Pharisees which peddle a losable salvation.....

GodsGrace101 disliked what the BIBLE defines what is the Purpose of the LAW.

I take it that is the FIRST TIME anyone showed you what the Purpose of the LAW is.

Your argument is with GOD, so you will loose.

I only quoted Scripture.

Matthew 10:14

"And whoever does not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you are going out of that house or that town."

Luke 10:16

"The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me. But the one who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me."

Salvation doesn't depend on us, but it is a choice. To accept His gift... or not to accept His gift. That one word to "accept" is has deep meaning.

Hmm. I'd be careful there. There are many arguements that I see everyday that are at enmity with God, but it is not for us to say "you will lose". We are to pray for one another as that one may be weaker in faith than the other.
James 5:16
Matthew 5:44
Philippians 1:9-11

Also, we are to not only to give scripture to one another, but also to live out in faith. Remember the fullness of Christ, not partials of His character.
James 1:22-25
Without love, we are nothing. 1 Corrinthians 13:2

This isn't just for you, but for all of us as a reminder. Sometimes we need it :)

Better go back and read the History between GodsGrace101 and me. He is on my permanent IGNORE LIST for a reason. He earned it, and I gave him a lot more chances than the Bible says I should.

Titus 3:9-11 (HCSB)
9 But avoid foolish debates, genealogies, quarrels, and disputes about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.
10 Reject a divisive person after a first and second warning,
11 knowing that such a person is perverted and sins, being self-condemned.

Also check out his divisive attitude against most of the other brethren on this thread.

In the Spirit there are unending experiences. One likened it to rooms of a house. That I've never experienced.
I feel like a kindergartener in these things.
That is a very interesting way of putting the spiritual growth process, Thank You! But the process will not be COMPLETE, until HE gives us that glorified Body in the Resurrection, when the SANCTIFICATION PROCESS of our Human Body will be complete.

Thank you for including Evangelicals in there too. I was beginning to feel left out.

I actually consider a lot of Baptists to be part of my spiritual growth too. SUCH AS:

Dr. Ed Young

Dr. Charles Stanley

Dr. Adrian Rogers

Dr. Richard Lee

We are not born again, regenerated by doing good deeds.
Amen! Good deeds are subsequent to regeneration.

However, I will point out that we must obey the Gospel, by repenting;
Turning to God.
We obey the gospel by choosing to believe the gospel. Romans 10:16 - But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” Those who have done so have repented in the process of changing their mind and choosing to believe the gospel. This is how we turn to God. Acts 20:21 - testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ

Did you ever consider that maybe it's YOU that doesn't get it?
Prior to my conversion several years ago, while still attending the RCC, I didn't get it. But after my conversion, upon placing my faith (belief, trust, reliance) in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, I get it. Salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works (Ephesians 2:8,9). To believe anything else is to miss salvation.
