they will use hebrews 10:26 to teach you can lose salvation. OK!
But lets be consistent: WHY do they teach you can get it back which hebrews 10:26 specifically DENIES!

They jump hoops over it!
AMEN....the absolute truth...for salvation to be losable the following must be false

I will never leave thee or forsake thee
We are saved to the uttermost
We are kept by the power of Christ through faith
The faith
HE begins, finishes and completes
We are sealed by the HOLY SPIRIT of promise UNTO the day of redemption
We are in the hand of Christ
We are in the hand of the Heavenly FATHER and NO an can yank us fro his hand
Eternal life means temporary life
Everlasting life means temporary life
Saved by grace through faith is false and we must earn or maintain it
The good shepherd will NOT leave the 99 to find the one that wandered
It is finished (paid in full) is false and we still have sins to pay for
The grace of God does not bound ahead of our sin as Paul states
I will lose nothing the Father has given me
He that believes is not condemed (refer to bolded above)
There is no condemnation for those in Christ JESUS (next part not found in the Greek text and was added)
Whosoever believes in him should not perish (see bolded faith above)
Therefore we conclude a man is justified by faith without the deeds/works of the law (bolded above)
The mercy of the Lord endures forever (once applied it cannot end or this is false)
The righteousness of Christ is imputed by faith (see bolded above)
When I see the blood I will pass over you
I place your sins as far as the east is from the west and remember them no more

and on and on and on.......

ALL that teach salvation is losable will say they have never lost it and they ALWAYS do what GOD has commanded (liars)
All that teach salvation must be earned or gained by works ignore Galatians, Romans, Ephesians, John, yank James out of context, ignore JESUS and all the verses that state clearly it is by faith and they ALL do what is required to maintain it
Most that teach it can be lost and regained ignore that HEBREWS stats that if it could be lost NO ONE gets it back
They are all false!!

Well, answer the question. IS he still a son, even though he's now dead? A person doesn't become unsaved, just because they stray for awhile. If that were the case, then we are all in trouble.
AMEN Blue.....JESUS was clear....HE will leave the 99 SHEEP to find the 1 SHEEP hat wanders away....HE NEVER states that it becomes a GOAT and then must be restored to a SHEEP......that is retarded.....

That would line up with the argument that in this parable, being made "alive again" foreshadows the "born again" experience that Jesus spoke of in John 3:3. Of course Jesus wasn't talking about being born again spiritually again and again. We are born once physically and born "again" once spiritually.

People in the NOSAS camp interpret this parable as the prodigal son was spiritually alive, then spiritually died (lost his salvation) and was spiritually alive "again" (regained his salvation).

I find it interesting that certain translations of Luke 15:32 simply say your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found (ESV); your brother was dead, but now he is alive. He was lost, but now he is found (NCV); this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found (NRS); this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found (NAS).
Lol, the context of the parable is clear, read Luke 15:1-3

So DC please answer. If a prodigal son does in that state, is he still a son?

If you say yes, then you are talking about a prodigal that didn't come back

So that's three things you denied saying that I have documented that you did say

1. A person can be saved for years and not bear fruit

2 a theoretical prodigal who does not return

3. My original meaning of works are a gift.

All documented above

596 and 600. Many years to bear fruit. May burn down (die) after three years before ever bearing fruit. Seems clear to me, namecaller

In Luke 15, the key to interpreting the three parables is found in the first three verses. The publicans and sinners HAD BEEN lost, but now have come to Jesus and are found. These parables are in reply to the Pharisees murmerring and grumbling about Jesus receiving sinners
Go back and read Luke 15:1-3

Always interpret scripture according to context

PostScript. The post was about Luke 15, not the lost sheep parable in other Gospels

Blessings

The context is clear.

One of His sheep became lost.

Not publicans and sinners.

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:4-7

Jesus is teaching His disciples what they must do, if one of His sheep wander away and become lost.

Matthew says it this way -

“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
Matthew 18:12-17

Here are the steps to take to go after one of His sheep who has become lost.

  1. Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

2. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’

3. And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

Look above. I provided links and numbers.

Still name-calling I see. And don't accept apologies for a mistake. Great example of a Christian.
Who said I did not accept your apology...you are still doing the same thing.....accusing me of things I have not said or implied.....and you are misquoting me.....maybe slow down and actually read what I have said.....

So what.......you have still proved nothing except in your mind.......and I will say it again.....

1. A person can be saved for years without bearing fruit....<--the bible and nature teaches this truth
2. At what point does one stop being a son by birth...NEVER
3. Works are the result of the gift of faith and salvation....<----a period of growth and maturity is required before one bears anything

Get your facts straight...you are looking like a fool......

OK, there's three denials that DC made that I have provided documentation for. It's time for the name calling to stop
Well you could ask children/the immature to stop name calling, but I doubt you will get very far.
Some peoples understanding seems to be limited to repeatedly stating: ''you are not saved by works of the law, you cannot lose your salvation, you will go to Heaven no matter what'' etc. Possibly they need to branch out/expand their understanding a wee bit. In the mean time, all you are likely to get is comments such as:
hahahahahahahahahahaha
It may be best to move on. to other more stimulating debates.

So I thought you said I was a liar about 1 and 2. But you proved I was not lying.

Number 1 you flat out ADMIT saying and believing

Number 2- if a person never stops being a son, that means even when dying in sin. But the prodigal was not a backslidden christian, HE WAS A BACKSLIDDEN JEW COMING TO JESUS. Read Luke 15:1-3

So you are the one who is looking foolish, denying you said something and then later admitting you said it, not accepting three apologies for an honest mistake I made, and repeated namecalling.

Number 3- I provided post where I clearly stated what I meant by works are a gift, ie the purpose of God He has given us, the works that He ordained before we were born for us, they are part of salvation. Not part of obtaining salvation, but what ACCOMPANIES SALVATION AND RESULTS FROM SALVATION, therefore if they are given to us BY HIM, they are gifts.

How exactly do you define gifts?
