When I got saved , I came to Christ thirsting , I was truly hungry for His word ...Only through reading after about a year I could say " I love You Lord "...I already had Gods love poured in my new heart , now I was learning the love of God , and He was removing from me the false love of the world , it takes time to get our minds renewed , and when we can lift our eyes up to God with love in our hearts for Him , our love grows deeper and deeper , it is a process...xox...
I was raised steeped in legalism. I feared God, but knew nothing of loving him, for I feared any slight deviation from perfection could send me to hell(I kid you not) When grace graciously found me, I then could love God, for the burden was rolled away. How could I not love him? I now had a free salvation, and he lived in me through His Spirit, with his Son. I was so happy. God bless, thanks for sharing

AMEN!!!! peter talks about those who are "willingly ignorant"
i believe some are caught up in this osas doctrine because they love to sin and anyone telling them its not ok to do so is an offense to them
That is not true for those of us who walk with our Lord Jesus Christ...
There are billions of people out there who think saying the sinners prayer is all they need to do , then they go out and live like the world , God will not me mocked...
Those who you post about are those who are not born again , a true child of God grows in God by His power and Might , not walk in the way we used to...xox...

Well I could spend time doing so, but methinks you would not approach the subject with an open mind so it would be a waste of time. Better for you to seek the answer in prayer, if you sincerely want to know it
EVASION! I asked a VITAL question and you just basically told me "Yeah you're not open minded enough so its a waste of time".

In other words, YOU DONT KNOW either. Thanks

Know it alls.. they claim we do not have an opened mind, when theirs is closed tight and sealed. So no what they think “dirt or contamination” gets in. Unknowing that when you do that, you keep the good thinks that can help out also.

I see you are a reformed presbyterian Calvinist. Everything I have said is in alignment with Calvinism and reformed doctrine. SO I'll assume you were referring to someone other than me. See my sig below.
It is obvious you don't understand a joke. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus period. Works doesn't save but is only evidence of salvation. I was paraphrasing what a salesman said when we were under the gun to satisfy a customer that had a problem with the system he bought from our company. We had been working on the problem for 3 long days and finally solved the problem. There were 4 of us, sales manager, salesman, customer support manager, and myself the customer service engineer. My boss and I solved the problem while the sales people were keeping the customer off of our backs as we fixed the problem. The show of force was to satisfy the customer we took the issue very seriously. Normally I would have been there alone. We were relaxing after solving the problem that evening. His statement was "This is where it's at. This is what it's all about. A person would be crazy not to love a life like this." His joke was burned into my memory.

So if once a person is saved by grace, through faith in Jesus, they do nothing but what they want to do? So we can sit around play video games, go to concerts, make a comfortable lifestyle for ourselves. No worries, No works for God at all?

If so, how do you explain James 1:27 "
Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to visit the orphans and widows in their afflictions and to keep oneself unstained from the world."

If, visiting the orphans and widows is not works (deeds, actions) what is it?

And how does one explain
James 2:14-26 "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?

If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

But someone will say, "you have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe--and shudder! Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness" --and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by the works and not by faith alone.: (ESV)

Or are we just ignoring that scripture because it don't fit our own theological system?

James then goes on and gives examples.

I just heard a sermon about this (to those who like to jump to conclusions around here, it was a Baptist Church).

He said, "True faith always leads to works. Because works are the fruit of a sincere faith. Works do not save you, but the faith that does saves you, always produces works."

He goes on to clarify, that the works that he is talking about are the works defined by James, that are acts of obedience
which included acts of service which involve deeds and action of meeting the needs of people around us who are struggling,
James 2:15; to take care of the widows and orphans, James 1:27; and to actively love people ourselves, James 2:8.

"Works are actions of obedience that include demonstrating in acts of love, mercy and grace to the world that is around us.

James 2:14-17 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?

Hear that question that James is explicitly asking and will explicitly answer.

If someone is trying to argue that they have faith alone that has not produced any works, can that faith save him? Is their faith real? Do they have true, sincere faith? Are they saved? Now lets see his explicit answer.

If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? (James 2:15-16)

So faith by itself, if it does not have works, IS DEAD." (James 2:17)

James goes on to say that "you believe that God is one; you do well, even the demons believe in that and they shudder. Do you want to be shown that faith apart from works is dead? Then he gives the examples of Abraham and Rahab.

James 2:26 FOR AS THE BODY APART FROM THE SPIRIT IS DEAD, SO IS FAITH APART FROM WORKS IS DEAD.

Don't forget when Jesus separates the sheep from the goats. I only takes those who have done works of love, the ones that feed the hungry, that clothed the naked, that gave drink the thirsty, opened their open to strangers.

Mat 25:32-46 Before Him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

He takes the people who did works, who feed the hungry, who gave drink to the thirsty, who welcomes the strangers, who visited the sick and those in prison.

And the ones who did not do these works goes to eternal punishment.

Pretty clear who is saved and who is not here in Mat 25.

So people can have faith, but not have faith, is that what your asking?

When you trust people, do you disobey them 24/7, or do you do what they say BECAUSE you have faith in them

Where you have immature Christians, you often find all they want to do is speak of salvation through faith apart from works. And they take offence if you quote the bible where it speaks of obligation. The immature are not that far along the road, though they may be able to quote the letter of scripture exhaustively. Some of them get most upset, and accuse you of being phariseeically minded, or a judaizer for instance when you speak of obligation as you are. Be warned!!

But no one here that believes in OSAS believes that works will not follow , not one of us believes that , for our works from God are planned before the foundation of the world , but works do not save us...
It seems that this point of your argument you are missing , we are called to do good works after we have been saved...xox...

Just for the record, no one here is denying sanctification and christian growth, and how since god loved us, we should learn to emulate him, and in doing so, do the works we created us to do,

People will use the strawman we are immature, or hate obedience, or love our sin (many other accusations which are not true)

Our soul beef is against the thought that obedience is what saves us, making eternal life not a fift of God paid by the blood of christ, but a reward or wage earned by our hard work.

Amen eph 2: 10

One who has faith in god does not go around doing everything god does not want us to do, People who do that do not have faith in god, no matter how much they claim they do.
